thanks everyone for all the compliments. They motivate to do better :)

the vacation and holidays had me caught off guard.. but i have started writing it and its almost there. i am hoping to get it today or tomorrow.. fingers crossed :)

I did manage to complete the update and its huge :) so i should be let off the hook :)

~*~ Part 5 ~*~

As the old lady walked with her grandson out of the clinic she felt content. The grandmom had thanked her endless for saving the life of her grandson and for that matter helping through this village. She now kind of had sense of accomplishment, for this is exactly her vision was behind studying medicine and here she was doing what she loved. Helping people the way needed the most at this moment.

She looked around at Dr. Goswami who was busy talking to the the village sarpanch about cleanliness, yearly checkups etc. They were very much engrossed in the discussion when she saw a familiar face approach them.

What is he doing here? Is there anyone else also along with him?

Her heartbeat was rapid and she could feel the sense of uneasiness. She looked a way for a moment and tried to collect herself. She reminded that she can face him. She is ready and can be cool, calm and composed. She decided its worth trying looking in that direction again. And this time it was even worse.

He was directly looking at her.

She quickly looked away and prayed that next patient drops in soon. She thought she sure didn't expect this and whatever she told herself she sure wasn't ready to face him. She needed time and she was almost out of it. But she took a breath of relief when the next patient came in. She didn't look in that direction again and will not unless absolutely need to. It was now time to be professional and be doctor and treat the patient in front of her and at the same time strategize on how to face him.

She greeted the young girl with huge smile.

He wasn't sure if it was reality or a dream just like the one which was haunting him all along the journey. He couldn't take his eyes off her. She radiated happiness. But then she had turned and looked at him, at that instant he knew it wasn't dream. The pain and uneasiness in her eyes was evident. He could see it even though he was standing so far. She had looked away but he could still feel the pain he had seen in her eyes. But he reminded himself.. it was him who was responsible for this. He was the only one who could fix this. It was instinctive to walk towards her but he was stopped in his steps steady when a loud voice greeted him with enthusiasm.

Event though his heart was racing and he was thinking half time about Niki and her standing there in the same tent, he was there talking with these men. He thought Sarpanch Bhandari was nice middle aged man, full of energy and passion for his village. He was ready to accept new things that were better for his villagers. He was already talking about how to get regular medical supplies and stuff with Dr. Goswami. He didn't know Dr. Goswami from before but looking at his passion towards medicine he couldn't think anything but less of him than Dr. Shashank Gupta. He admired this old man standing infront of him for he was there giving so much of information. He told all of them about the injections he had brought along with him. He saw admiration in the Dr. Goswami's eyes. He blinked his eyes in affirmation and told them that he was sorry that he couldn't bring another doctor along. He was supposed to get another doctor but the doctor fell sick couple of hours before starting their journey and infact he too knew it when he stepped out of his home.

For now 2 boxes of injections and myself is all Sanjivanee can arrange for. But don't worry if needed Dr. Shashank can send another two boxes with a doctor in couple of days.

He told them and thinking that was in a way good. He gets time to talk to Niki before there are other complications.

Looking at Dr. Goswami he continued:

I think I should start getting the medicines out of the car and to our make and shift medical consulting area.

Dr. Goswami approved and told him that he can help and get them with him but on a second thought he thinks it would be good idea to take Dr. Nikita to help as he must know her from sanjivanee. They can catch up.

Inside he had a wave of happiness flow through all his body. He is going to get to face her all alone. He nodded and took their leave. Taking a moment he thought seeing her from distance was one thing but actually going and talking to her, it needed lot of work. He was not ready for this yet coming here but now he had to be as he knew this is what he has got and he has to make most out of it.

Walking towards her he was deciding whether to put professional or personal foot forward. He never had this dilemma anytime in his life. He always knew where his professional role started but here it was different. But decided to take it safe as well as what seemed correct.

He waited for her to finish with the current patient a cute little girl. He watched her being sent out of the tent and she waving with a chocolate in her hand. He didn't know when he had smile on his face and he was not stressed about all this meeting her. He saw niki making entry into her register; he hesitated for a moment and then decided it was the time. He cleared his throat to gain her attention. That did serve the purpose.

She looked, hesitant, and yet trying to be calm.

Hadnt he decided to keep it professional? Then from where did this come from. It must be that cute little girl along with this beautiful woman infront of him. He thought.

Her voice was pale and she didn't say more than that. But face looked calm and he couldn't read more on her face.

How am I? Was he same abhimanyu who had thrown me out of his house.

Even though he looked soft she reminded herself that she always thought same about him until the hell broke. So she had to keep in mind what happened in between them. She cant forget it. He reminded herself not to melt for any of the words or looks.

I am good, Dr. abhimanyu Modi. What brings you here.

He gulped. It wasn't going to be easy. He didn't expect it to be but it would have helped a bit to start on better note. He thought.

Dr. Nikita, I am here with two boxes of injections you need. Dr. Goswami asked you to come with me to move them here and ..

taking a moment he added

...setting a consulting table for me here besides you.

There is no harm in adding his own bits.. That should atleast give him enough time to see where she is what she thinks and then put his plea..

That went well Niki thought as she walked with Abhi out of the tent. She had kept it minimal and professional. That should work for now. She can think and decide how to deal with this later when she has her own bed to think on.

Abhi quickly looked at her as they were walking. She seemed lost in thoughts.

Might be good to break her thought chain right here. Who knows she might be strategizing on keeping him away.

So Dr. Nikita, you are hidden here haan?

There he thought he had caught her.

She looked at him surprised but immediately hiding it, he told him

I don't need to hide.

Yeah right who was she kidding to.

Since she herself sounded so unconvinced she added,

Besides this is exactly what I wanted to do and here I am.

As they reached car she saw the car, the car they had taken to paligaon where they had so much fun. The equation then was so much different and pleasant she thought and then reminded herself not to go there.

Abhi looking at her losing in her thoughts not knowing what and how to move the conversation ahead, pulled her close to him by grabbing her hands and swirling her around her toes. He went ahead and put his lips on hers. But he found her stiffening and making wall of himself. He released her created a bit of distance and said, Niki.

But before he could continue,

Dr. Abhimanyu, how dare you. You have no right to touch me.

He took a step closer

Niki, I am..

She took step backwards and continued

I am not one of your intern who wants to and will get close to you for your internship. So please stay away from me. And then don't you think your reputation is going bonkers by even touching me.

He could see tears in her eyes or were they in his. His vision was blurred and he was not sure if it was from hers or his tears. He knew he had hurt her but he didn't want to. He could see that it is still hurting her and all he wanted to do was take her pain away.

Wish I knew exactly how. Wish I had got another chance.

He saw that it had started pouring now and they were getting wet. She was about to go fold her hands around her but he took another step and grabbed her hands and said

Niki please,

Please, what please Dr..

She had pulled her hands away and stepped back, but this time he put his hand on her mouth and continued.

This is the only way you are going to hear me out niki so I have to.

Niki, I am sorry, I was blind with anger. I have hurt you and I am really sorry. I know I cannot take my words back but I can apologize and tell you that it won't happen again.

He saw his grip on her mouth loosening and she taking another step back. But before she can speak he continued

I was very angry Niki. Not just because your friends insulted me, but more because you let them. It had hurt me, my faith, my belief. I created a shield around myself to not let this happen again and to teach you lesson but I didn't realize when in that anger feat I was behaving irrationally to you. I didn't see you needed time and when that time came you came around. You came to me so many times, forgave me so many times but I couldn't let it go. I couldn't forgive you, I couldn't see you being there irrespective wrath I was setting on you. I couldn't believe you..

Taking his hands from her mouth and throwing them away she continued

Believe? Abhi I was there standing in front of you every day just thinking today you would see me, today you would be over your anger be ready to talk but you never were. It felt like every day your anger was increasing. And then you called me your home. You called me abhi, I didn't ask you. You called. It was you Abhi, you.

He thought alteast she called him Abhi. Score 1. But those tears in her eyes and sting in his heart was unbearable.

I know niki, I know. I wasn't thinking straight then. All I could think was revenge, I was not myself..

Abhi you told me I was seducing you for getting through internship. How could you. How could anyone say it to anyone.

Niki I know and I am very sorry for that. I feel embarrassed of what I did but please give me a chance. Please forgive me for whatever I did, whatever I said. I was hurt but I was unreasonable. I was looking forward to punish you but I was punishing myself by doing all this. Believe me.

He was approaching her taking each step slowly but she pulled out her hands and warned him to stop there.

No Abhimanyu. I cant believe you. You want me to forgive you for all those words. I can but I cannot believe that you didn't mean any of those words. It has taken me months to get over all this and believe in me. Believe that Niki isn't a person who runs behind guys to get some work done or seduces to get the internship done. It took you a week to break me down Abhimanyu but it took me months to rebuild myself and to teach myself to be happy again. I cannot let myself break again. Not again. I am happy here being..

Happy? Are you happy Niki. I don't see you happy.

Well Dr. Modi you don't know me anymore so don't behave like you know.

Niki I am not behaving smart or anything. I just want to see you happy. I want to take away the pain I gave you and I don't see that happiness on your face. I don't see that bubbly Niki anywhere.

You wont see it Abhimanyu because I have grown. I am not the same Niki whom you would blame for being in love with you. And I am not same Niki who is in love with you.

The rain was pouring drenching them completely but it didn't matter to either of them. The surrounding everything was blurring. He stepped forward to hold her hands but she pulled herself away and continued.

Yes Abhimanyu I admit I was in love and I didn't realize it then when you wanted me to accept. And when I realized, came to terms with it you didn't want to see anything. I apologized but you didn't forgive. Yet I kept coming. All you could do was insult me and not just for my work but you blamed my character. Abhi How can I believe in you. I cant. If you can think about someone you love like this just because that person didn't stand up for you, then how is it love. How can I trust you that you wont do same thing if I did some mistake again

Niki, I am changed too. I understand and I have learnt from whatever happened. I cant change the past but all I can assure is it wont happen again. Niki I might have said things but that doesn't mean I mean them. I didn't express my anger in right words but please let me try again. Give me a chance to show you how much I lo..

But before he could pour out his heart she stopped him and said

Try is not enough Abhimanyu. Try isn't. I can't. You said you want to see me happy.

He taking her hands nodded his head. Tears were freely flowing through his eyes.

If you want to see me happy then stay away from me because I am happy. And I would be as long as I don't have to face my past and reminded that I am not good enough person. I cant give you more than that.

Niki..

Pulling her hands out of his, collecting herself and taking huge breath, she said

I think we should take the medicines inside. The rain has stopped and there are patients waiting

She looked at her dress and just shrugged a bit and blinked her tears away walking towards the car's back door.

He looked at her for a minute and saw her blink those tears. He knew she still love him, whatever she said. He will make her accept the feelings. He would make her believe that he can be trusted. Taking a deep breath he moved to the car unlocking the door.

Pri......finally!!!

Well...great convo between Abhi n Nikki. Both in love but the humiliation they bestowed on the other is making it really difficult for them to get over.....I like the fact that the ball is in Abhi's court....he kinda gets to go after Nikki!!! Update fast girl....waiting to read how Abhi convinces Nikki that she still is crazy abt him.

@honey: thanks a lot. well the readers response is so low that i dont feel motivated enough to write next part. its just last couple of weeks i got few pms to write next part so kind of making my mind to start writing next part

@wow123: thanks. i agree they both made mistakes but then thats human nature. one can make mistake but realising them, getting through them is life. When niki didnt speak she was at biggest mistake but i think abhi was at fault to. to indirectly ask her to choose him over rest of them. probably she was not yet prepared for that. she was still understanding her own feelings his feelings. But what abhi did was pure revenge. he was so angry that he didnt see anything .. he couldnt see how much she is caring for him. i feel niki gave him long time to get over that anger. she would have given more time if he wouldnt have called her home for reports and that incident didnt happen.. but it did and thats where her limit to stay calm and go through this was over. she didnt know what else could help to get over his anger and when he was going to gwt over. she didnt have any option and ran away...
