Part 8
The trio returned to the Handa house;
Geet was exhausted both physically as well as mentally;
while she was entering her room she fainted, Rajji stopped her from having a nasty fall;
she helped her get to the bed and rushed to call Tayji;
Tayji came and saw Geet she had some doubt she send Rajji out and closed the door and asked Geet
T: Geet have you skipped your period?
G: yes I should have had it 4 days back
T: hai Babaji, Geet tell me truthfully
G: what Tayji? (She was afraid)
T: did Dev spend the night with you? I mean did he sleep with you?
G (horrified): yes
T: you wait here and do not tell any one that you skipped your period; I'll be just back in a minute or 2
G nodded silently
After few minutes Tayji came with Brij's wife and asked Geet to come with her
She took the two confused females with her and strictly instructed them to keep quite and not to utter a word.
On there way they met some woman who asked
W: hello ji, going somewhere?
T: yes, to the midwife
W: any good news
T: no, ji my Bahu has skipped her time and just want to confirm
if, you know, but I am sure it is just a false signal and laughs
W: may be its not and she too laughs
They finally reach the midwife's house and get in there they find Chinar also the lady who brought Dev's proposal
T gives her a disgusting look and talks to the Midwife about Geet,
who checks Geet and confirms that she is pregnant,
T collapses in horror Geet starts crying and Brij's wife goes numb
T (to Chinar): look what you have done, just for few bundle of notes you ruined her life, now what will she do? Who will marry her? Forget marriage if any one knows about it, Darjee will surely get her killed
MW: cool down, her pregnancy is quite early we can always go for abortion, an d no one will know
T: but, if we abort a child can she again become pregnant
MW: I will go to the main city tomorrow and get those allopathic pills, they are safe, you come day after tomorrow I will give her the pills, and she'll be alright.
Geet was speechless, she did not know what to say or do.
Tayji again cursed Chinar and left that house along with Geet and her Bahu.

He drops her at a safe distance and watches her go in the house then returns to his adobe
DM was still up she has heard the conversation between Geet and Maan,
she was thinking of a solution and by the time Maan came back she had it all set and firmly told Maan to follow her command.
Maan agreed to her.
M (thinking): this girl though is quite young but her ideas are mature, and Sameera just opted for the easy way out, she killed the life that was growing in her when I was all the time supporting her, and here Geet she is all alone no one is supporting her still she wants the child unwanted by all, whereas Sameera just killed the child we all so much wanted to have
In the morning
Maan reached the Handa house and every one welcomed him
Geet looked cheerful as Maan had told her to pretend to be happy so that her family could give them sometime alone to spend.
Darjee: sit, Maan ji, so what have you thought about our Geet
M: Darjee. My grand Maa has just come from Delhi, I don't know how she got the news, it will be nice if she can meet with Geet, she'll decide from my side it's ok the final word will be given by her
D: ok ji we don't mind, why don't we have you two for lunch today, there the ladies can talk and she can also meet Geet
M: ok ji, so I'll come at 1 now I should take your leave
In the afternoon
Maan arrived to the Handa's with DM they had lunch and DM talked a little with Geet,
she was shocked to see the girl she was so young, she looked so pale, though she was smiling but sadness can easily be read from her big beautiful expressive eyes.
DM: yes, Choudhary Handa ji, why don't we all go to Amritsar tomorrow and finalize the proposal at the Golden Temple
D: ok ji as you wish
DM: ok then tomorrow early morning we will leave, Maan shall we leave
M: Dadi, actually (acting to feel shy) I wanted to meet her once
DM: NO!
M: DM please just few minutes
DM: Choudhary ji do you have any objection
D: (though reluctant): no ji why will I object, Brij take Maan ji to her room
Once inside the room
M: Geet you be ready, once we reach there, we will sneak out
G: thank you Maan
M: don't thank me; I am doing this for my own sake
G: pardon
M: Geet, once your problem is solved I will tell you one truth
G: truth???
M: yes, till then Geet promise me, whatever anyone says, you will not conclude anything about me without talking to me
G: I did not get you?
M: Geet, you told me everything, but I have not told you anything, trust me, I will tell you when the time comes, till then you have to make this promise to me
G: ok Maan I promise and I do trust you and thank you for everything
Maan left the room a little relieved
so now Maan and DM has planned to take Geet to meet NT
what are they upto?
why are they helping her to meet NT?
will Maan be able to tell Geet the truth?
