Recap: Pinky and Adi are getting married. Geet and Maan have to meet again to go shopping and he still doesn't listen to her! ??
Chapter 13: Good News
The next 2 weeks flew by as wedding preparations were in full swing. Geet wanted to avoid being too involved but Pinky needed her help in every step. Seeing Maan hurt her more, as she wanted to be in his warm embrace. Geet could tell he avoided being anywhere near her as much as possible. His family would often get mad at him for not caring or helping out, but he shrugged it off saying that there was a lot of work at the office. His eyes had permanent dark circles around them and there was no happiness or even a trace of a smile near his face. Seeing him like that killed her and she wanted to tell him everything but Dev's threat always stopped her. Her family was something she was not willing to lose again.
She began meeting her family often and would just cry. They assumed it was tears of happiness of being back with them but the truth was that she had sacrificed her love for the love of her family. Was her decision right? She was not sure. Even if she did sacrifice her family, would Maan still accept her? She had lied to him and did not tell him she was married. She was living a miserable life and being happy for her family and her friend Pinky. She did not see much of Dev, thank God.
The day of the engagement was finally here. Geet was getting ready at home to go to the Khurana mansion. She had just finished putting on her jewelry when her bedroom door swung open. It was Dev.
"Where are you going?" he asked, eyeing her up and down because she was dressed up.
She did not bother to look up and started putting her bangles on, "It is my friends engagement."
"Where?" he questioned.
She did not want to tell him but really had no choice, "Khurana mansion."
"What are you serious? I am coming with you. There are going to be lots of big business people there and I cannot miss an opportunity like this!"
Dreading this answer from him, she turned towards him and begged "Dev, please do not make a scene there."
He walked towards her and grabbed her hair. She winced but that did not affect him. "Why are you scared that I will embarrass you?"
"Let me go, your hurting me!" she yelled and pleaded infront of him.
"I will do what I want you good-for-nothing b****."
"If you do not stop this instant, you cannot come with me," she threatened him. He immediately let go and threw her to the floor.
"I will be ready in ten minutes. Fix your face, it is all ruined with tears," he said before walking into the washroom.
Geet sat there and cried. She did not know what to do. She was stuck in a maze with no way out. She hated her life and nothing was in her hands. She did not even want to go to the party tonight but if she did not, the consequences could and would be deadly.
Breaking her out of thoughts, she reached for the phone that was ringing. It was Pinky and Geet told her what had just happened, while sobbing on the phone. Pinky was furious and upset but there was nothing she could do at the moment. She told Geet to forget Dev and just come to the engagement alone and right now! But Geet refused, knowing that Dev would kill her if she left without him. Soon Dev was out and ready and they left for the Khurana mansion in 15 minutes. It was a quiet ride there, as none of them said a word to each other nor looked at each other.
Upon arriving at the Khurana mansion, they both split, as Dev went straight to the bar and Geet went to meet Pinky. Pinky looked gorgeous in her outfit for the engagement and Geet helped her with the finishing touches. Savitri came in and was glad to see Geet there. She took out a bag and gifted it to Geet to wear tonight. Geet hesitated and said that she was already dressed and she did not have matching jewelry with the new outfit. But Savitri would not take no for an answer and soon Geet was dressed in the outfit gifted by Savitri.
Savitri put her black kohl liner from her eye behind Geet and Pinky's ears to cast off any evil eyes from them. She said they looked beautiful and wished they would always be happy like this. Geet smiled at the wishes from her and she truly wished that one day she would be happy again to.
They went down to the main hall to begin the engagement ceremony. Many guests were still entering and helping themselves to appetizers, while Pinky and Adi got settled on the main stage. Relatives and friends, who were doing last minute preparations for the engagement and shagan ceremony, surrounded them.
Geet looked everywhere for Maan but he was no where to be seen. She decided to get off the main stage and find him. She had to talk to him tonight no matter what happened. As she was leaving the stage, Pinky stopped her, "Geet please stay with me. My family is all busy with the guests and Adi's family."
Geet smiled and held on to Pinky's hand, "Don't worry I am here with you." She sat down on a chair next to Pinky. Adi was sitting on the other side of Pinky, but was being questioned deeply by Pinky's uncles and cousins.
Pinky ignored them and turned to Geet and slightly whispered, "So that jerk Dev came with you?" Even though it was an important day for Pinky, she could not help but worry for her friend.
Geet looked over at the bar and saw Dev trying to talk to people. She rolled her eyes and looked away from him but her eyes fell on the entrance. Standing there looking like a Greek God was her Maan.
He walked in calmly, not looking anywhere but straight ahead towards the stage.
"Shh Pinky lets not talk about him please. I will tell you about it later." Geet adjusted her dupatta and stood up as some guests came on the stage to congratulate Pinky and Adi, and right behind them was Maan.
He congratulated Adi and Pinky and then handed over the engagement ring to Adi. He was moving past them when his eyes fell on Geet. She gave him a small smile and he could tell she was sorry.
During the ring ceremony, Maan was lost in his thoughts, "I know she really loves me but it is wrong because her husband is a nice guy and really loves her. I just have to keep myself away from her. That is the only way everyone will be happy."
The ring ceremony was soon over and the dancing began. Adi and Pinky had their first dance together and then other couples joined them. Maan wanted to ask Geet, as she was standing alone, but he then saw Dev approach her.
"Come on Geet lets dance," he grunted at her, while grabbing her arm.
"I do not want to dance with you," she said back, pushing his hand off of her.
"Come or else I will call Papa ji," he smirked. "I will tell him you are after another guy now. And you know what he will think you are? He will think you are nothing but a little w**r*

"Shut up Dev," she said while looking around to make sure no one heard him. "Lets go."
They went on to the dance floor and Dev pulled her closer by placing his hands on her bare waist. She hated the touch of him, as it made her cringe. She looked away from Dev, as he reeked of alcohol. Geets eyes fell on Maan who was standing off the dance floor. He was staring straight at her and his eyes were watery. She really wanted to be with him, to comfort him and assure him that she loves just him.
"Dev that's enough. I have to go somewhere."
"Where?" he asked looking around. ??
"Somewhere here," she said trying to take his hands off her waist. ??
"Oh really, are you sure its not another guy?" he said, as he squeezed her waist.
Geet froze and her eyes shot wide open.
"It is another guy, isn't it?" He dug his nails into her waist and pulled her even closer.
"No," she said but went unheard as the song changed to a fast number. Dev took Geet and spun her around really fast. He kept spinning her around and around, until she got all dizzy and could not keep her balance. He then twirled her around and let her go off spinning and he made his way to dance with some single girls.
Maan turned around from the bar and saw Geet at the edge of the dance floor about to fall. He ran over to her and caught her in his arms. As she opened her eyes and saw him, she said, "Maan, I love you. I am really sorry." And with that she passed out in his arms.
Savitri came running over the Maan and Geet, "What happened beta?"
"I don't know Mom, I saw her about to fall so I came over."
By now Pinky and Adi has also made there way over to them. "Oh my God, what happened to Geet?" Pinky shrieked.
"Shh beta its okay. Lets take her upstairs." She looked towards Maan, "Maan pick her up properly and take her up."
"But Mom how can I?"
"Maan!" Savitri narrowed her eyes at her son, "Just do it now."
He picked her up in his arms and put her one arm around his neck. Then he went towards the stairs and went up. Following behind him were his mother, Adi, and Pinky.
"Here beta, put her in this room," Savitri said once they reached the top floor.
"But Mom that's my room," he said.
"Maan! How can you so inconsiderate?" she yelled at Maan. She then patted Geets head, "The poor thing is so unwell, take her in there right now and call the doctor." She then turned back around to Adi and Pinky, "Come on both of you go back down and I will inform you as soon as she wakes up."
They go back down to the party and the doctor comes. He goes inside and does her check up while Savitri and Maan wait outside.
Maan was being very impatient, walking up and down the hallway, and kept muttering curses under his breath at the doctor for taking so long.
Savitri noticed her sons odd behaviour, "Relax Maan, why are you so tense?"
Maan froze by his mothers sudden question, "No nothing. I'm just'umm'you know."
By then doctor came out, "You can come in now, she is awake."
Maan ignored his mother and was about to rush past the doctor and enter the room when he was stopped by his mother, "Maan go call Pinky."
Maan wanted to yell and scream at his mom but he had not choice. He ran down the stairs and found Pinky right away and dragged her up the stairs at the speed of lightening. He was dying to see Geet, even just a glimpse of her to make sure she was alright.
When they got to the bedroom, Pinky ran over to the bed and sat next to Geet. Geet sat there with a straight face, staring intensely at Maan.
"Doctor, is everything okay?" Pinky questioned.
"Yes, there is nothing to worry about. Is her husband here?"
Pinky rolled her eyes and grunted in a low voice, "Yes, but he is downstairs."
"Okay, well you might want to call him," the doctor said.
This caught Maan's attention and he turned to the doctor, "Why, is everything okay?"
"Oh yes Mr. Khurana everything is fine. And Congratulations to everyone. Geet is pregnant!"
