'Hey!' He was taken back as he suddenly felt the smooth roll of the fabric flattening against his eyes "What's all this?" He exclaimed as he turned in profile to her, who with a smile tightened the knot of the blind fold she had just wrapped around him. More curious, he was, as to what awaited him when she had evaded his kisses and instead opted to play out hide and seek in his brother-in-law's garden. The similar maroon block prints against the white background of her sari had made the like motif kerchief disappear, which she had tucked at the turn of her sari by her hip, making it oblivious to him. Of course, she had rehearsed mentally on the way to the waterfall, only to grow more nervous over the play she had in mind. It was still rudiment to enact out the way she had planned and yet, she thought there was no better time to drive the message home, given that she sensed him being attuned to her needs.
"Um! Just turn around and..." she drawled a whisper as she walked away from him, her giggle resounding in the thick cold air of the night; or rather it was just him.
"Oh! yeah and you can't make a sound...and don't talk" she said, hearing which he conked up his brows in question, which strained under the tight wrap about his eyes.
"What do you have in mind Mrs Maan Khurana?" He asked pouting a smile and standing akimbo. She had turned him around a couple times before she had distanced herself and so he now stood with his back to her, unknown to her foot retreating backwards to a nearby rock, to get her payals out. As she lifted her foot to the top, her anklets jangled giving away her position. He whisked back instantly and stumbled his way across to her, all the while portraying his acceptance into the game while his lips curved. But before he could cover the few tens of feet, she drifted past him in a swoosh beyond his arms reach and made it towards the wide trunk of the gracious willow. He was beginning to lose his spatial positioning in the garden, clearly that he was not accustomed to the surroundings and the absence of her nearness was beginning to unnerve him. All in good spirits, he dismissed the indignant feeling and started his search for her in what seemed to be the direction he felt she must have passed him. With his hands held out and just as she had instructed him, without another sound, he roamed close to the clear path that directed him into an alcove by the tree. The grassy path was studded with smooth curvy marbles, serving as a pathway, leading to an unknown destination. Picking pace, he moved ahead carefully, only to come in close quarters with a serrated false wall, over which a thin veil of water cascaded. He guided his hand, tracing over the wall, while feeling the vertical notches and advanced in the side he concluded, the thickness of the water grew at length.
"Aah!" He hissed but quickly swallowed the grunt that followed, as his left foot hit a mass of obstructing stone. The pain instantly shot through his toes to have him lift his feet off the ground and wiggle it to appease the sharp discomfort that slowed him down at the junction. Once the rush of blood to the aching part subsided, he bent down to run his fingertips over the surface of what seemed like the beginning of the stone bank that barricaded the pool of rippling water from the artificial waterfall.
The quiet didn't settle with him. It was not the tranquil from the piercing sound, for there were plentitude of chirping, splashing, swaying of the low branches along with the howls of the gale, but her missing laughter and chuckles, wrapped him in a chilling silence. At such times it was impossible for him to tell how much time had passed by since the fold pressing against his lids and created whirls of orange and green rings in what he called a doomed blackness. It could have only been a minute or a whole of 5 full minutes that he was swinging back and forth, seeming lost and deserted. He felt he was counting down to a moment of climax as his anxiety scaled. When it came across as some kind of a cruel joke, he kicked his feet in the air in frustration and whipped about, removing the blindfold from his eyes with a loud grunt.
That is when he saw her, blindfolded too and running her hand, patting the thick branch, like it was the landmark about which she was guiding her own way. But then she must have sensed something that kept her from proceeding forward, that she momentarily paused and swiveled away from the path.
For a moment, imagining the instance from seconds ago, while he still had the blindfold on, made it all surreal to him. Where was she going with all this? Was the only question that plagued his core the very moment. To his own surprise, he felt sorry for her, seeing her trying to make her way towards him. The scene could mean a thousand things and it reminded him of the deep and dark truths of life, of his own search for love and light. When what greeted his eyes, swelled his heart with a chaos of torment and denial, he decided to break the silence that rose between them.
"Geet..." He called out, as he moved towards her, his voice constricted with misguiding concern. She instantly paused and turned in the direction of his voice, appearing more irked that he had spoilt the game for her. Like the success of finding him in the game mattered much and that perhaps was the only way to salvage what was left of their long distance relationship.
"You can't be serious...are you?" He asked, continuing on that thought "How long did you think I was going to search for you blindfolded?" His questions came out as gentle chiding to her, catching wind of the forced laughter in his tone. She knew it really didn't mean anything was serious...YET.
"Well as long as it takes...but I have to say, you don't have a lot of patience" Chuckling hard, suppressing something heavier she added "You give up too soon"
"What does this look like to you?" He questioned, pulling her closer by her elbow, now that she was almost mere inches from his body, her fisted hands came to rest on his chest. She raised her eyebrows puzzled, when his question didn't quite have her grasp at what he was hinting towards, she took it to row the conversation her way.
"Huh!" She droned a bit "More like our everyday life, don't you think?" She said, launching another mystery for him solve. But again she quickly continued not leaving him in that state longer "This is how I think we look like from far, when you don't talk to me. I'm indeed lost without your words" She said with what looked like a smile, hoping to lead him astray that she was still wanting to keep it light with him.
Had she had her blindfold off, she would have seen he had a part worried and part angry look on his face. The annoyance perhaps stemming from his own ignoring of the subject, she was calling his attention to. It seemed that he had known it all along and hearing her spill the words made it so much more dreadful. The foggy picture in his mind, cleared up, etching itself out like chisel on stone that it was indeed a cry for help, for him to reach out to her. With not just actions but also with words that she most sought after...
When he didn't respond, and only encircled his arms around her waist protectively, she gave an understanding smile. As he took off the blindfold off her face, she slumped into his shoulder, without meeting his eyes, worrying him a tad bit more than what he already was. He gave her a breather of what looked like a few seconds and then lifted her chin, tipping her head away from his body. She obliged and came to meet his eyes with almost no resistance that he now believed that she had only anticipated him to do so any second. While the thought faded, he gazed into her eyes and it only came across as a black illusion veiling much more of what lay underneath. But now that he was peering into those translucent eyes of hers, he sensed the angst alongside a sliver of contentment in her that oddly calmed his own nerves down. Perhaps he was as perceptive as she gave him credit for often...but then it brought him to a contention point over his silence that had long troubled her. Well no one really had all their skills at their dismissal at all times, did they? So not to sound swollen-headed or casual about the issue at hand, he forgave himself, though only for an interval, to attend to her. It really did help being in denial sometimes, he thought, and just like that, as if the last couple of seconds in time had never existed, his own stupid ramblings made him give out a small silly smile. It amused her, amongst all things irony making her lift her cupped hand to his cheek. Right then, he had done the same, letting go of her waist and had brought his hand to her smooth cheek. If that didn't do it, they tried to speak at the same time letting out a "I..." in unison. Both smiled and looked away for the shortest while and then once again attempted to speak, almost at the very instant, as if it was only a well scripted play where both were enacting the same part and it then had them roiling with laughter. So much for her own concerns of knotting him up in all seriousness; she pondered.
"I'm going to give it all...just try me" he said, with a mock attitude. Stepping out the scene, it could only be comprehended that the love struck pair were talking in puzzles, but in their own world, it made all sense to each other. He understood without doubt why she did what she had done and alike him, she knew he meant every single word of it. Though his tone was laced with a jolt of laughter, there was something very solemn about those words that had undertones of a vow in the making. This time even she felt, the situation only deserved a careful ration of words and that any intention to explain it beyond would spoil it for them. She was nearly feeling the moisture accumulate in the corner of her eyes, when a splosh of round drop of rain pattered on her cheek, making him shift his gaze to the sliding bead.
It came to her as a message; that the ethereal beauty of the night all over them was meant for a lot more than just getting her point across. But he was already pulling on her wrist, tugging her along towards the entryway. She let go of his clutch and he turned over slightly surprised at her abrupt hesitation to head back to the comforts of their sojourn. Shielding his eyes from the angling rain that was picking up pace, he saw her with her hands on her hips and all, ready like a five year old about to throw a tantrum. He gestured her to follow, when she plainly refused.
"Oh! Common Maan...don't be a spoil sport. Finish up the game..." A smile was waiting to show up from the tip of her lips as she added "Else I will never find out if you have that questioning patience to seek me out in the dark" She said, lifting her blindfold to his eye level.
And with the same suddenness, she coughed up some more words in a hurry in a want to come across unambiguous "And it's just you looking for me this time...not the other way round" She said as he contemplated if it only meant in regards to the game at hand.
In a matter of minutes, she had him chasing her once again in the alcove by the Willow tree. She never went any farther than his arm's length as the rain became a gentle sprinkle. It was her good or ill luck she wondered, as she shot a fleeting glace down at her own drenched sari. What was to happen to her, if he would see her mightily wet to the bone? Almost tempted not to just leave it to her imagination, she lingered close, ducking another of his wicked snare for arms. She dodged him moving hither and thither, from left to right, while going from his back to face him forward, openly giving away her relative position with her giggles, she never did falter to leave his vicinity more than a few feet. He really was indulging her in this game of blindfold, for he could have caught her minutes earlier with how close she ran around him. But just as he cornered her by the giant trunk of the tree and when she had nowhere to run, he gave up his pretense to hold her by her waist casually, scoffing at her own trapping.
"Aha! So you finally give in..." he mocked her, as she held her ground still, without as much as a slither. And that is when he realized that both his hands were resting on her bare skin at the sloping curves of her waist, which only did mean that either she was entirely missing her aanchal or it had bunched up slipping down further, from where she had covered the right side of her hip. His fingers unconsciously shivered at their place of contact, feeling her wetness that was boring into his consciousness, the mental image of how she stood in front of him. It had the discerned effect on him making his lips part involuntarily and parched his throat. This time it was not his raking eyes but his devilish fingers that did the trick as it tickled her skin while he mounted it upwards, arousing a pool of warmth in pit of her stomach. A swish of something and flutter of ardor coursed her skin, forcing the beads of rain on her, to slide down and under, having her skin come alive with consciousness to the touch of his fingertips.
The gap between them seemed pregnant with a two way quietude that induced another layer of electricity in the air. In the fact, that he only felt her state with all his senses, to the exception of his eyes, made it all the more novel. His piquing ears measured her thrumming gasps that she let out as his fingers climbed up her body and his chest felt the heaving of her own against his, revealing her angst of passion that built up in her. Perhaps, she was coming to live the term sweet torture as her body convulsed under him. A fresh course of desire traversed her veins, making her slither on him, just as a tingle ran down her spine and she shuddered.
Teasing her agony all the while, he slowly caressed her skin, along the side of her curves, moving beyond her shoulder, to find her hands placed on either side of her head. He smiled as he concurred that she must have been trying to reach her aanchal that was perhaps tugging a twig above her. Not caring for the tail end of her sari, he laced his fingers with her own and in a longing moment closed the distance between them, bringing him to rest on her entirely. He sensed her panic like that of a newlywed bride under his weight and smirked at that inching closer to find her lips. At first she didn't play around with him, as his lips traced the corners of her wet lips or her nape, heightening the moment of the kiss itself, but when he was right about to take in her lower lip into his, she turned away with a smile. And she dodged him a couple of more times. But him being him, when his own need to feel her kiss mangled, while his eyes glowered at her and his forehead furrowed, with a tinge of ire, he stiffened his clutch on her fingers and that lightly thudded the back of her fingers against the mossy bark. In hope to relieve of her own tormenting desires, she gave in...
As soon as she felt him finally kiss her, in what seemed like eternity since their last kiss, she raised herself on tiptoes as her toes prickled. With the pressure on her lips giving away his throbbing zest, her hands left his and she crunched up his collar hauling him upon her. When the sensual kiss was maturing them to another realm of carnal delight, as their hands in a heated urgency caged each other, they felt someone take flight across the garden on the other side of the tree. They came apart immediately in a jerk and he went looking for the intruder, after removing the piece of handkerchief that ran across his eyes, as she steadied her sari and aanchal. None was in sight as he waited for few more seconds and once he was assured no one was there, he swiveled back to lift her in his arms. He rushed them inside, maintaining his gaze on her shy eyes not caring anymore for how wet they were or who they might encounter. She was all he saw and tonight only she would be in her view...just as some blind folds came off...
A bad case of block this time and it took me ten days and another FF on the side (to indulge myself) to get out of this one. Lord! I wish I didn't have these severe episodes that totally, and literally too, block me out of writing and IF. Missed me people? Here it is, the concluding part of Blind fold and hopefully we will wrap up NY times soon. Let me know how it came out. Hope it didn't suck like my block.
