Ramdei is touched when Rani puts out breakfast for her in her room. She concocts a story about her mother to gain Ramdei's sympathy. Rani brings tea for Kesoo and Laachi. Laachi tells her never to do anything for them again. Radha allows Rani to hand Sarju his shirt. He mistakes Rani for Radha. Mrs. Hiraman is pleased when she receives a letter from Gopal. She lies to Ramdei about the contents of the letter to extract money out of her. Believing her story about Gopal's ill health, Ramdei gives her a large sum of money. Mrs. Hiraman tells Phulmani about her plan. Radha overhears their conversation. She decides to get a hold of the letter to unearth Mrs. Hiraman's plan to the entire family.
