TOI: Imtiaz Ali's turn around

In an interesting turnaround, director Imtiaz Ali, who had gone on record to say how "Jab We Met" was initially conceptualized by him as a serial only, during the launch of the teleserial "Love U Zindagi" with which he is associated, seems to be fighting shy now.

Said to be his small screen debut, "Love U Zindagi" was seen as a copy of "JWM", but unlike the very popular film, the serial has not gone down well with the viewers. There are unconfirmed rumours about the show going off air too. Ali, who was involved in conceptualisation of the show, says, "Very honestly, I have not seen the serial and nor did I have much to do with it. I did sit in a few of the brainstorming sessions and yes, I sat in the press conference when it was being announced. But that was it. Frankly, I am not surprised it did not do well. who wants to see a day-by-day account of "JWM" on TV when there is no Kareena Kapoor or Shahid to lure them to it. Also, "JWM" itself is screened on TV every other day." A case of washing his hands off a bad job, dare we say?
