Chapter 23 ? The Band

Sunday

Maan was to start in hospital tomorrow. Annie still had a month to start her college. Geet also planned to start her office tomorrow. Finally Rahul had relented and agreed for her to overlook finance department as that was her favorite and also will not be that physically tiring as overseeing operations.

All were settled well in the new flow. Even though now there were two different houses but mostly it was more for sleeping than anything else. All the meals happened together and elders were very happy and they were inseparable. For them it was like college time when four of them stuck like glue and did everything together.

Maan tried his best to spend as much time as possible with Geet without being very obvious. Geet liked the attention she got but still was confused. She knew she was falling for Maan but was not sure of his feelings. She had bouts of shyness hit her and tried to avoid him at times. This was not missed by Maan.

Like a determined lion, Maan entered the foyer where everybody was busy in something or the other. Geet was sitting with Pari and Annie and were in deep discussion over new hairstyle for Pari. Geet noticed from the corners of her eyes as Maan moved towards Rahul and placed his hand on his shoulder gently.

Rahul looked up "Kya hua Maan"

"Mujhe kuch baat karni thi tujhse"

"Haan bol na"

"Woh I am planning to pull a band together. So that we can spend some time weekly and make some music. Tu aur Geet to join karo ge na? Pari, I don't know about you so?"
Maan said now looking at Pari

Geet self talk ? "Dusht Danav?meri taraf dekh kar baat nahin bol sakta tha?ok I agree I also avoided him yesterday evening par main to ladki hoon?mera to haq hai na...chado"

"Cool...that's a great idea?I am in aur Geet tu bhi join karegi na."

"Hmmm?.aur kaun hai"

"Toh main pinky se pooch loon"

"Oh I am like Annie?totally tone deaf?hum log sirf audience ka kam kar sakte hain" Pari giggled.

Raj - "aur hum?.humse nahin puchoge?"

"Sorry bade pa, no elders...aap guest ki tarah kabhi kabhi aa sakte ho" Maan replied with a wink.

"acha bachu...humse panga...humne music sikhaya ab hum nahin allowed"

"nahin nahin bade pa...main to mazak kar raha hoon"

"Par main nahin?itni himmat?sazza milegi tumhein"

"Kya!!!?lekin"

"Mehfil sajayi jaaye aur kuch pesh kiya jaye?dil behlao humara"Raj imitated in Akbar Badshah's voice

Everybody screamed "yeah?"

"Hmmm?.jo hukum badshah"

Maan got his guitar where as Geet sat at the piano. Rahul was settled next to table to give drum beats. Maan started with guitar strings ?

Geet's felt her heart fluttering. Is he singing this for me? Kya mein?she felt really shy and broke the eye contact. Her cheeks were flaming red and she lowered her head.

Maan saw her blush which was now covered with hair falling on her face as she sat sideways from him. He so wanted to run his hands through those strands of black silk. His heart sang with all the truthiness in the world?

They both felt each other's presence. Their hearts knew that this song was just for two of them. Maan was judging her each and every movement in response to his words and he saw light at the horizon. "Yes?yes?she is affected by me?she is"

There was no bound to his happiness. He got the confirmation he was looking for though he knew it was still very early. He didn't want to scare her into a denial.

Maan came back to reality as every body hooted and whistled. Geet still looked down as she was very restless and blushing hard. Maan decided to give her some time as he could understand her awkwardness. He deftly kept attention on him to give her space to recover.
