Host : Welcome to 24 Frames and Congratulations on reaching upto top 2 in the Indian Idol Program and we wish you all the best
Did u have a hint that you will reach upto this position before Participating in the Indian Idol Program
Karunya : One thing is that i have a confidence in myself. When i went for the Ground Versions and the Long Queues, i was having a confidence that i will be good for the Title. But in the middle there was fear that the Public should accept and support me. But the fear was everything depends on Voting.
When in the initial stage i was having little fear but my confidence build up Gala by Gala.
Host : How did your selection take place
Karunya : Basically we are from Nalla Chakravorty Family. My Grand Father was N C Krishnamachary was a Sanskrit Pandit and Violinist and Vocalist. And the rest of my family members are all related to the Music and i learn from all of them. That is how i learn my basic in music from my family. My intention regarding my future was to start playback in the Telugu Film Industry, then move to Bollywood and then International Industries. But when last year we saw the Indian Idol Program 1, one of my friend ask me to participate in Indian Idol 2. But again somebody told me not to go bcoz this time everybody was saying it will be a Girl. But i paused my engineering 2nd Year and went for the Auditions in New Delhi. There i sang the song of Mannaday " Kaun Aaya mere man ke Dwar " and all the three judges said the same comment to cut the whole long story short you are coming in the next round
Host : So u belong to the Musical Family
Karunya : We are basically a Classical Music Family. In our family everybody sings whether he is young or old. In the Family Marriages we all sing the whole night and somebody playing flutes, violens and other instruments
Regarding the Language he said that by the Grace of God he has the same command on other languages as he has in Telugu and when he sings in other language he does not feel as if he is singing in other language which he don't know.
Host : One of the Judges on the Program Sonu Nigam said last week that if Karunya is voted out i will lie down
Karunya : Yes when they ask him when Amey was voted out the judges walked out and now if Karunya is voted out, then Sonu Nigam said that this time he will lie down
Host : How do u feel about the Judges
Karunya : i was little afraid of Farahji, and Anuji. Sonuji supports me while clapping and giving comment s on my singing. But Farahji and Sonuji view the participants from overall package which includes, singing, performing and dancing. In South Indian we don't perform during singing. It took some time for me to come out of this conservative singing to the platform of Indian Idol.
In my first gala i just came to the stage sang my song and went off. There was no interaction with the public. From that until the last gala there has been a lot of improvement and ease in the performances
Host : Do u practice everyday for the Galas
Karunya : Our schedules are very busy the whole week. After finishing Tuesday Galas, everyday we have schedules or concerts until late nights. Yes we have the Vocal session and 24 cameras are there on the set to interact with the public. Now regarding the choreography i do myself.
For Delhi Concert i did the whole choreography for myself and performed.
Host : How do u perform and sing so good during the Live Performance
Karunya : By the grace of God I have a good grasping power and my Carnatic music base gave me lot of confidence and helped me a lot. I don't find difficulty in singing any type of song.
The selection process is very intense. By the time you reach to top 12, you have so many elimination rounds and at each and every step they test our singing skills and performance including duets.
Host : Karunya you look much smart compare to your first session in Indian Idol. How does the Grooming sessions take place
Karunya : to Tell you frankly, when i was here i was not that conscious about my looks and grooming. When i was in the College i was Rough and Tough like other youngsters, but after i went to Indian Idol, i felt i am representing Sony Channel and will interact with the people, then i started taking care of myself and do my own hair style
Host : Who do u like to thank for you change in appearance
Karunya : First i like to thank Sony TV for making us so smart eautiful and other will the makeup team and crew who groomed us completely.
Host: After you select the song how does it go from there
Karunya : After the selection of song we have one music manager Ajay Bhaiya, he will guide us. After my 2 hits both Punjabi people told me not to sing soft songs. But in teleugu all the songs are soft and i was doing it through out my life. But now people are thinking i cannot do the soft singing.
All the credit goes to him for selecting the tough songs for me since he knows my versatility, so he ask me to take difficult songs and sings.
When i do normal singing, i checked on India Forum and the public will say Karunya did not picked up a challenging song, it was just so and so. Here everything is decided by the Public and the result are by Public voting.
My main reason to come to Hyderabad and then to your program is to make aware to the public about Indian Idol and to vote for me.
Host : How do u feel during the Performance
Karunya : Before the performance i feel very nervous, but as soon as i go on the stage i feel like king and start performing and entertaining the audience
Host : After you such a good singing we people feel depressed if you don't get good comments from Judges, How do u cope up with that pressure
Karunya : After Bombay Caf which is for Top 3, i went into depression for 4 rounds. People started feeling that after the exit of Amey i have an edge on the other 2 singers and i started taking things for granted and selecting easy songs. During that particular phase i kept confidence in myself and if you doesnot stand up at this particular phase then you will fall out. But after the last episode everything became normal
Host : What inspiration did u receive from our Telugu singers like Balasubramanium, and what support do u receive from them or on phone
Karunya : When i was young i participated in the program and won the title and received through the hand of Balasubramanium. Regarding the Mobile i keep it off most of the time, bcoz if it is on then the calls will there continuously and you cannot concentrate on singing. I just on my phone call my close friend Meenal and take feed from her on the Galas and comments and then close the Phone.
But came to know that Balasubraminium told on some TV Channel regarding me, but regarding ( Telugu Actors ) Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi are campaigning for me. I know both are treated like Gods here. So it is very inspiring for me.
Host : As per you Meenal is your best friend, so how u r friendship goes in there
Karunya: When i was here i was studying Engineering and i was mature in each and every field including religiously. But after going there i realize that most of the participants are much elder to me. But all the 11 contestants are close to me and give me a feed back after each galas.
Host : Which contestant was good enough to give you a tough fight
Karunya : Monali Thaku, her voice was like Lataji and a strong classical base. I see her a complete package for Female Indian Idol
Before i came to Indian Idol many of my friends ask me not to go to Indian Idol bcoz Annu Malikji told that this time it will be a Female Indian Idol. So i told my friends i have faith in myself so let me go and try out for Indian Idol.
Host : what do u have to say to youngsters who would like to participate in this kind of shows
Karunya : There are lot of diversions at this age. Everybody has some or the other talent in them. Bring up you talents and concentrate and keep practicing What ever you do you do with Determination, interest, and soulful then you will succeed.
Host : What do u have to say to the audience
Karunya : I have to say only one thing, that my main aim to come to Hyderabad is to make everybody realize my point of view to vote me for Indian Idol. The only thing which i am lacking at this stage compare to the other contestants are the votes are not coming from my native.
So please donot vote me just bcoz i am from Hyderabad. Watch me next Monday and if u like my singing and performance, then please vote for me without fail. I know you all will do but it's a last effort and i will clinch to the title.
