to me Music is a similar force ... in fact of all the man made things in this world only music has been bestowed the humbling and powerful quality of transcending everything including borders wherein even words and language hold no meaning when it takes over simply because like the wind water and sun... its truly a force that becomes as much as a part of you as your heartbeat... it can linger on in the loneliest hours with the most melancholic tunes and sometimes express joy wordlessly... it truly makes me so happy to hear from you that I am perhaps doing the right thing in a correct way too somewhat Aahana, @bold, beautiful. I have been told that the word for heart in Sanskrit comes from a word which means 'that which leaps' for at some point people felt this vessel inside them that moved. As you rightly said, music is a means to that which distinguishes us from the unaffected things of this earth.
... now that I have learned somewhat to play with it I try to use it even as a addon to the effect of my VM.. if you notice this vm had a yellowish tone in parts with a blurry/dreamy effect ... that was simply to highlight the gloominess of sorrow which seemed to have paled their today and made things so hazy around them as they are still surrounded at all times in memories of their past wherever they go that despite moving around with everyone else... Yes, this is the exact ambiance you expertly created. It definitely came through.
Sabah once again thank you for that delightful delightful comment I am truly obliged to you for which It is I who is indebted. I loved your replies and insights, truly remarkable. ⭐️
Now to the business at hand. In Lamhon Ke Daaman.
I loved the choice of song and scene, ⭐️⭐️⭐️the musical instruments enhance the playful nature of both the weather and Gunjan. The Strings that illuminate that pitter-patter of raindrops & the innocence of Gunjan. The drums that emphasize their dignity and honour, discreetly drawing attention to the fact that within that same scene lies a path to storms and a woman. Just like a cloud carries the means to drizzle, rain or storm so within a person we carry every age. Gunjan the little girl of innocence, the teenager who holds onto truth, the girl of honourable haya and the woman who earned love. Each age found in every Jhalak within each movement of her perfect form.
Brilliant timing for that first 'In lamhon ke' as Samrat joins her. I loved the choreography, @0:30, mein, as Samrat pulls her 'in' to them. That retort of Gunjan's timed TO PERFECTION @0:32 to coincide with the beat of the drum! ⭐️⭐️⭐️EXCELLENT! 😃
The choice of song is wonderful because as I said it contains both playful elements and solemn notes, so as their interaction progresses onto something more serious the song does not need to change as it accommodates both. The masti and the momentous, the entwined aspects of SaJan.
That final crossover into their new age of history @0:50, perfectly timed to 'khamosh si hai Zameen, hairaan sa falak hai.' ⭐️👏 Again capturing their own emotions as well as the weather's. Then that excellent edit @1:02 which merges Gunjan's racing heartbeat to Sonu's quickened 'Nagmein hi, Nagmein' so wonderfully then brought together for 'jaagti soti fizaon mein' The up and down movements of a wind affected by melody, JUST LIKE Gunjan's chest moving up and down as her breathe deepens, her heartbeat quickens. 😳 ⭐️ Aahana, that was just genius! 😳 The following lines intensifying upon the last, husn hai saari...then that wonderful Ishq hai jaisi hawaon mein' as both the wind (as seen in the rapid movement of the curtains) and Samrat caress her neck. ⭐️
Then that culminating moment as Samrat manoeuvres to face Gunjan, the music signaling the sincerity of the situation. It is not about the act, but that it had to be her! Then that PERFECT timing as he removes the glasses, not as in most films to 'finally' see her beauty or remove that veil between it and her BUT rather he removes it as a barrier to closeness, being physically closer to her. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love how you use those scenes where Sonu elongates the words, as if time slows down and they just lie there, next to each other. This feeling can not be borrowed, begged or bought it can only occur naturally JUST LIKE those petals floating down to join them into the sublime, between two people who have earned true and pure love, so that nearness alone brings forth sweet relief engulfed by intense passion. Beautiful, Aahana, something I had been meaning to say about this scene for a long time but just could not find the means, now it is out! inspired by your vm.
" If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to," to quote Nalick. This metaphor of the weather, or rain pours through SaJan's story. As we mentioned before the promo where Gunjan protects herself from the harshness of a cold world but thereby also protects herself from the pleasures of the earth. Then Samrat comes opening her heart, mind and soul to its wonders, so she abandons the umbrella and lets herself become soaked.
That Rose day, when she thought is was a declaration of love, she let herself drown, right until she saw those colours of petals. Then the pool party, when Samrat forced nature to shower her, in the pink of blossoming love. Then after court party, the glittering of falling stars entrance as destiny illuminated to Samrat the light that had always been shining in front of him. Then that PBM, finally that shower of petals over flowing in the red of Samrat's bursting, beating, overwhelming love. Then finally as your vm showed they Finally the night they came together, in the rain, NO UMBRELLAS IN SIGHT!
Then then final shower of blossoming love, those tress naturally showering them in their own haya. Proving to me, that true love can not be forced, it flows naturally, like the stages of SaJan, we must just trust destiny and become drenched in true love! Drenched in Sajan!
Kaise Jazbaat Ka Umda Salab Hai ! Aahana, just remarkable and wondrous! Thank you.
Then that badlein verse, with that perfect flashback, overlaying the tremendous change of what they were and have become. As I said to Diya, just recently, It is difficult to discern which drop of rain brings with it that quenching of a thirst felt by a parched land, gathering together once again cracks so that it feels connected, complete and whole.
Just like SaJan, their proposal, that moment of sweet relief was so weighty because it carried all the moments preceding it, all the happiness, all the sorrow and woe BUT significantly it carried all the weight of those moments yet to be!
That drop is destined to be 'nurture' of a land; that word a union of two minds, a friendship however mild. 😳 They were not ever 'just one alone' but always part of a union that was meant to be so it is not one drop of rain or one word but it is the whole.
I loved how @2:45 you used the lull in the song INSTEAD of the beat of the drum, to enhance that moment Gunjan gave herself to Samrat, for it was not a thunderbolt moment but one that stops this weather itself! 👏 It is also more like the subtle and thereby striking nature of Gunjan.
That beautiful ethereal shot of Gunjan for the lyric 'samay ne kya kiya' excellently chosen! ⭐️👏
I loved how from 3:44 for 'milo dekhe aise hain hum' you switch around so that what was present is now the past, upon which she reminisces. Inspired choreographing! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved the timing for 'man bhi hain tan bhi, tan bhi hai man bhi' as their fingers interlocked, beautifully pieced together. ⭐️
I loved how you expertly segued back to Samrat's laconic actions at the window for the male verse, so the lyrics echo his heart's sentiments. I loved that moment @6:08 for 'adaon mein' catching Gunjan's turn brilliantly and illuminating her beauty more so. ⭐️⭐️
Aahana, although I am NOT accusing you of affectation of modesty but I hope this post shows you that this disclaimer is far from the truth.Disclaimer : well I have nothing much to say about this VM honestly i have just played with some scenes here added a song I so so love and have done some coloring so that the main focus is not on the surroundings but the protagonists Samrat & Gunjan as the lyrics flow along with the moments in the songYou EXCELLENTLY EDITED scenes, to a well chosen song, added hues to enhance the ambiance, and choreographed the whole so wondrously that I am keeping this vm in my collection, choosing to remember that night as such.
Thank you for sharing, and if you managed to read this maha post, then thank you once again. I love your vms!
Love Sabah
