Here is my take on what could have happened at the fountain. This is after Arjun makes his slithgly tipsy entry and starts talking to Dhondo and Aorhi. Aorhi and Dhondo are ready to drop there coins into the fountain, but in my one shot Arjun doesn't do it.
Enjoy!
~*~
Arjun watched as Arohi and Dhondo threw there coins into the fountain, this was ridiculous, childish and stupid. That was why he wasn't going to do it.
"Bad ho gaya tum dono ki khalna?"
Arohi gave him a dirty look. "What would you know about magic and wishes. You ogre!"
"Arohi don't pay attention to him." Dhondo walked over to Arohi and put his hand on her shoulder. Arohi's face brighten up.
"You right Dhondo, now lets walk back and you can tell me what you wished for." Arjun gave Dhondo a dirty look, and Dhondo took his hand off Aorhi. The three started walking back to there cars.
Suddenly the wind picked up and thunder could be heard.
"Oh no Aorhi its going to rain."
"Not shit Sherlock, what gave it away the thunder or the lightning?" Arjun couldn't believe this guy, why was Aorhi into stupid men?
"Shut up Arjun," She smiled and said sweetly to Dhondo, "Lets run to the car before it starts to rain."
It started to rain, hard.
Arjun started laughing. He couldn't think of a better way to ruin Arohi and Kabotar# 2's outing, this was perfect.
Rab tu kitna great hai!
"Ahhh! No!" Arohi cursed and stomped her feet. "Dhondo lets run." Dhondo nodded. Arjun was about to stop Aorhi, was she stupied, she was wearing high heels in the woods(one strike) at night (two strikes) and now it was raining very hard (third strike).
I bet on the fourth step she takes she's going to trip and fall. Arjun stayed close behind Arohi and sure enough on the fourth step she took on her run, she fell. And your out!
"Owww, owww my feet! Shit Dohondo stop running!" Arjun squated next to Aorhi and watched as Dhondo back tracked, the idiot didn't even realize that Arohi was no longer running next to him.
"So princess, what now?"
"Aroughg get away from me Arjun! Your bad luck!"
"Oh no Aorhi my jan, what happened?"
Arjun rolled his eyes and scanned Arohi's right ankle, and evaded her attempts to brush his hands away.
"Pagal lardki let me look at it. The longer we stay in the rain the worse it is for all of us."
By now all three of them were drenched. The wind started blowing and Aorhi shivered, the guys had jackets on, but her tank styled dress wasn't much protection against the elements.
"Yeah Aorhi, let your husband check it out. He looks like he knows what he's doing."
"Of course I do, this isn't the first time princess here has gotten hurt."
Dhondo was worried. The car was a kilometre away and it was up a hill. The rain was going to make there trek up very dangerous and it looked like Arohi wouldn't be able to walk.
Arjun put some pressure on Arohi's ankle and she hissed in pain, he stretched her feet and massaged the area. He then took out his handkerchief and tied it tight around her ankle. He then took her shoes off.
"Hey what are you doing, I can't walk with no shoes."
"Who said your going to be walking. Meat ki dukan take her highnesses shoes."
He threw them at Dhondo and was mildly surprised that he managed to catch them. "Princess you have a minor sprain , you could have walked were you wearing running shoes and walking on a flat paved surface. But as it stands we are in the middle of the woods, were it is muddy and slippery. Next time you fall you won't be so lucky."
Arjun then picked her up and started walking with Dhondo falling into step next to him.
"Hey put me down! I didn't say you could carry me! Dhondo can carry me!"
"The hell he will." Muttered Arjun.
Aorhi started beating at his chest with her fists.
"Ahh! You janwar put me down, I don't want to be near you!"
"Why Aorhi, you share a bed with me, and we have been closer then this."
"Chee tum kitne besharm ho, there is someone else here with us and tum kitne gande gande bat kare hai ko."
Dhodno looked at the couple oddly, they must bee having some BIG fight, clearly Arjun cared about his wife but why was Aorhi so upset with him?
"Arohi stop moving, its slippery as it is and its dark, I might drop you for real."
"I don't care let me go!" She started moving around more. Arjun had had it.
"Aorhi ENOUGH! For one second stop being so childish, if we all stay in the rain any longer then 30mins in this cold we could get pneumonia, we need to get to the car or shelter. I can't think with you hitting and screaming at me."
"Arohi, as much as I hate it, I agree with Arjun, it getting colder, the rain is falling harder , we need to find shelter soon." Arohi closed her mouth and looked away from both men.
Dhondo was such a traitor.
"Arjun I don't think we can climb back up, the mud is gonna make it really slippery and with you carrying Arohi, its going to be near impossible, if you slip, your both going to get hurt."
"Yeah I figured it would come to that. Come this way, there is a small run down cottage up ahead. Its about a 10 min walk."
They made there way towards the cottage and Arohi sneezed. Arjun could feel her shivering, he held her closer to him.
"Were almost there Aorhi." He murmured to her quietly, Aorhi only nodded her head , then rested against his chest, her arms circled around Arjun's neck.
Dhondo watched there interaction. Arjun was clearly worried about Aorhi and thus started walking faster. The guy wasn't so bad, he cared about his wife. So he was at least decent. Why did Aorhi dislike him so much?
The cottage came into sight and Dhondo ran ahead of the couple and opened the door, luckily it was unlocked.
"Thank god its not locked." Dhondo held the door open for Arjun and Arohi.
"Tell me about it." Ajrun carried Aorhi inside, grateful to be out of the rain.
"I'll go light a fire." Arjun nodded his head and put Aorhi down on one of the beds. "Dhondo, there are matches and a first aid box in that cupboard, and there is dry wood over there, make a fire hear near Aorhi, we need to get her warmed up. I'll grab some blankets." He took his wet jacket off and threw it onto the hay.
Aorhi watched the men move around the cabin silently lighting it up. She watched as Dhondo lighted candles and lanterns around the glorified shed. While Arjun set up wood to light a fire.
After a few minutes there was a warm crackling fire.
It all could have been terribly romantic if only it was Ajrun and her and no fight...wait what was she thinking?
Arohi what is wrong with you? It must be the cold, warm up girl, you can't think like this! He does one nice thing for you and you melt? If Arjun wasn't there Dhondo would have done the same. But he didn't know the location of this cottage. You would have had to taken the risk of climbing back to where the car is... with a minor sprained ankle...not fun. Damn it why does Arjun always save me!
Aorhi pushed all her thoughts away and stuck her hands out close to the fire. That's when she noticed it missing.
"Oh no!"
"Now what?" Arjun turned from lighting a lantern to look at Aorhi.
"Its gone! I lost it! I lost one of Dadi's kanguns! I must have dropped it outside! I had it when I fell to the ground. Oh no! Arjun I have to find it!"
She made to get up. Only to have Arjun push her back gently to the cot.
"Your insane, its still raining out and you can't walk."
Surprisingly Dhondo backed Arjun. "Yeah Aorhi, we will find it tomorrow, plus its too dark out."
"You guys don't understand how important this is! I need to find it! What if tomorrow is too late! I have to find it now."
"Pagal behuda larki. Stay where you are." Arjun pushed her back onto the cot, when she made her second attempt at leaving.
Arohi started to cry.
Ajrun threw his hands in the air.
"Fine, I'll go look for it! Dohondo make sure your insane friend here stays put." Arjun took a lantern and was out the door before either of them could say anything.
"You know Arohi, I think your husband cares about you more then you give him credit for." Aorhi had nothing to say to Dhondo.
~*~
Arjun backtracked to where Aorhi had tripped and looked around the area. Even with the lantern it was difficult.
"Pagal larki, just when I was getting dry. I come out looking here for a piece of jewelry. What's so damn special about it? Could have easily gotten a replacement, Dadi wouldn't have found out. No, she freaks out and starts crying and here I am searching in the damn rain and mud for a bangle."
Arjun cursed when he sneezed. He should have at least brought his jacket with him. The thin black shirt wasn't helping. He sneezed again. Arjun started tracing his steps towards the cabin , she must have dropped it when he was carrying her.
"I told her to stop hitting me." Arjun sneezed again, harder then last time. "Damn it where are you, you stupid piece of jewellery?"
He waved the lantern around, and just when Arjun was about to give up, he saw something sparkle in the dim light half hidden under a dead leaf.
"Finally!"
~*~
Dhondo looked at his watch. "Hey Aorhi its been 10 minutes since Arjun left."
"You don't think he's hurt do you?" She looked worried, more for Arjun then her kangun.
"He's a big guy I'm sure he's fine."
"I don't know Dhondo, what if some thing happened?"
"Relax Aorhi. What can happen to him? He will be back soon, with your kangun. That guy is more relentless and determined then you."
Dhondo noticed that through Aorhi's fake smile, she was still worried.
~*~
20 minutes passed and Arjun still wasn't back.
Aorhi looked more frantic.
"Dhondo, he's not back yet I have a bad feeling about this. He's been out there for 30 minutes, please go look for him. He didn't even take his jacket he can catch pneumonia!"
"Aorhi I'm sure he's fine. He probably won't return until he finds that kangan."
"No Dhondo I'm serious." She stood up and limped toward him. "Go look for him if you don't I'll go my self!" Dhondo grabbed Aorhi's arm.
"Oh no you don't, if you go out there and hurt your self. You husband will kill me. So pretty lady you sit here and I will go find your Arjun. Be right back!" Dhondo ran out of the room and Aorhi started pacing. Something had happened she could just feel it.
~*~
Aorhi, looked at her phone. It had been 10 minutes since Dhondo had left. Why weren't they back yet? Were they BOTH injured, or worse dead? Oh no Arjun!
Aorhi made her way towards the door and opened it.
The rain was coming to an end.
She walked onto the porch and almost screamed. There was Dhondo slowly making his way towards the cottage.
He was carrying Arjun on his back, fire man carry style, his arms and legs hanging lifelessly.
"ARJUN!" What had happened to him? As Dhondo drew closer she saw that Arjun's head was bleeding.
She opened the door to the cottage for Dhondo. "What happened to him!? Is he alive? How did you find him?"
"Slow down with the questions Arohi." Dhondo deposited Ajrun on the bed.
He wasn't moving. Dhondo pulled a blanket on top of Arjun.
" I found him not to far from the cottage, he was lying face down on the ground, when I turned him over his head was bleeding all over this sharp rock, he must have slipped and fallen on it. We need to stop the blood flow and warm him up. You stay here see if you can wake him up."
"No no, Dhondo you go get a doctor right now! I'll do the rest."
"Are you sure Aorhi? You can barely walk."
"I'll be fine just go, the rain has almost stopped just be careful."
"Arohi he lost a lot of blood, his face is turning blue, he might have hypothermia, let me just bandage his head and then-"
"GO NOW! Ajrun needs a doctor!" Arho screamed, she could do all that, but Arjun need expert medical help.
Dhondo saw the crazed look in her eyes, yeah there it was, Aorhi cared for this guy more then she let on.
"Sure sure, just bandage his head and keep him warm as you can its very important." With that said he grabbed a lantern and was out the door.
Before Dhondo left Aorhi was already up looking for bandages. The pain in her feet was forgotten.
Arjun had already showed them where the first aid box was. Her hand was shaking and she was talking like a mad women.
"Arjun wake up! Don't you dare die on me! What kind of a man are you can't take a little cold and hit on the head? Wake up you weakling!" When he didn't respond, Aorhi shook his shoulders. She was done cleaning and bandaging Arjun's head in multiple layers.
She rubbed both her hands on his face trying to warm him up.
"Arjun please! Please I beg of you get up, open your eyes, curse at me, yell at me just anything. I'm so so sorry for sending you out there, please Arjun come back. " tears started falling from her eyes when he still didn't respond.
He was so cold, his face was so cold and he was barely breathing.
Arohi's panic heightened.
She checked for a heart beat with her hand.
"Next time you check for heart beat, check the left side." His words rang like a bell in her head.
Aorhi pressed her ear to his left pectoral. There she felt it, his heart.
"Oh my god your not dead!" She leaned down and hugged him hard.
She heard a soft mumble.
"ARJUN! Arjun your awake , come on open your eyes! Ajrun look at me, its Arohi, please open your eyes and say something. For god sake say something! Anything!" She tapped his face with her hands, moved his hair, her fingers brushed over his pale blue tinged lips, Arohi was beyond panicking she was out right freaking out. Did she imagine him saying something?
"C-c-c-co-ld." Arjun started shivering almost spasmodically.
"Arjun! Your alive! She leaned down and hugged him crying. He was alive! Arohi moved away from Arjun and added as much dry wood as she could find to the fire, making the cottage hotter.
She then came back to his side and took off his cold wet shoes and socks. The first set of blankets were soaked. She pulled them off, and then paused to looked at the soaked Arjun.
Why wasn't Dhondo back yet!?
There was no time to think or worry about that, she had to act and act fast. Hypothermia was not good! Arohi ripped Arjun's shirt off of him, thank god it was thin, she didn't bother with buttons just ripped it off him. His bare chest, made her blush but she pushed that away, his life was at stake.
Arohi pulled blankets off the other bed and brought them over to Arjun. After covering him, she held his hands, rubbing them between her much smaller digits.
"Arjun, tell me what to do. Your going to be fine. The doctor will be here soon, Dhondo went to get him. Arjun! Open you eyes!"
When she noticed him opening his eyes slightly she saw how dilated they were. A concussion! He had a concussion!
"Arjun stay awake! Don't fall asleep, listen to my voice I'll talk you to your grave if you close your eyes, damn it don't close your eyes! Arjun tell me what to do! Look at me!"
"C-c-c-cold."
"Your cold? I know your cold, I gave you all the blankets that we have in this place, and I added more logs to the fire. What do you want me to do?"
He tightened his hold on her hand and she felt him tug at her hands. It felt like a five month old baby tugging at her fingers, he was so weak.
Aorhi wasn't completely stupid, she gulped, and slowly climbed on to the bed and lay half on top of Arjun with the blankets between them. She didn't want to make it hard for him to breath.
"You better not get any ideas! I'm doing this to keep you alive." She pulled her head up and looked down at him. "DON'T you dare close your eyes! Just listen to me. Why didn't you come back after five minutes? You stayed in the damn rain." She held his face in her hands. "Now look at you, your blue and can barely say anything besides cold. Are you stupid? Who stays outside in weather like this?"
She ran her thumb over his lips, there were slowly turning pink. A good sign.
"Look at you, your like a hindi movie damsel in distress, and Dhondo had to save you! Keep your eyes open mister! What happened to Mr. Tall dark, quiet and bad? Did he go on a vacation? I mean really Arjun talk about a lapse in judgement."
And she continued chatting non stopping, every time Arjun tried to close his eyes she would shake him out of it or yell.
After 40 minutes Dhondo arrived with the doctor. Aorhi finally shut up, and let the doctor give Arjun an injection for the pain and fever he would feel very soon. The doctor also treated her ankle and gave her painkillers.
Arohi stayed close to Arjun's bed side hovering over him and holding his hand, while the doctor did his second check up. She insisted the doctor check Arjun again and then Dhondo went to drop the doctor home.
Arohi looked at Arjun she stroked his hair, as he was dozing off. "You can sleep now Arjun I'll stop talking. Sweet dreams."
Oh and did Arjun have sweet dreams. 😉
