As Neil left the house Silence crept in. Samrat and Gunjan became like two strangers sitting at the dining table eating. No one said a word. The food seemed so tasteless at that moment. Gunjan was just lost in her own thoughts and so was samrat. The night was darker than usual and no one wanted to speak about it. Samrat kept glancing at Gunjan waiting for her to come out of her thoughts. He tried to smile as he ate his food as he knew that Gunjan had made this food for him. "The food is excellent" Samrat commented bringing Gunjan's mind back to what he was saying. "Thank you" she replied. Her face wasn't lit up nor did it have a smile, which usually played on her lips when someone praised her food. 'How should I cheer Gunjan up? What can I do? Is she.. is she thinking about Neil? Thinking that he was not exactly wrong. But what about us? She promised she wouldn't leave me. No. I am not letting her go. She is mine. But what if she wants to leave? I cant stop her either. She is not happy with me and maybe she is happy with Neil.!' Samrat thought. Meanwhile Gunjan had made up her mind to not think about Neil and get tensed. "So our dinner plan was ruined" she commented sighing. "Hmm.. I really wish I had said yes for the movie!" Samrat said. He was still regretting that. "Huh.." she smiled slightly, "I wish that too.." she said. Then they returned to eating. Samrat was eating while Gunjan just played with her fork and vegetables. She didnt eat much. Samrat was lost in his thoughts and wasn't able to notice that. Gunjan
After such a big day and they both were exhausted with all that had happened. Gunjan slept but Samrat just kept shifting in bed trying to sleep. His sleep was always disturbed by the thought of Gunjan going away from his life. He sat up in bed. He knew he couldnt sleep until he came to know whether Gunjan was going to stay with him or not. He tried to put everything together. 'If Gunjan wanted to go with Neil she could have. But she didnt. So that means she wants to be with me' he convinced himself. 'But she was crying listening to his story.. doesn't that mean that she still loves him?' he was sitting there confused. 'She wanted to have dinner with me! The past few days we had come so close.." he trailed off. "But ..." he paused. "But that time Gunjan thought Neil had cheated her. But now all that is cleared. And she still has feelings for Neil.." Samrat thought. His face was serious and he was sad. He didnt want Gunjan to leave him. Not after coming so close to him. Not after he realised that he couldn't survive without her. He shut his eyes and tried to calm down. Though he was very good at controlling his feelings, it wasn't possible to do that all the time. He held his head in his hand and in no time fell asleep as he was tired of work and his personal problems. On one side he was so tensed for the tender and on the other he didnt want to lose his love... Now what would a man in that situation do?... SLEEP!
The next morning she woke him up. It was 8:30 and Mr Shergill was still in bed. Gunjan had already had a bath and she was ready. Samrat's breakfast was on the table and he was still in bed. Gunjan looked at him in his sleep and quietly apologized to him for all he had to go through because of her. Then she shook him a little. "Samrat, wake up! Its 8:30!" she said. Samrat's eyes opened and he sat up in bed and smiled seeing Gunjan still there. When he came out of his morning laziness he glanced at the clock and practically jumping out of bed ran into the bathroom with his clothes. He was already getting late for his meetings. Gunjan laughed looking at him scuttle into the bathroom. She shook her head and went downstairs. Her laughter was stopped by looking at her cell phone. She had got 3 missed calls since morning and all of them from Neil. Couldn't he just let her be. She had told him clearly that it was too late. But he still wouldn't understand.. would he? She ignored those calls and sat on the table reading the newspaper. Samrat came down and wished her good morning. She kept the newspaper down and wished him back. Silence again. Nothing to talk about. But Samrat finally said something, "Gunjan" he said, still unsure of whether it was the right time to say it. Gunjan looked up at him "Hmm" she said. "Willing to go for a movie today?" he asked. Gunjan didnt say anything. She was just staring at him. "I think its a bad idea. I only asked as I had promised you yesterday.." he said disappointed. He was convinced that Neil did make a difference in Gunjans life and that she still loved him. "Which movie?" Gunjan asked. "What?" Samrat said thinking he had heard it wrong. "Which Movie?" she repeated. Samrat smiled. "Anything. Whichever one you like." "Are you sure you want to go today? As in.. you dont have any meetings right?" Gunjan made sure. She was happy that Samrat had asked. She thought it would be a change for both of them and she did it as a hint to show Samrat that she wanted to be with him and that it was just too late to go back to Neil. Or rather she didnt want to anymore. Samrat was glad he asked. He thought she would refuse as she was a little depressed, but he didnt realise that he himself was the one depressed and not gunjan. Gunjan had learnt to handle her emotions staying with Samrat.
Gunjan didnt attend cooking class that day. She was not in the mood to go. She needed sometime to think about everything. Sought out her feelings. She felt bad for Neil but at the same time her heart didnt permit her to leave samrat, for some unknown reason. She sat by the window looking at the monsoon rain pouring. She didnt know how Samrat felt but she had started to realise how she felt. She didnt want to talk to Neil, she didnt want to leave Samrat. Why she didnt want to leave him, she didnt know. She convinced herself that she was too used to Samrat now. But that wasn't the real reason .. She was uncertain of the way she felt for him. There was a sense of attraction which was produced between the two recently. She sat lost in her world when someone patted her.
It was Sameera. She had come to visit Gunjan as she had missed her cooking class which had kept Sameera worried all morning. "Gunjan" she said looking at her. "Is everything alright?"
Gunjan just turned and sat thinking of where to begin. She finally began telling her from the events from the previous day. How she was excited about spending the day with Samrat and then.. it ended up as.. something none of them had expected. Sameera listened carefully. Gunjan's eyes were filled with tears but she tried to control them. Sameera was shocked too. At the end of it Sameera said "And I thought bringing up Shruti was the biggest headache in life!" she wanted to make Gunjan feel better but at that time she herself didnt know what to say. Life had taken such a a turn that now only Gunjan could decide what to do next. It was how her heard felt. It all depended on that. Sameera went and sat by Gunjan and held her hand. "Listen, I know its not easy for you. But just think over it. Listen to what your heart says. Think about everything Thats happened. And once you know how you feel about everything.. it wont be as difficult," she suggested. Gunjan looked at her. "You really think its that simple?" Gunjan said shaking her head, "You dont know how many times I have tried doing that.. Tried to think who is the person for me.. But I ended up with only one answer. I dont deserve to be with either of them. I had made them both suffer and especially Samrat. His life was ruined because of me. He is such a nice human being and a perfectionist.. and me. I just came and made his life as imperfect as possible." She said sighing. Sameera smiled at her concern for Samrat. She herself wanted Gunjan to be with Samrat. She admired Samrat as a person. He was quiet but Sameera could realise how tough it was to be him! "Gunjan.. I know how you feel. But thinking of that doesn't solve the problem. You cant just sit here and blame yourself. If you are always going to be to glum how do you suppose people around you to be happy? If your depressed, you think Samrat wont be affected. And maybe even Neil will be." "I Dont Care About Neil." Gunjan said in disgust. "He is a selfish man. Staying with Samrat I realised what was kindness and selflessness. Neil just has the feeling of revenge and hatred in him. I dont know if I still love him.. But I seriously dont care about him anymore. I think the love has died out after all these months." She said. "So what's the problem? You know you dont want to be with Neil.. then what is the problem? You are happy with Samrat right?" she asked. Gunjan thought for a while. She was always happy when he was around. He was so simple and sweet that he spread warmth and happiness to whoever he talked to. Thinking about all Samrat's fine qualities she nodded. "I am happy here. Samrat takes good care of me.. but the problem is right there Meera. I dont deserve him. He is just too good to be mine. He has always been there right next to me to hold me up and give me support but what did I do? I just pull him away from his work. I am sure he regrets this marriage!" Gunjan said. Sameera was smiling. The way Gunjan had said "he is too good to be mine" just proved that she was on love. She wanted him to herself but thought he deserved way more than he had got. "Gunjan, do you want to be with Samrat?" Sameera changed the question a little to make her realise her feelings. She knew if she told her that Gunjan loved samrat she wouldn't believe her. "yes" Gunjan said immediately. But then sank deep into her thoughts thinking about her desperate yes! Sameera smiled like a wise woman and said "Then be happy. Be with him! Be there for him." Gunjan just then realised that she was sad for no reason at all. Whatever she wanted was happening so what was the problem? She wanted to be with Samrat and she was. She had kicked Neil out of her life. Why was she thinking about it again and again.

That evening Samrat came home at 5. Gunjan was in the living room watching TV when he came to her. "Ready to go?" he asked. She smiled at him "yeah. You go freshen up. The geezer is on" she said. Samrat was actually perplexed seeing the smile playing on Gunjan's lips. Why was she so happy suddenly? Had he missed something during the day? She seemed to be so happy and normal. Was he the one who was thinking too much about Neil and Gunjan? Maybe gunjan had decided to forget Neil and move on... with him. He didnt think much and just went and changed. When he came downstairs Gunjan asked, "Don't you want to go? Why havent you changed!" she said. Samrat twitched his lips to one side. He could see the humour in Gunjan's voice. "I changed." He admitted. Gunjan laughed. He always wore white shirts, either striped or checked, and black pants. If it werent for Gunjan his only outings were from Home to Office and Office to Home. Though he had some coloured shirts in his cupboard he never wore them. He always said he liked black. They both left. Samrat was happy seeing Gunjan so cheerful but he didnt understand the reason behind it. They went to the ticket counter and looked at the shows. The next show was an hour later. They bought the tickets and were confused what to do at Palladium (The Mall with a theatre.). Samrat asked Gunjan, "You want to shop?" Gunjan was not that keen on shopping for herself, but she thought that Samrat needed to shop. Gunjan had to persuade Samrat into entering Promod to buy himself a pair of jeans as starters. Samrat tried them on and his comment on that was, "I used to wear these jeans in college Gunjan.. Don't you think I am a bit too old for them?" Gunjan laughed. "Samrat, you aren't 60 yet. Your just 29! So please relax." She said. "And trust me this looks really good on you!" Samrat was pretty unsure of this but he still bought it as Gunjan liked it alot. He kept asking Gunjan whether she wanted something and she said first she wanted to shop for him. Shop after shop Gunjan picked T-Shirts for Samrat. Samrat thought he looked funny in them and for sometime even Gunjan thought he looked funny as she hadn't seen him wear anything but suits!! But she still forced him into buying them. They shopped until Samrat pleaded gunjan to stop! "Samrat.. I love shopping! Me and Bui used to go for shopping once a week and I chose all the sarees for bui and she chose my clothes!" Samrat smiled at Gunjan, "So that means now its my turn to choose your clothes!" he said. But Gunjan was in no mood to shop anymore. Truly speaking she was tired of getting things out for Samrat. "But its time for the movie!" she said. And before Samrat could say there was sometime left she said "And I dont want to miss the beginning!" she said. Samrat gave up and they went to watch the movie. And guess which movie.. Ready! The whole movie Samrat was staring at Gunjan thinking how did this movie make any sense where as Gunjan was singing along. Dhinka Chika Dhinka Chika.. Hahah. Samrat was damn bugged as there was nothing sensible in that movie. Gunjan tried to make him understand that people came to watch movies for entertainment and not to find some sense in them! Samrat watched less movies but he liked Hrithik Roshan the most. Especially after he saw Guzaarish! Gunjan called Samrat 'boring' when he said that he liked films like Guzaarish. "What is the fun to watch a man paralyzed and who couldnt move his hands or legs?" she said. Samrat just ignored her question as he understood by then WHAT kind of movies she liked. By the end of the movie Samrat had an head ache while gunjan was still humming the tune of Dhinka chika... Gunjan no doubt had had a fabulous evening and she was happy to have followed Sameera's advice. She actually felt happier! The last thing Sameera had told Gunjan before leaving is "Life is all about Happiness and true happiness is when you make other people happy by being happy!"

As they both got ready to go to bed.. Gunjan thanked Samrat for giving her time , "Samrat, Thank you so much. I had a great time. And i know you were busy but you still took out time for me.. Thank you!" Samrat smiled at her, "Then even I should tell you thank you for taking me on that Shopping Spree!" he laughed. This was the first time Gunjan had seen Samrat laugh. ' Did he just.. did he just laugh? I cant believe in these 3 months of marriage I have never seen him laugh. And today he laughed. Sameera was right. I can actually feel that happiness within seeing him laugh.' "We should do that more often" Gunjan said laughing. "No No.." Samrat said dreading it. "But really.. I had a great time!" she said. Samrat smiled and he too felt true happiness within him. He was now satisfied. He had made Gunjan cheer up a little more. But he was still curious who did the better half of it?
