Chapter One - The Beginning!!
"Uff why the hell am I getting so nervous?", a girl said while gripping her dupatta. She folded her hand and said, "Kaali Maa! Please be with me. Please help me in fulfilling my dream. Please give me courage." She kept praying when the receptionist said, "Who is Nupur Chatterjee here?" "Yes, it's me," the girl stood with a smile on her face and she's none other than our very own Nupur. She prayed to Kaali Maa for final time and went inside the audition room. She nervously stood in front of the judges. There were 2 judges. They understood Nupur's nervousness and smiled. Judge 1 asked Nupur, "So, Nupur, tell us why do you want to be a singer?" Nupur somehow hid her nervous expression. She replies with a smiley face, "Singing is my passion and I just love it. I think that through singing, we can easily connect to Kaali Maa and it's the only thing that gives soul peace. So it's my dream to become a singer." The judges seemed to be impressed with Nupur's answer. They smiled and judge 2 said, "Okay Nupur, so show us your talent." Nupur told the judges with a smile, "Sir, this is my most favorite song and I always sing it for my Onu Da." Then she starts singing the song, "Meri Dunia Hai Tujh Mein Kahi".
Two men were sitting. One of them said, "Okay Mr. Chatterjee. We will discuss about your transfer with our boss and we will let you know tomorrow." A guy who was sitting in front of them nodded his head and went out of the cabin. "Boss is very strict. I just hope he agrees for my transfer. If he doesn't then I'll have to wait again for a year. No way! I can't wait anymore to fulfill my dream of going to Mumbai. I just can't. Kaali Maa! Please do some miracle so that boss agrees. Please", he prayed with folded hands. "Oh yeah, last thing to ask Kaali Maa, please make Nupur's audition go well. Please help her fulfilling her dream.", he prayed again. Just then, someone calls that guy from back. He turned back and he's none other than our sweet Anurag. His collegue called him from behind and asked, "Did boss accept your transfer application?" Anurag took a sigh and worriedly answers, "I don't know yaar. I'll get to know it tomorrow." "Oh okay, so good luck for that", his collegue said. Anuraag replied with a smiley face, "Thanks." The collegue left. "I hope Nupur sang well in her audition", Anurag said to himself.
Nervous Nupur is standing in front of the judges after finishing her song. She is waiting for their comment. Judge 1 told Nupur seriously, "Nupur, your voice is really very good and you sang your best but..." "But what sir?" Nupur asked nervously. Judge 2 said making a sad expression, "Nupur, we are very sorry to say that..." Nupur was getting way too nervous now. She asked curiously, "That..?" The judges smiled and said together, "Nupur, you have been selected for the Mumbai audition." Hearing what the judges said, Nupur raised her brows and made her mouth wide opened. She was hell shocked, zapped, amazed and out of words. After a few seconds, she jumped in excitement and ran to the judges. The judges gave her the Mumbai Audition Card smilingly. Nupur just thanked them and ran out of the auditorium. She was very happy. She kept smiling and saying with folded hands, "Thank you Kaali Maa! Thank you so much. You heard my and Onu Da's prayers finally. Gosh I am so happy. I will go to Mumbai. Wow! It sounds super amazing. Finally I did the first step to fulfill my dream. Yes!" After a few moment of smiling, she suddenly remembered something. "Ohhoo I totally forgot out of this excitement. Onu Da is going to talk with his office authories about his transfer to Mumbai. What may have happened there? I should ask Onu Da right now." She went outside the building where the audition was taking place and started to search for a PCO booth. Finally, she got one. She went inside the booth and dialed Anurag's number.
Anurag is on the way to his home. His phone rang. He took out his phone from his pocket, received and said-
Anurag- Hello!
Nupur- Onu Da, Nupur here. Well I wanted to ask you that what your office authority said about your transfer?
Anurag [sad look]- They will talk with the boss today and let me know tomorrow. [takes a sigh and just then makes a curious look] Oh wait, first tell me that how was your audition?
Nupur [mischievously smiled]- Dada, don't talk about that. I am way too upset after whatever happened at the audition.
Anurag [worried]- Why? What happened Nupur? Why is my sweet lil sis upset?
Nupur [continues to be naughty]- Oh well, will tell you about it at home. Come home fast.
Anurag [confused and worried]- Yeah I am going home. You come back fast too.
Nupur- Okay, bye.
Anurag [very worried about his sis]- Bye.
As soon as Nupur hang up the phone, she burst out laughing. She said to herself, "Sorry Da, but I love to pull your leg. Let you be worried about your sweet lil sis for sometime and when you will get the good news that I have been selected, you will be very happy I know. But till then, keep being worried." Saying this, she mischievously smiled again and headed towards her home.
Anurag was sitting in his home. The home had only a room with a small kitchen and a bathroom attached to it. It's night now. Anurag was preparing dinner for him and Nupur. Soon there was a knock at the door. Anurag said, "It must be Nupur." Saying it, he walked to the door and openend it. Yes, it was Nupur. Nupur just silently entered into the house with a sad expression. Anurag was getting hell worried now. Worriedly he just went behind his sister, put his hands on her shoulder from back and asked, "Hey what happened? Weren't you selected for the Mumbai audition? Sis, please don't be sad. You know naa I can't see you sad." Nupur could not suppress her laughter anymore. She turned her face to Anurag and started laughing. Anurag confusingly asked, "Now why are you laughing?" Nupur said laughingly, "Felt like laughing to see your worried expression." Anurag was getting more confused now. He asked, "Means?" Nupur lovingly hugged her brother and told him with a smiley face, "Means I have been selected for the Mumbai Audition." Hearing this, Anurag gave a broad smile. After a few moments, his expression turned into anger which seemed totally fake though. He grabbed Nupur's arms, pushed her back and said, "God, Nupur you made me so worried. Do you realize how worried I was? You know I hate when you are sad still you..." Cutting Anurag off, Nupur hugged him again and told him smilingly, "I am your little sister naa. So its my right to pull your leg, isn't it? And by the way, don't pretend to be angry cuz I know that you and getting angry with me are two opposite poles." Anurag finally smiled hearing that. "That's why I hate myself", Anurag said peculiarly. Nupur smiled cutely and said, "And that's why I love you Dada." Hugging session goes on for a few minutes. Both siblings broke their hug and Anurag told his sister concernedly, "Okay so you get freshen up. I am getting the dinner ready for both of us. Make it fast cuz I am too hungry and I am sure you are too cuz you left without eating lunch." "Okay my dear sweet Onu Da", Nupur said smilingly. Then Nupur went to freshen up and Anurag went to prepare the lunch in the kitchen.
[After 15-20 minutes]
Nupur came out of the washroom while Anurag was serving food to both of their steel plates sitting on the mattress on the floor. She sat down on the mattress in front of Anurag. "I am sooo hungry Dada. Give me my plate fast." Anurag smilingly waved his head seeing Nupur like this and gave Nupur her plate. Both brother and sister started eating. They kept eating and talking about Mumbai-
Nupur [smiling while eating]- Onu Da!
Anurag [busy in eating]- Hmm!
Nupur [curious look]- Dada, Mumbai is a very big city naa?
Anurag- Yeah its the biggest city in India, you know that naa?
Nupur [worried]- Yeah I know. But don't know why I am feeling so strange. Feeling like our lives are going to change there.
Anurag [replied while eating]- Yeah obviously, our lives are going to change. You will be a singer and I will be a business man.
Nupur [worried]- I am not talking about that Dada. Its just like something else. Something very unknown and strange!
Anurag [looked at Nupur]- Sis, you are getting nervous a lot I guess. Don't worry too much! Your dada is here naa. So just relax and eat.
Nupur just nodded her head but she didn't seem convinced. Though she was eating quietly, she kept thinking with a worried look, "Kaali Maa, is this any signal of you? Why am I feeling like this? Again and again this thought is going on my mind. Feeling that something different is going to happen in our lives in Mumbai but confused if that's good or bad. Wondering what you have written on mine and Onu Da's destiny! Wondering what new is going to happen in our lives in Mumbai! Are we going to meet somebody who will change our lives? Don't know why I am feeling like that." Nupur was left confused as well as nervous.
Scene shifts to a dark house. A guy with a black mask on his face entered into the house through the window. He silently went to the master bedroom where he saw an old man sleeping. Seeing the owner sleeping, the guy entered into the room very slowly. He walked towards the cupboard and took out his master key from his pocket. He was going to open it, just then the owner moved in his sleep. The guy shivered in nervousness. He said to himself, "It is not safe to leave this buddha like that. I have to make him unconscious." Saying that to himself, he took out the chloroform and a handkerchief from his pocket, walked toward the bed and very cautiously, he made the old man unconscious. He took a sigh of relief and said, "Now he won't wake up till tomorrow noon. [looking at the old man] Sorry uncle, I have to do this. No other choice you know! I wish if I were not a perfect thief. But sadly, I am a perfect thief and I just can't help it." Saying this, he smirked. Then he quickly opened the cupboard and took all the money in his bag. While he was about to leave, he suddenly stopped and turned back. "Uncle, you will also need some money naa? So take it." He said this and took out a bundle of money from his bag where there were 20 bundles of one thousand notes. He kept that bundle on the bed and left. He went to a corner of the road where there is a few light. His beautiful grey eyes were seen. At last he took off his mask and guess what? He was our own Mayank. He said, "Chalo this work is over. Now I have to go to pick up Taani." Saying this, he sat on his bike [a sports bike - obviously a stolen sports bike] and left.
Scene shifts to a nasty bear bar. The song "Ringa Ringa from the movie Slumdog Millioniare" started playing. A girl, wearing skirt till her knees and a short top, putting her dupatta on her face and standing on the table, started dancing on the song. All drunkards were around the table. She started to give some hot and sexy looks and thumkas on the table. The song is going on. In the middle of the song, she came down the table and at one part, she removed her dupatta off her face and well she was our own sweet Taani. She kept dancing and intoxicating all the men around her. After her dance was over and she was going back inside, a drunkard grabbed her hand from behind. Taani angrily said to the drunkard, "Aye leave my hand!" "Wanna spend a night with me baby? I will pay you whatever you will wish for." the drunkard replied while struggling to stand properly. Tani got furious. She removed her hand from that drunkard's hand harshly and told him, "If again you say such things to me then I'll change the geography of your face. After that, you will not even be able to recognize yourself. It's true that I am a bar dancer but that doesn't mean that I am salable. My character is as pure as Ganga. Got it? So better don't you dare to touch me again. Stay away." Saying this, she was about to go, just then that drunkard touched her waist. Taani was burning with anger at that moment. She turned back and gave a tight slap to that idiot. The drunkard angrily raised his hand on Taani while Taani bravely grabbed his hand and twisted it back very badly. The drunkard shouted in pain. Taani left his hand and said, "Now I have just twisted it. If you again dare to do something like this then I am going to break it for sure." Saying that, Taani left from there.
