Chander Unplugged |
STAR One's political love drama Dhoond Legi Manzil Humein, gave us the character of Chander, a intense yet simple guy with idealistic fundas in life. |
Newcomer Yashwant from Himachal Pradesh, plays this role brilliantly and made an impact with the youth. He gets candid with us about his role as Chander, fans, acting and more… What kind of feedback have you got for your role? The response is fine and positive. I am glad that the audiences love my character a lot. Whatever interactions I have had with the people, it's been positive. They like my intense and mature role but at the same time, they also love my chemistry with Alka. Do you think working in a youth oriented show helps? Or is different? Yes, definitely it gives you a better space to showcase your acting. DLMH is very different from other shows on-air currently. It is a youth based political drama with a love triangle. We have seen many saas-bahu and college dramas but DLMH is zara hatke. Did you always want to be an actor? Yes, right from the childhood. I always wanted to become an actor and to gain more experience in this field, I took up modelling. How did acting happen to you? When I was in my hometown in Himachal Pradesh, I used to participate in college theatre. Gradually I developed passion for acting and came to Mumbai to pursue it. I did modelling for four years and was part of many commercials like Hero Honda, Pantaloons etc. I auditioned for Chander's role and I was thrilled to be selected to play this role. What do you find most challenging about Chander? Chander and I have the same qualities -simplicity, intensity but the most challenging aspect of Chander is the romance bit. Though I like the love track between Alka and him but in real life, I am not at all romantic. Would you behave like Chander when in love? I don't know what I would do as I am not that romantic. I haven't thought about love. What kind of hardships have you faced on the sets? We haven't faced any hardships as such but when we were shooting in Puna during December – January, it was tough to shoot as it was cold. It was difficult to concentrate on the lines as we were shooting outdoors. How aware are you about politics in India? I really don't like politics in India but just few days ago, I was glad to know that in our country we still have strong men like Anna Hazare, who fight for the common man. He said a lot about his anti- corruption drive and that if he would have done this 10 or 20 years ago, the situation in India, especially Indian politics and our society would have been different. But I feel der aaye durust aaye. What was the toughest scene in the show? I think it would be the Holi sequence. It was very challenging to dance as I am very bad at dancing. The whole dancing sequence was very embarrassing for me but somehow I managed it. Now, I have decided to join dance classes. Who are you friends with / close to in the cast? I am friendly with everyone. We all are like a huge family and it's nice to work with so many talented people. I get along with Abhishek and Alka. One should be friends with your co-stars as you have to work with them. Message for fans… I just want audiences to watch our show as we all are putting our 100% effort. I am also happy that the fans are loving the Alka-Chander jodi. Keep watching our show. God Bless us all. Don't forget to watch Chander at his best in Dhoond Legi Manzil Humein every Monday to Saturday at 9 pm only on STAR One. |
