It was a regular saturday morning at Maurya High. Students were hanging out at the canteen for a late breakfast ..making plans 4 movies,shopping,visiting family...sonal masi smiled at the non-stop chatter as she went to serve coffee to vrinda and ashi.
"sat. morning's always the same here,"she said with her trademark warm smile."u children speak more than u do all week." vrinda smiled at her but ashi seemed lost in her own world.in fact,her face waz rather sad."is anything wrong,beta?"asked sonal masi.vrinda shook her head at her,signalling sonal masi not 2 say ne more."i'm fine masi,"said ashi glumly but even as she said it it waz obvious she waz lying.her mind was somewhere else...based on last night's incident which had shook her in a way which was difficult 2 imagine.
It had been Yuvi's birthday treat in his room for his select group of friends...sid,varun,ranveer,tia, meher,pri,ashi,vrinda...n of course his latest girlfriend latty!ashi had known yuvi n latty had started going around...she evn knew dat latty had proposed yuvi 3 times and the 3'rd time he had agreed.but wot she wasn't prepared 4 waz the way she n yuvi were all over each other yest. latty constantly held his hand, and clung 2 him like he waz her sole property.she insisted he give her the cake first,she kissed him on the cheeck,she made sure she waz next 2 him 24/7 and the worst part waz...yuvi seemed 2 enjoy all the attention in an amused way.
"but why shud i mind?"thought ashi.after all,she n yuvi had broken up almost a yr back.or rather,she had broken up wid him.it waz just dat when she saw him with latty she felt sometimes--"waz i right?shud i hav given him a second chance?"the word 'second chance' kept revolving in her head.yuvi had begged,pleaded 4 a second chance...but she had never consented.how many times her hardness of heart had wrung tears from him... and yest. he seemed genuinely happy,if not delighted, to have latty. fawning on him.
why oh why waz life so hard...ashi sighed n something hade her remeber the way latty had kissed yuvi.in fact the way she said-"MY boyfriend" --putting all the emphasis on my.there waz a time when he had been ashi's boyfriend,when they had deld hands n walked on a balmy moonlit evening never dreaming of separation, of parting,of tears.when the moment had been everything,when 1 kiss had been worth more than words cud ever express.....there had never been any need 2 b possesive,2 say "MY boyfriend" bcoz they both knew they belonged 2 each other n never mind abt the world....
"ashi,plz have ur coffee,"said vrinda timidly.she had been watching ashi who waz in a state of mind which waz clearly distured."maate,plz mujhe akela chod do..." said ashi impatiently."c'mon,ashi,i'm ur friend..." "so when did i say we were enemies?maate,friendship ka yeh matlab nahin ki we hav 2 tell each other everything is it?"
vrinda smiled-"u acknowledge sumthing is the matter?ashi i know u r upset abt yuvi n latty." "vrinda plz!"ashi pulled hersled 2gether."main yuvi aur latty ke baare mein kyon sochoo?i mean,do u think i hav nothing better 2 do than worry abt a psycho n his loser girlfriend?in fact i wud hav said they r made 4 each other."at that moment she happened 2 look up n wot she saw made her choke on her coffee....
