Tarak Mehta series started with Social messages with tones of laughter. Now it has degenerated into Social messages with tones of boredom.
They think we are some illiterate folks from Jhumary Talaiyaa without any civic manners or emotions. So instead of making us laugh, they only give lectures.
Social problems provide best raw-material to generate clean comedy (unlike the vulgar stuff on Comedy Circus on Sony TV). But Tarak Mehta & Co. is now showing only social problems part, without generating any comedy out of it. (Jetha insulted by Daya- Champak for his obesity during a 26th Jan. track, doesn't mean that they utilized the patriotism premise to generate comedy.)
Nowadays they don't create comedy out of situation; they only try to fill the situation with ready-made filler templates like Jetha insulted by Daya-Champak-Baghaa or Phone call from Daya's mom.
Lets take a look at some of the social-message story tracks in descending order of their boredom.

Bald Tappu & his friend suffering from cancer

Message: don't tease bald kids at school. Cancer awareness
Problems:
More than a week is wasted on a single premise: Tarak, Jetha family trying to convince Tappu not to get bald without even disclosing the reason.
Hardly any laughter flares in this track, except every 15th minute Daya says something to irritate Jetha in high-pitch voice, and we are supposed to laugh at Jetha's agony. This is getting overdone.
Adding insult to the injury, Baghaa comes to help Jetha. Like Jetha, we too feel irritated because of his presence.
Now in every episode, Daya's mom calls and Daya starts laughing like a maniac, and talking in a high-pitched voice.
In short they're painfully trying to drag the script.
And most important question : Why they left the whole track of Tarak, Jetha doing party because Champak is gone on Shirdi Yaatra??
I don't see no point in glorying an over-pampered kid (Tappu) who goes unpunished for his every mischief and thus sending bad example for all kids who watch this series. Why make him hero one more time? They should have used Pinkoo to get bald and emerge as hero in this track, but no one cares about Pinkoo who doesn't even have mom and dad! :D

26th January, Angry colonel

Message: India has lot potential, don't become cynical Just because of 2G scam.
Problems:
No built-in laughter flares so they inserted the conventional templates: Champak insulting Jetha, phone calls from daya's mom and even the cheap comic situations like Tarak & Co. taking cover,
Even a 5th grade school kid won't laugh from that knowing the gun-fire sound was coming from the door-bell.
If they do a survey of age-income-literacy profile of Tarak Mehta fan, they'll know most of us belong to urban educated middle class. And the kind of cheap door-bell comedy they're trying to generate (like in Papad Pol, Ring-wrong-ring etc.) will definitely fail to make most of us laugh.

Credit-card scam

Message: don't overspend, know your credit card limit
Problem: but story-premise was stretched to unbelievable level: Even Komal & Madhavi not knowing anything about credit card!

Stolen sports car

Message: don't buy vehicle from unknown persons without papers
Problem: Not much, except that Police station scene was over-stretched because every society member would come one by one and Babita would explain them same thing over and over again.

Saree Sale:

Message: don't buy stuff without bills.
Problem: they dragged 2 weeks just doing Protest- Garba-dance outside Satyawaan's shop.

31st Liquor Party

Message: 31 December is not for drinking. Celebrate it with your family.
Problem: none

Tappu's Child-marriage

Message: Child-marriage is bad + Parody of glorified child-brides like Balika Vadhu
Problem: None. Every minute was filled with a genuine laughter flare. They indeed generated comedy out of the situation.

Kidneys of Sheikh's brother

Message: don't buy or sale organs, donate them.
Problem: None. Infact one of the best episodes in this series.

Conclusions:

Anjali's boring diet-drama is now replaced with boring phone-calls from Daya's mom.
Retards like Baghaa make even Popatlal appear to be a decent man!
Daya only exists to irritate Jetha & create comedy out of it. (That's what script writer thinks) Compare her today's character with her old character in Kitty-party & fight with Madhvi, Daya goes silent etc stories. They've demoted Daya's character from a good housewife to a retard who laughs hysterically & speaks in high-pitch voice. Every fan, even with a pinch of respect for Daya, resents this treatment to her character.
They've forgotten that Champak can create comedy by himself (Blanket donation to poors, Mobile phone, Child-marriage etc episodes). So now they use Champak only for insulting Jetha, and not for any comedy outside that boundary.
In short, either the script-writer has been changed or he is not getting paid well.
Tarak Mehta production team itself needs to study the old episodes on social awareness.
With initial episodes in first year of Tarak Mehta, they set extreme high-standards of clean comedy, now they fail to meet their own standards.
update: yes its indeed script-writer problem
The success of producer Asit Modi's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah seems to have given him a swollen head as sources tell us that Asit regularly gets into a fit of rage, yells at his efficient writing duo Raju Odedra and Rajen Upad, only because he wants them to write the script the way he wants it to be.

"Needless to say, Raju and Rajen have their own style of writing and do not find the producer's style alluring enough to attract the attention of audiences," says our source...
Right on the dot. The only survival is bring fresh ideas rather overdoes of social message and celebration. Sunder is another creature who make jethalal life hell but in comic way...sometime asit modi over rates his charchater tooo...😆

Last year valentine days they celebrated re-marrying them , this year they might bring love intereste for poptal lal after tapu 's bald series gets over.

You know what? Sorry to say, but people like you and whoever agrees with this, sadly, are not looking at the meaning behind all of the fun and games of this show. I dont intend to get into an argument with you, but you have to understand this. Yes this show is intended for comical purposes, but do you not see the powerful messages of social behavior hidden behind each track? Agreed, sometimes the tracks are dragged, and there are distractions, but what are we getting out of this? This show is so unique and so realistic, that it is using comedy to improve societal conditions and is preaching messages on how to be a better person. If you, as human beings part of a respectable community, are not able to understand the value of these tracks/meaning of the show, then you must look and reflect again. I think the writer of this analytical piece (Whether it it you or another writer) needs to reflect more on the overall big picture and themes coming out of this show, before complaining and drawing unreasonable and one-sided perceptions.

Please do not take this as any offense as I come in peace and want to share my neutral views.

Thank you.

Dear MJHT4life

We all love TMKOC and so we are concerned with the sharp decline of its quality in terms of the content (social message) and also the comedy (physical, situational and established processes).

TMKOC may have been creating social awareness and spreading messages in society, but its primary goal is to make us laugh.

But for last couple of months it has failed on both counts—neither its content is impressive enough to generate awareness, nor its comedy is powerful enough to make us laugh.

TMKOC used to make us laugh by creating a fine balance between physical, situational and established processes of comedy. And so it was able to create social awareness and we used to love it. For example, the child marriage episodes, the bhootwala episodes, etc used to make us laugh through its content.

These days everything has gone for a toss and the worst part is that TMKOC has become very predictable; at least in its comedy part. These days laughter is generated through some of the standard established features of TMKOC—Champak chahcha scolding Jetha, Jetha running after Aiyer, Aiyer coming in between, Anjali and Tarak's diet drama, Daya's histrionics, Bhire and Jetha's useless debate and verbal WWF, Popatlal's drama, etc.

You will also agree that it has been long since we had a genuine laughter in TMKOC, a laughter not because of the uniqueness of its characters but because of the situation supported by the content.

And so the danger lies in the fact that TMKOC may soon turn into an average comedy serial from being one of the most inspiring laugh riot.

That's the problem, they're no longer using comedy to preach message like they used to do.

Bald Tappu and Angry colonel have wasted almost 5 weeks in lecturing us. Only sporadic laughter in between the long yawning drama-scenes.

No matter what noble intentions they've for educating and enlightening the audience, they shouldn't forget the fact that people switch to SAB TV on 8.30 PM for fun and laughter.

I completely agree with you. Whatever track they show there is a meaning behind it and its purpose is to make us a better person. There are no shows like TMKOC which makes us laugh but with it, it gives us many messages. I think this is the best show on TV! its about all the social issues going on in the world. If you don't like this show anymore then its better not to watch because there are many who loves this show! And very well said MJHT4life. I don't mean to hurt anyone but just expressing my opinions. I loveeee this show so much.!!

Mrunal, I dont want to get into an argument with you, but I think I have appropriately shared my views and that is all there is to it.
@Radhakrishna123 - thanks for agreeing with me!
I also agree with you when you say that those who have to complain about the show/dont like it, should not watch it. And I feel that a point of being part of a certain show's forum is to share positive vibes and views, as if you like the show, then you should join that forum. You should not spread negative views and complaints, as criticism is good, but if you are representing it constantly in a negative way, then chances are you dislike the show and it is not meant for you. Go to the show which you like! Thank you.

TMKOC has been consistent since it started and it has improved in that the cast has become very comfortable and act effortlessly now. It has had extremely boring episodes too and has also stretched tracks like the one about Tappu's child marriage, in the initial episodes.

It is just that the show started with minimal expectations and surprised everyone with wholesome entertainment plus social message, so that now we have begun to overlook the boring tracks and enjoy the show in its entirety.
Plus people watch the show mostly for Jetha Lal. He is superlative. The creatives are on track most of the time and entertain us so there is nothing to complain.

Some people seem to have started a malicious campaign to attack the show and that is too obvious.

We do not have extreme expectations from the show..it has been and hopefully will always be witty and pleasantly entertaining.
