Ashutosh Gowariker on Oscar jury

Ashutosh Gowariker, director of the Oscar nominated Hindi film Lagaan, has been included in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the directors branch which gives him voting rights in the Oscar Awards. This is a big achievement and honor for the competent Indian filmmaker. DVD's of all the Oscar nominations for about 20 categories will be send to Gowariker. The membership also confers him the rights to use the Academy's library, film archives, attend screenings and the Academy Awards night.
Gowariker is presently busy with the post production work of his next film Swades which releases in December 2004.
