Panchi's Engagement Ring

I feel like the ring has some sort of significance or spell attached to it. Neel's mom just rushed the engagement waaay too quickly for there not to be some sort of motive. As werewolves, maybe they can trap Panchi if she is wearing the ring? Perhaps she will feel like she is in love with Neel or something like that while Neel's mom uses her new relationship for her ulterior motive?
