Wonderful update dear....loved all the Maaneet scenes...the party scene where Maan deliberately kept his identity from her,the lift chase,the dance,and the chase around the garden and the near kiss...all are memorable moments....but all through the update I was dreading the moment when Maan will come to know of Geet being already married,even that Dev is a jerk,but she's married and she kept the fact from him.....I hope they will not have major misunderstandings between them when the truth comes out finally...but for now looking forward to their working together while having feelings for each other now😊

Recap: Maan and Geet meet at the party in the hotel, where she learns that he is Maan Singh Khurana who she is here to do business with. They dance, get wet in the rain, and were close to kissing.

Chapter 7: Friends Forever

Geet went to sleep that night but was really confused. She had started developing feelings for Maan, which were getting stronger every time she met him. Every moment she spent with him was imprinted in her mind and that she is all she could think about. Geet remembered how he came close to her in the taxi, how they danced, and how they were about to kiss in the rain.

After a lot of thought, she concluded that she would ignore that "almost" kiss and act on a very professional note with Maan. He was after all like her boss and this business deal was very important for her company. She did not want it to get affected by her personal feelings that she had for him. Was she even allowed to feel this way for him? Brushing away those thoughts, she was determined to be a professional in every sense.

The next morning she got up and dressed and went down to the main conference hall. She saw Maan and he smiled at her. She gave a half smile and just turned around to avoid talking to him. "Come on Geet you have to be strong. He is like your boss now," she thought to herself.

On the other hand, Maan was confused with her actions, "what is wrong with her now? Did I go too far last night? I never meant too and I do not have any feelings like that towards her. Do I?"

Soon everyone was seated at their tables and listening to the guest speaker who was at the conference. Geet looked around and spotted Maan. He had his serious business face on and was listening intensely. Seeing this made her smile. He was truly a professional, looking quite arrogant, but he still looked cute, or rather handsome.

At that exact moment Maan glanced over at her and caught her staring at him and smiling. As he stared at her, her smile vanished and she quickly turned around and stared straight ahead. She did not look back at him for the rest of the session. But she could not help herself and had little peaks when he was not looking.

Once the guest speaker was done, all the delegates and guests present were meeting and greeting each other.

Geet chose to stick with Mrs. Sharma, an older employee in their office. She thought that Mrs. Sharma would not go and try to talk to the Khurana's like the rest of the females and even males in her office. However, she saw that Maan was approaching her, which caused her heartbeat to increase and her palms started to get sweaty. She did not know where to look, anywhere but not at him. Maan continued to walk straight up to her and greet her, "Hi Geet."

She slowly turned around to say hello to him and then introduced him to Mrs. Sharma. Geet remained very professional and addressed him only as Mr. Khurana,the CEO of Khurana Industries.

After the formal introductions and small talk with Mrs. Sharma, Maan turned back towards Geet and asked, "So what are your plans for today?"

Geet was stuck. She had no plans for today but she could not let him know that. "I am really busy today."

This caught Mrs. Sharma's attention. She really loved Geet as a daughter, since she was only a few years older than her own daughters. She also knew about her and Dev's relationship but never interfered too much in their relationship. She wanted Geet to move on and be free from Dev and this seemed like a good chance for her to do so. "Oh really Geet, what are you doing today? You said no to going out shopping and site seeing with us from the office. And now your friend is asking you as well."

"No Mrs. Sharma he is not my friend. Just a business partner, actually more like my boss," she immediately replied. She looked up at Maan and for the first time she saw an expression that she has never seen on his face before. He looked hurt, disappointed and upset.

Maan thought that they were friends by now. They had so many encounters but they always ended well and especially after last night. But why was she being like this now? He needed to get away from her, as she clearly did not want him there. He kindly looked towards Mrs. Sharma and excused himself from them, not once looking back at Geet.

She watched his figure slowly leave the hall without looking back at her once. Geet felt bad but what else could she have really done. Soon Mrs. Sharma left to go out with the gang but after asking Geet once again if she wanted to come. She politely refused saying she has some other things to take care of today. Geet miserably went back up to her room, feeling ever so lonely again.

Pinky had gone out with Adi again. Those two were getting serious and were deeply falling in love. Two more days went by like this. The conference during the day and everyone would go out in the evening and at night. Everyday Geet made some excuse to stay back at the hotel, as she was not in the mood to go out.

Also at the conference she saw Maan. He never talked to her again unless everyone was standing in a group discussing the deal. But even when they were together, he would never directly say or ask her anything. He was basically avoiding talking or making any eye contact with her. She felt bad that she was mean to him but she had to stay in her limit. She did not want to give him any wrong impressions, especially after that monsoon night in the hotel garden.

On the third evening of the conference, Geet stood on her balcony taking in the beautiful weather. The sun was setting and there was a light breeze. She looked down at the small park, next to the garden, that was empty. She decided she might as well go down there, as she needed to get out of the hotel and get some fresh air.

She put on a nice summer dress and grabbed a novel to read and went out. Geet scanned the park area for a perfect spot to sit. She just wanted to be alone so she could read her romantic novels. Those were the only things helping her sleep at night. She had already finished reading 2 while she was in Mumbai.

She saw the perfect spot to sit. There was a huge fountain and around it a bunch of white benches. There were a few people sitting there but she just ignored them and went and sat on one. There was a guy sitting there with a hat on but he seemed busy reading some file.

After a while the wind started blowing and Geet felt cold. She put her book in her lap and just hugged herself for a while. The guy next to her had gotten up and left a while back but he returned now.

He sat back down next to her and stuck his hand out infront of her. In his hand was a coffee cup. She glanced up at the guy and it was Maan. She had not been so close to him in so many days. His eyes were sparkling in the light from the sun setting. He had a smile on his face but she could tell he was still hurt from before.

"Here take it. You look cold," he said while bringing the cup closer to her.

She took the cup and thanked him for it, as Maan turned back around and just started reading the file again

But Geet was curious and wanted to know something, "so why did you not go out with everyone?"

Without looking up, he replied, "didn't feel like it."

"Why?" she questioned him again.

"Why what?"

"Why did you not feel like going with everyone?"

Putting his file down and turning towards her, he said, "I do not find it important to discuss that with a colleague." His face was hard and his voice was rude and stern.

Unknowingly, Geet's eyes got all watery and she turned away from him. She did not want him to know that he affected her and that she was hurt by what he said.

As she turned around, Maan realized that he spoke quite rudely with her and he should not have done that. "I am sorry. I should not have said that."

Still with her back to him, she replied, "No it is not your fault. It is my fault."

He felt guilty and decided to open up and talk to her. "I did not go out because." He hesitated for a bit but then continued, "well because everyone was kind of with someone, I mean in couples. So I did not want to be alone and decided to just stay in." He took this chance to question her back, "Why haven't you been going out?"

Geet looked up at him and did not know what to exactly say. "Well I .. I'm not...I... I didn't want to be the only one alone. Everyone is here with someone or has found someone as well."

She looked back up at him and he was gazing at her. She wanted to get up and be held in his warm embrace, but she did not. Instead she changed the subject, "So Pinky and Adi are getting really serious?"

"Yeah, I know they are. He is a good guy and will always treat a woman with respect and love. He deserves the best."

Geet smiled, "Pinky is such a hard worker. I would honestly be lost without her. She is really sweet and a loving person too."

They talked a bit more on general topics, until Maan's phone was vibrating because he got a text. After reading it, he looked back up at her and asked if she would want to go to lounge/ club, as his friends kept on calling him there. "Come on we are only here for a few more days. But it is totally up to you if you want to come with me. Please."

Geet hesitated but felt bad for being rude to him before, "Hey I am your friend and you do not have to say please to me." She smiles and is actually looking forward to not spending another night alone in the hotel.

"Okay get ready and meet me back down in the lobby in an hour. Will that be enough time?"

They get up and start walking towards the hotel. They finally feel comfortable with each other again. Maan is back at joking around with her and she just laughing at his jokes and making fun of him.

Within the next two hours, they arrive at the club. They find Maan's friends and he introduces Geet to all of them. Geet was actually enjoying herself after so long. The guys were really nice and talked about sports, business, and movies with her, whereas the girls seemed like her long-lost friends and got along great with her.

Then one of Maan's friend, Armaan, asked Geet to dance. Geet was hesitant to reply, as she did not want to hurt his feelings, but as she looked at Maan she noticed that he did not want her to dance with Armaan. But since Armaan was his friend and Geet was also just his friend, Maan could not interfere and say anything

"Sorry Armaan, but my dance partner is already here." She smiles and looks towards Maan, who had a 1000 watt smile on his face. She walked up to him and took his hand, as her and the other couples from the gang went onto the dance floor. She felt totally comfortable dancing with him, whether it was a slow song or a fast up-beat dance number, Maan knew how to dance and handle her well. She did not want the night to end, as she had never had this much fun in forever.

Around 2 am they bid goodbye to his friends and left the club. He reminded her that tomorrow everyone was going to see the new site of the project, as well as have a picnic there.

Once they arrived at the hotel, he dropped her to her room. They both said good night to each other and as she was about to enter her room, Maan grabbed her hand and pulled her back out.

"Promise me something." He said in his deep husky voice that caused her heart racing at the speed of lightning. She had no idea what he will say and was a bit apprehensive to hear. She blinked her eyes a few times and then nodded her head for him to continue speaking.

"Promise me that you will be my friend forever and never ignore me like you did for the past few days."

An instant smile appeared on Geets face, as she saw pure innocence sparkling in his eyes.

"I promise," she said as she smiled and gave him a light hug. Letting go she said she would see him tomorrow and turned back to enter her room.

Once the door was shut, Geet leaned against the door. "I wish I hugged him for longer and could have just been in his arms forever." That night she went to sleep happily. Just replaying the whole night in her mind. They were now officially friends. Friends forever.

He tightened his grip around her waist and brought his lips to her cheek and gave her a gentle kiss.

She felt like a lightning bolt just hit her and wanted his lips on hers now.
