His father has played the game and his uncle, K.V.Dravid played for the Holkars. First step towards Cricket Dravid started playing cricket at the age of 10 in the streets of Banglore. His school had a good cricket team and Rahul performed well in the Junior Tournaments to merit selection in the state under 15, under 17 and under 19 tournaments. Rahul though failed to deliver in his debut ODI match at Singapore in the Triangular Tournament( India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), it was his Test debut performance in the England tour which earned him a permanent berth in the Indian Team. Guides According to Dravid G R Vishwanath, K K Tarapore, Roger Binny and Brijesh Patel are the ones who helped him in polishing his batting techniques .

Was a little disappointed that he could not see Sun City during his trip to South Africa.

Once he got out in a Junior match and started crying in the dressing room. Seeing this his friends started laughing and teasing him. Love for Animals He loves nature and animals and is more of a country person. He is always willing to contribute to a good cause. Loves watching wild life programs.

Rahul Dravid has been voted by the youth of India as MTV Youth Icon of the Year coming up trumps in a field comprising of people who are all role models for the Indian youth.
