Film: VASTHADU NAA RAJU
Source: Bharat student The credits of Vastadu Naa Raju in the beginning of the film has acknowledgements to BVS Ravi, Gopi Mohan, etc, etc..wonder what their contribution to the film was but they should share the blame in giving the audience a hard time. Vastadu Naa Raju is torture redefined. Don't know if Mohan Babu had watched 3 Idiots but someone should tell him not to force his craft on his progeny to satisfy his ego or carry his banner ahead and let them do what they are best at. Or if that is wrong the family should show mercy on the audiences.After trying out various subjects, Vishnu comes back to trust Dhee, the film and the ensemble cast that propelled him as an actor. The introduction is interesting, simple, uncomplicated and that raises your expectations. Sadly the film thereafter has nothing new to offer, it is so incredibly clichd and predictable, the jokes stale, the climax so tiring..this could have been directed by any spot boy on the set who has a fair knowledge of cut, copy and paste. Taapsee, poor little sweet girl, she needs to wait for another Telugu film to show her caliber but here her expressions were deadpan. Satya Krishnan makes a pleasant appearance but what she does through out the film is carrying a plate of rice and curry and is fussing over her husband or her sister-in-law like a mother hen, asking them to eat. Brahmanandam knows the film is on his shoulders, so he just carries it uninterestedly, none of his expressions work, even if you were to tickle yourself to smile. Ajay is the only bright spot but he too has hardly anything to do. It's just not stars who have crossed their prime need to do some soul searching, character artistes, villain like Prakash Raj should stop making a mockery of themselves in dramas such as this. Don't spend too much time thinking why this film could be dumb. About the story, the beginning of the film has a chase scene that is from Nenu Neeku Telusa, the hero jumping and running in lanes and by-lanes, long laborious monologue on Telugu Vadu, lines on Anjali Paapa which we have already seen a couple of weeks back, a heroine who is kidnapped by the hero and whose love story blooms after a full two hours. Wait, the lady has three wishes, she wants to be with her teddy bear, wants to write her exam, wants to visit the temple on Fridays..in between all this the hero's bike runs out of petrol and the viewers out of steam. Vishnu tries to imitate his dad, depends on comedy and pushes the love story to the second half, whatever the concoction is it fails to deliver. Editing is jerky, songs not worth listening, camera work is good nothing extraordinary, dialogues are clunky. No scope for actors to rise, as the content is flawed with a ridiculous finale. Vastadu Naa Raju can be a safe addition to the Manchu family's DVD collection of personal achievements. Source: Cinegoer |
