Who can carry off 'intense' roles well?

😃😃😃 This should be a great topic to put on your thinking caps! Which actors/actresses have that ability to carry off "intense" roles well? I think of "intense" roles as dramatic pieces or performance-oriented roles, not the regular run of the mill movies (Golmaal 3, Singh is King, etc.). "Intense" roles can be any genre (period, thriller, drama, etc.). Aamir Khan has done a lot of "intense" roles, as well as Shahrukh Khan (to some extent), Ifran Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Hritik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, etc. I think the actresses are better in "intense" roles, such as Aish (Provoked, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, etc.), Kareena (Chameli, Omkara, Dev, etc.), Rani (Black, Yuva, Veer Zaara, etc.), Priyanka (7 Khoon Maaf, Fashion, etc.).

So, which actresses/actors can pull off the "intense" roles well?

Shahrukh was inconsistent in Devdas, touching in some and hamming in others (sorry to say). But, he made a convincing Devdas for the most part! 😆

Ranbir has it in him. he could go big, but keeps doing lame films. Wake Up Sid and Rocket Singh were his two best films.

I do not deny that SRK did over-kill some parts, but i do believe he captured the essence of Dev very naturally. I will admit that when i first watched Devdas for the first time i was 10, but i remember being quite taken by his performance and how he managed to act jealous, pretentious , somewhat chauvanistic, ill-tempered, boyish and also romantic quite fantastic. Re-watching Devdas many times in the past few years, i find i'm still quite taken. I also think he was fantastic in Dil Se, Darr, and Swades. He isn't my favourite actor working today, but if you need to put him in an intense role and you need him to do it justice i do not doubt SRK's ability to pull it off.
