Karan-Bhushan make music together
TNN | Jun 12, 2011, 12.00am ISTThe company has now acquired the music rights of Karan Johar's forthcoming film, Short Term Shaadi, starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. It is the first time in the history of T-Series that it has acquired the music rights of a film by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. For Bhushan Kumar, the development has a sentimental value too. The music giant has always been an ardent admirer of Karan Johar's films and had always looked forward to this association.
Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Shakun Batra, Short Term Shaadi is a romantic comedy that has Imran playing a unique role – that of a highly conservative, fussy architect, with a rigid attitude. He falls in love with Kareena Kapoor, a liaison which changes him completely. Kareena, on the other hand, plays a hairstylist who teaches him about life and love. "I have always loved the films made by Karan Johar, not only for their content and aesthetic appeal, but also for their beautiful music, which has always been their major strength. We are delighted to have acquired the music rights of Short Term Shaadi. And we hope that this is just the beginning of a long creative association," said Bhushan Kumar.
T-Series has cornered almost 90 per cent of the Indian music market, and in recent years, has acquired the sound tracks of top films like Ghajini, Golmaal Returns, Om Shanti Om, Taare Zameen Par, Jab We Met, Sarkar Raj, Don, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Krrish, Partner and Chalte Chalte among several others. The company's latest association with Dharma Productions is being seen as a meeting of two giants that could take the industry by storm.
