Chapter 7

One week later

Pari hovered around Geet in her room spending hours enhancing her natural beauty on the day of her engagement. She picked a violet lehenga with light splash of golden work on the borders with a sleeveless golden top, which hung around Geet's waist snugly showing her curves. Pari decided to do a purple smokey look on her but tried to keep the makeup to a minimal as she filled her eyes with thick black kajjal and a pink gloss to her lips, did her hair in a stylish side bun and finished it with a orchid flower pinned close to her ear. The purple duppatta with a heavy golden border was resting on her right shoulder as Pari pinned it to keep it in place.

"Here we go, my Geetu is all ready to dazzle her Beach Boy. You look breathtaking honey. ", She said as she came close to hug me.

I giggle despite the nervous butterflies flying around in my stomach, "Thanks baby."

Yash looked at himself in the black shervani with copper work on the neckline as he finished getting ready. He quickly glanced at his watch and decided it was time to check on his girls.

Just then Pari and Geet made their way to the living room. He watched them both for a second adoring their beauty.

"Wow, my girls look quite hot. I don't know about Maan but I know I won't be able to take my eyes away.", Yash said which earned a blush from both the girls. Just then Yash's phone rang and displayed Maan's name.

"Hey buddy", he said with usual cheer.

"Hey Yash, are you all ready?", Maan asked.

'Yup, all ready to go."

"Great, the car and the guards are waiting for you outside. And don't worry, the media is outside the Khurana gates but they can't get in. And the windows are tinted so no one will be able to see Geet.", Maan explained.

"Thanks man, I don't know how to--"

"Don't you dare Yash Handa, I am doing it for Geet; just trying to make her happy.", Maan said.

"Okay then, we will see you soon.", Yash said.

"Wait , wait Yash. On second thoughts there is a way you can thank me. Just tell me how beautiful my Misiti is looking', Maan asked.

Yash laughed lightly and the girls looked at each other wondering what was going on.

"Sorry buddy but you are going to have to see that for yourself. ", Yash said and hang up.

"Let's go ladies, the car is waiting for us outside.", Yash said and walked to open the door where six guards stood dressed in black.

"And the guards?", Pari asked gesturing to the bulky men.

"Guards?", Geet asked as she heard Pari say the words.

"Ya, Maan said there would be guards, I just didn't know there would be six of them.", Yash said. "Anyway, let's get going.", he said before they could ask more.

The trio made their way to the driveway where three black BMWs parked, "Nor did he say that there would be more than one car.", Yash said and both Geet and Pari looked confused.

The trio filed in one car with a guard and driver and the other split in with the other two. The trio car was sandwiched between the other cars all the way to Khurana Mansion. Yash and Pari stared at the sight at the gate of Khurana Mansion. The gate was cluttered with every news channel reporters flashing pictures or trying with all the luck to get footage of the lucky girl who would be marrying the great Maan Singh Khurana. The reporters were throwing questions at the cars even though the windows were closed.

"Bhaiyya, why is it so loud here?", Geet asked with worry.

"Don't worry Geet, it's just a few reporters.", he brushed it off not wanting her to worry.

The security guard by the gate quickly opened the gates letting the cars get through before forcefully closed the doors again before any of the reporters could get in. Yash and Pari looked at each other and both held one of Geet's hands silently. The driver stopped the car and stepped out to open the door for them but Yash was already out not used to such luxury. He walked to the other side and opened it to hold a hand out for Geet. She slipped it in his and he gave it a tight squeeze.

At the doorstep, Dadi waited to greet them so she could join them as the girl family. Rituals were a little mixed for this wedding, as Dadi Ma wanted to perform the rituals that Geet's parents would have performed. Both Yash and Geet had been touched by her sweet gesture and had come to see her as a motherly figure.

The trio bent down to take her blessings.

"Bless you my children.", she said before she gave them a hug. "And my Geet looks so beautiful.", she complimented as Geet blushed.

Geet started straining her ears to hear Maan's voice in the background or feel his presence somehow but she could tell he was not here.

"Welcome Handas.", Nitya said as she came down the stairs draped in a exquisite black saree with sliver work. She was wearing all the flashy jewelry as well as the fake smile she was so famous for.

"Namaste aunty", Yash, Pari and Geet said. Geet bent down to take her blessing using Pari as her support. A few guests glanced in their direction as they noticed Geet holding onto Pari for support.

The engagement was well attended with Delhi's richest people: most of the business end people, Dadi's friends and of course Nitya's high society friends. Nitya grimaced as she touched Geet's head blessing her.

"And look, the man of the hour is here too.", Yash said as Maan stood at the top of the stairs,dressed in mehndi and golden shervani (the wedding type one in the show). He descended the stairs slowly as he focused on one person only: Geet. He thought she looked beautiful in her attire. He stopped to take his Dadi Ma's blessing who hugged him close as well as kissing his cheek after she blessed him and his mother's too but that was only for the show she wanted to put up of a loving mother.

Maan made his way and hugged his friend Yash who had become like a brother before he went to stand next to Geet. He discreetly grabbed one of her hands and she gasped. She fought to free her hand but Maan wasn't letting go.

"Misiti, you look beautiful.", he whispered as he looked at her with love. It wasn't a look she could see but she felt the love.

"Thank you but please Maan, let go my hand; people are probably looking.", she whispered back trying to free his grip.

"So let them look, I don't care. We are going to be engaged very soon anyways.", he whispered back.

Soon it was time for the engagement, Maan and Geet stood in the middle of the room as the crowd watched. Dadi Ma held out the box holding the three stone diamond ring Maan and Geet had gotten together. Geet had felt the stones and said that the stones for 'I love you'. Maan took hold of her hand and slipped the ring in her finger before he placed a light kiss on it. Geet also placed a ring on Maan's finger and the crowd applauded. People came and congratulated them. The party continued on as food set out and later the dance floor opened up.

Maan and Geet were sitting on the chairs set up on the set talking to each other in low voices.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may we have your attention please?" Pari said over the mike and everyone quieted down. 'May we please ask the newly engaged couple to come on the dance floor for a dance?', she asked.

Geet immediately panicked hearing Pari's words. Maan smiled and got up before he held out his hand for Geet to take. Maan touched her hand when she didn't place her hand in his thinking she didn't sense him holding out his hand.

"Maan, are you crazy? I can't dance with everyone here.", she whispered in her panicky voice.

"Geet, do you trust me?", he asked quietly.

'Of course I trust you but---"

"No buts, trust is all need. Don't worry, I would let anything happen to you.", he said and took hold of her hand to lead her to the middle of the dance floor.

Maan placed his hand on her waist to pull her close, "Trust me Misiti.", he whispered in her ear as the music started to play.

"I do because in this darkening world, you are my guiding light.", she whispered back as she tightened her hold on his shoulder.

Soon the crowd melted away as they lost themselves in each other; they were only Misiti and Beach Boy back at their beach.

Maan and Geet swayed slowly to the music smiling at each other. It didn't matter to either one of them that one couldn't see the smile; they had accepted each other the way they were. And they couldn't be happier.

Maan then took Geet's hand to twirl her around expertly making sure she was safe at every step.

Geet locked both her hands around Maan neck as he drew her close once again. Maan brushed his lips against her forehead gazing at the lady who would become his wife very soon.

Geet felt her eyes tearing up with happiness as she heard the words of the song which was true for them in every way. Pari couldn't have chosen a better song for them. She felt Maan fingers touching the corner of her eye to wipe the tear off.

"There are tears of happiness Beach Boy; the happiness you have given me.", she whispered wrapping her arms around his waist hugging him close as they danced slowly.

The crowd loudly applauded as they finished off their dance. They blinked as they were back in the reality. Geet blushed and attempted to step back but Maan kept his hold on her waist.

"I love you Misiti", Maan said close to her ear before he kissed her earlobe.

"I love you too Beach Boy.", she whispered back.

As the dance wrapped up, Dadi stole Geet away from Maan saying she wanted her to meet some people. Maan also played host as he chatted with people. Just then his cell phone rang off, but seeing that the volume of the party was too loud; Maan took his phone upstairs to attend the call. After he finished his call, he was making his way down the stairs again when he stopped dead in his tracks hearing what the ladies who were standing by the stairs were saying.

"I can't believe the blind girl could actually dance.", a plump lady said as she munched on the food.

"I know, I can't believe it that the girl is blind.", another lady exclaimed dramatically.

"And on top of that the...what are they called..", she asked looking at her friends.

"The Handas.", the plump lady supplied.

"Yes, the Handas have no status that can match to the Khuranas. I don't even know what business her brother has. God knows how she trapped the great Maan Singh Khurana.", she finished off looking disgusted.

Maan's blood boiled at the words the so-called respected high society ladies were uttering about his Misiti. He was tempted to give them a piece of his mind but he had another thought in mind.

He went to the DJ corner telling the DJ to turn off the music and asked for the mike. The crowd quieted down as Maan Singh Khurana stood in the middle of the stage next to Geet holding her hand waiting for the crowd's attention.

"Hello everyone. I would like to thank all of you who came here today to give your best wishes for our future life. But good wishes and blessings is all we want from you. I will not stand here and listen to people gossip about my future wife and her flaws.", he said tightening his hold on her hand as he glimpsed tears in her eyes. He scanned the crowd as he saw Yash's face fill with anger and anguish at the same time.

"I repeat that I will not stand for anyone to say anything about my Geet. You have been invited to the Khurana residence to provide your wishes and blessing not to go badmouthing my Geet.," he said directly looking at the ladies who were gossiping as they dropped their gazed as guilt hit them.

"And as for the Handa's status not being the same as the Khuranas; so let me tell you that they have far more respect than some of you here who are richer than the Handas. Relationships are made based on status for rich people like you not for people like Yash Handa who gave me his sister's hand in marriage only for the sake of his sister's happiness.", he said looking at Yash and Yash smiled back at Maan. He also saw his mother in the crowd who was wearing a frown hearing his words.

"Thank you all for your time.", he said as signaling the DJ to hit the music again.

He glanced at Geet as she was smiling at him through her tears.

"No Misiti, please don't cry. Your tears are my greatest weakness.", he said wiping them off. "I will be right back, I just need to do something.", he said and kissed her forehead before he walked away.

He signaled one of his guards to follow him as he made his way to the gossiping ladies. The ladies looked startled as Maan Singh Khurana stood in front of them radiating anger.

"Ramesh, please kindly escort these ladies outside. And be warned that they are not welcome on Khurana premises ever again.", he said.

"Excuse me Mr.Khurana, do you even know who I am? I am Mrs.Kapur, wife of Rohit Kapur who you are currently doing business with.", the lady said as she proudly introduced herself.

"Thank you for the introduction Mrs.Kapur but I wish you would at least have half the decency your husband has. Now kindly get out before I say or do something which would go against what my Dadi Ma has taught me.", he addressed her as she fumed in anger. "Ramesh, see them out.", he said through gritted teeth to his guard before he began to walk off.

"Fine Mr.Khurana but I will make sure you lose the business you are doing with my husband.", she said from behind.

"We will see about that but for now get out.", he said barely holding on his anger.

Everyone had watched the entire scene and were astonished at the lengths Maan Singh Khurana could go to for his future wife.

Later that night

I finished changing and bid my Bhaiya good night as I slipped under the covers. I wanted to talk to Maan and thank him for the stand he had taken for me tonight but I realized that he would be taking this stand against anyone and everyone in the future. I thought at times that I didn't deserve him but I would think that as long as we were happy with each other, I shouldn't bother with the world. But that didn't mean that it wouldn't hurt. Soon the day exhausted me out and before I could call Maan; I drifted off to sleep.
