Acting isn't the only passion for Amita Chandekar. The long-legged lass likes spending her free time with a paper and pencil in hand.
"During my schooldays, I liked sketching diagrams. I would get excited each time we were asked to sketch something.
Slowly, I started copying cartoons from Archie comics. However, I never thought of taking it up as a profession."
Apart from pencil sketches, the actress also has a knack for painting.
"They were two different creative outlets. If I had to choose between them, I would definitely opt for sketching. It's easier and more flexible. Painting requires more concentration and time," she says.

Christ sketch
Amita recalls the time her brother challenged her to sketch Jesus Christ for him. "He had a very tiny picture of Jesus, and asked me to copy it.
His point was, if I could do that, I would be good at my art. I drew the sketch and showed it to him, and that's when he started appreciating my talent."
Has she ever thought of holding an exhibition? "No, since acting takes up all the time, I haven't really considered displaying my work. I like watching the work of other artists — it's a gift that everyone should cultivate."

Want a facial?
How much time does she take to make a sketch? 'It depends on my mood and the picture. At times, it could take days; sometimes, it barely takes an hour."
The actress hasn't attempted portraits yet, but is excited at the idea. "Capturing someone's face requires lot of concentration, and I'm not sure if I am ready for it yet. But in due course, I would like to try my hand at one."
