We caught up with one such star parivaar sadasya, Gulaal, who was overwhelmed with responses from fans she got during the awards 2011 in Macao. She didn't think that non-Indians would recognize her as Gulaal, but she was pleasantly surprised.
Sharing her experiences, Gulaal aka Mansi Parekh says, "Being part of STAR Parivaar Awards for the first time was quite a delightful experience. The channel had made brilliant arrangements everywhere. It felt like a film award ceremony as the grandeur, the locale was spectacular. Apart from the cool management, as a team we got a thundering response from our fans. I must say STAR's reach all over the globe has helped in bringing new audiences every day. Soon it just might give competition to films as well."
Talking about the fans she adds, "I was completely stunned when I landed at the Hong Kong airport and a foreigner came to me and asked, 'Are you Gulaal? I was shocked and asked her if she watched our show and if she could speak Hindi? But she said that she doesn't know Hindi but loves Gulaal and her style. I was completely taken aback. I don't know how she recognized me as I was wearing a simple outfit without any make-up."
Other than her interactions with fans, she also anchored the show with Karan Mehra, "I really enjoyed anchoring. It was a lovely experience. Karan is a very talented actor and as a co-anchor he was great fun. I remember there was a segment which was very funny as we were giving fake awards to the bravest husbands who handled the tantrums of their wives while shopping. It was a hilarious segment."
She also loved watching the dance performances, especially the first act of the show which was by Mukti Mohan, Aksshat, Shaleen Bhanot and Sanjeeda Sheikh. "Among all the dance performances, I loved the opening dance. Mukti, Shaleen and Sanjeeda were just brilliant. I also loved the anchoring segment by Ayushaman Khurana and Ragini Khanna."
Don't forget to watch Gulaal's debut at the STAR Parivaar Awards coming soon only on STAR Plus.
