Hello Everyone,

Well I have noticed that many people use the word "Paki" as a short form for Pakistani. But I want to tell you all that its not a very nice word. Its an offensive word towards Pakistanis. So please do not use it,I know you all didnt know but now that you know please avoid using it.Its actually a VERY rude word.

Thank You
Aryan

I totally agree. I have noticed people using this term freely in this forum but the term is often used derogatorily, especially in UK.

yea i know a long time ago there was a discussion about this in PSF and it was explained how the term "paki" was actually a really derogitory term..i admit i used to use it before but ever since i found out i stopped using it...i was contemplating getting my ID changed but couldnt think of what to change it to and ~PaKiStAnI*PrInCeZ~ would have been a little too long 😳

and what is weirder is that even though it is considered a derogitory term mainly in Uk it is members from UK who are using it 😕

i know this is a bad comparision but it has amost become like the word n----- (derogitory word for black people in case you didnt get it) if anyone else sayd it they get offended and it is technically considered a derogitory and racist word. however, when black people use it amongst themselves it is perfectly ok..i mean the "slang" term "n----" is used really freely among black people within themselves. they changed the er into a at the end and it is acceptable if they use it if anyone else uses it they will get jumped

its really sad that people think it is cool to refer to themselves by a derogitory name. ok you might like to degrade yourself and use such words to describe you and your family (i dont know why anyone in their sane mind would 😕 ) but keep me out of it. and by using terms such you are degrading all the pakistani people all over the world

PS: a request...i know a buch of people have called me "paki" instead of writing out my ID...i dont care about the alternating case of the letters or the asterisks but please either write out my entire ID or call me "princez" (make sure it is with a "z" and not "ss" because then you would get me confused with the member who's ID is "princess"- the GM and confusions are not good 😆 )

Actually Aryan it depends my friend. "Paki" can be taken many ways not just the bad way... it is basically a short term for "Pakistani" to most people. Unlike the term used to describe African Americans or what not. That word was actually created on the base of being an insult.

Many words and names have short versions and I actually believe "Paki" is a short for "Pakistani." Yes you are right it can be derogatory however not to all Pakistani's.

I mean the word doesn't hold any wrong meaning to it either, its just a short version. It depends on who you ask actually. If you ask a very patriotic pakistani he will most likely be offended but perhaps if you ask a regular citizen who respects his country and loves it but isn't as deep as a patriotic person he won't be offended at all. The term "Paki " cannot be compared to the term used to describe African-American's. Also african americans do not mind if you would call them reffering to their color. It is actually more common than saying African-American.

So yes the term "Paki" can be offending, It certainly can however not to all Pakistani's. The person who would most likely say it is not trying to offend one but probably just thought "paki" sounds better I suppose opposed to the long version. It just depends on who you ask and who you are using it towards.

Oh yes I forgot to mention. My heritage is Paki.

Regards,

Khizer😊
