TOI: Krutika does a Mandakini

Even an older character of a mature and disciplinarian Ambaaji in Ram Milaayi Jodicouldn't deter veteran Krutika Desai from fulfilling her long lived dream of getting wet in a sari a la Bollywood beauty Mandakini.


The current track of the show features her character cursing herself for having trusted her daughter-in-law Mona played by Sara Khan. In a bid to wash away the sin of trusting someone unreliable, Ambaaji is seen bathing furiously with Ganga jal in her courtyard draped in a heavy sari.

This scene required a completely dry Krutika storming into the courtyard and pouring tumbler after tumbler of the holy water on her head. She gave her first take and got completely drenched. With technical glitches and camera angles being fine tuned, another take was called for. Krutika, being drenched already, was required to go back to her vanity van and change into dry clothes so that she can wet them afresh all over again!

After the second take was not passed either, most members of the crew expected the actress to get a little grumpy and nagging but on the contrary, she sportingly said, "Wow! I feel like Mandakini! It's been my long-standing dream to do a wet sari sequence like Hindi film heroines and here I am, doing it as Ambaaji." Given how hip and happening Krutika is, as soon as the Gujarati garb and wig come off, all on the sets were pleasantly surprised to see her get drenched in water for the scene!
