Hunt for Mishal's replacement is on; Shabbir & Gaurav approached
As per the latest buzz, the story line of COLORS' Laagi Tujhse Lagan will go in for a major change with a new family entering, post Mishal Raheja's exit..
Dutta Bhau, the iconic character in COLORS' Laagi Tujhse Lagan we hear will fade away very soon!! TellyBuzz had earlier reported that Mishal Raheja would be part of the show only till February 2011. We had also written about the introduction of a new character, who will be regarded as the new protagonist. He will be the new man in the life of Nakusha (Mahhi Vij).
The latest update on this is that Mishal Raheja's contract has been extended for one more month, and that the actor will bid adieu sometime in March.
Our source states, "There will be a brand new track that will kick-start in Laagi. There will be a whole new family that will be introduced. The creative team is presently working on the big track that lies ahead".
The channel and production house are scripting a strong character who would be able to match the popularity of Dutta Bhau.
"Actors like Eijaz Khan, Shabbir Ahluwalia and Gaurav Chopra have been approached for the role. As of now, Shabbir has been touted as the best choice for the role", adds our source.
Eijaz Khan confirmed that he has been approached for the show. However, Eijaz we hear has refused to take up the role.
Gaurav Chopra on his part said, "Actually my character in Uttaran might also come back. Yes, it is true that I have been offered a role in Laagi Tujhse Lagan. However, I cannot do two major characters at the same time, that too on the same channel. So I need to do the thinking part and choose what I want".
We tried calling Shabbir Ahluwalia, but the actor asked us to call him later.
The news abuzz is that Uday Tikekar and Madhvi Gokhte have also been approached for Laagi as part of the new character's family. If all goes well, they both will be playing parents to this new guy.
When contacted, Madhvi Gokhte did confirm to us that she has been approached for Laagi. "There is going to be a major change as far as the story line is concerned. I have been approached for the show, but nothing is finalized as of now".
Vinay Rohrra who essays the role of Bhaji Rao says, "Yes, I have also heard of this development. But we have not got any official confirmation yet".
However, a source from the production house rubbished the news of new characters being brought into the show.
We tried to get in touch with Mishal Raheja, but he remained unavailable.
Guess it's only a matter of time for the news to be officially confirmed by the channel and production house..
