Last week, I felt unwell yet again and assumed that being anemic must be the reason. I was about to inform Naitik about my condition but decided against it as I did not want to worry him unnecessarily. He has been so excited about his work which is doing well. It gives me great satisfaction to see him happy and I did not want to ruin his excitement at any cost, especially since he was preparing to leave for Delhi.
However, the next day when my condition worsened, I decided to inform Naitik over the phone. He was worried but I assured him that I will take care of myself and visit the doctor. I can't express the joy I felt when the doctor informed me that I AM PREGNANT. I was so happy when I became a bua and now I am going to have a baby of my own- it felt like a dream.
However the joy was short-lived as I recalled Naitik's thoughts on becoming a parent. He had said a while ago that he was not ready to be a father yet. I was tense about breaking the news to him and finally decided against revealing the news to Naitik and the rest of the family. It's a huge dilemma for me, as on one hand I am thrilled to become a mother, but I cannot share my joy with my loved ones, as I am not altogether sure that Naitik will share my excitement. The only one I could confide in is my best friend and sister-in-law, Varsha. She eased my tension by assuring me that Naitik will be overjoyed after hearing the good news. After all, Varsha too went through the phase where Shaurya dadu felt that he was unprepared to be a father. But look at him now; he is such a doting dad.
Despite my tension and worries, I decided to plan Naitik's upcoming birthday and make it a memorable one. I planned to bake a cake for him and helped in the preparations for the party. The baby news, I decided, would have to wait for until a little later. However, during the party, in the midst of all the happenings and my anxiety about having to keep such a big secret, I broke down and told Naitik that I was pregnant.
Although I feel like a huge load has been lifted off my chest, I'm still very worried about Naitik's reaction. I hope and pray that he has changed his mind about parenthood and is ready to become a father. Afterall, this will be our first baby and I want to be as excited about it as I am.
