err.. it's kinda long.😳
only four pages 🤣🤣🤣
please do read my rambling....
Anwar
Three things catch your eye first and foremost when you watch this movie.
1-The Background Music
2-The Camera Angles
3-Acting
I saw the movie this weekend, and it was incredible!
Prithvi was amazing, and you are really pulled to his character, his portrayal of Anwar is one to watch. From the very first glance at him, I was on the edge of my seat, because experience [and my obsession for him] has taught me he's one to keep an eye out for.
This is my summery/review.
It starts off which a bunch of seemingly unimportant things- but pay attention. A high clothing store in Coimbatore is blown up, and even though you knew if would happen [the camera doesn't forget to pause dramatically on the culprits faces] your heart wrenches for the poor mother who holds her dead 10 year old.
Forward to the police inspector person, who demands the best from his task force. He is shown to be very humane, a nice person yada yada.
And somehow he gets his main suspect- no it's not Anwar.
But really, you don't want to like the guy, but you get the feeling he's really a small fish, it wasn't him. He will now be referred to as SM cuz I don't remember his name 😆
And then the beautiful heroine is captured too, just because she's a chem. Engineer at the place that supplied the ammonium [L] Poor Ayesha.
Fast Forward One Year to: Anwar's entry
So he steps off the train, holding only a duffel bag which he soon "forgets" at an STD/ISD booth, only to be reminded by the attendant. You're shown undercover officers watching him like hawks, and as he heads towards the abandoned section of the train station, followed by an increasing amount of policemen, you don't care if technically, he's a "bad guy" you want him to get away. Cept he doesn't. He ends up in jail, where SM and his little gang are wandering around acting mysterious and innocent.
Anwar gets the usual new kid on the block things, eventually beating up the bullies, getting beaten up by the police wardens torturously, then just as he's about to get picked on in his weakened state by the old bullies, in comes SM as his gang, effectively taking him under his wing.
Anwar and SM bond immediately, both are Muslims who don't believe all Muslims are terrorists [well duh! Only stupid idiotic *I can really think of a bunch more adj for those @ssh#les* people think that]
Anwar tells SM he's an orphan, to which SM relates cuz his dad was killed before his eyes and he's therefore scarred for life.
SM soon manages to get Anwar bailed out.
Anwar's an orphan who then shacks up with a supporter of SM.
Time goes by, Anwar wins over SM's confidence, beating up the opposition etc etc.
SM gets out of jail, and takes Anwar alone for a drive…
Yeah. The dudes a terrorist, and he gives Anwar a choice, a gun really, which Anwar takes [u think idiot, I think I know u have a plan baby]
Turns out SM was really pissed that his dad was killed, n he thinks killing other people will like fix that or something… yeah idk either.
Time goes by yada yada, they make bombs, plant bombs, blow people up, have a cool song sequence.
Laugh at the police cuz they manage to put a harmless bomb in their HQ [Anwar's one smart cookie! A cute one too…]
As Anwar gets pulled in deeper, we find out SM really is a Small Fish who wudda thought?!?! The big bosses have bigger stuff planned dudes…big sh*t.
A young trainee is killed and the audience sees Anwar begin to waver.
So he quits, decides he loves Aish and we love happily ever after… ya. Right. Don't I wish?
So he's scheduled to bomb another place, and he does, reluctantly. He cringes as he sits on the bus and hears it detonate and u see him really wavering. He gets home and the gang is happy because the blast is all over the news, and it killed three [Read 3] people.
And he looks ghostly pale, SM goes, what's wrong?!? And Anwar saves his hiney saying: Only 3 people died?!?!?
SM laughs, talks like he's the new messiah and leads him to a top secret room where a bunch or comp/TV screens are showing off a bunch of cool effects. And it's like a list of a lot of terrorists; maybe it's like their own Facebook, idk.
SM begins his happy rant about how they will change the world and make it realize they mean business etc etc, the man seems convinced, but I don't get his logic…whatever.
The topic of the Coimbatore blast is brought up, told you to remember it!
Camera pans to Anwar's ghost white shocked face.
SM gloats about its success, and says: you've only heard about it right? Wanna see? A video of the blast begins playing, but the camera is busy running circles around Anwar who looks ready to cry.
FLASHBACK!
1.5 years ago
A very hot cute adorable Anwar stylishly rides his bike to a house of celebration, hands his keys to a friend and goes inside has a cute moment with his mom. [Recall he told SM he was an orphan, who grew up in an orphanage] He cutely tells her that he refuses to go on another errand, because he did not come home from Bangalore to run errands, but to act cool at his only sister's engagement.
Enter cool dad, who says a distant relative is at bus stop waiting, Anwar manages to get out of it. Song sequence! [Remember Ayesha the chem. Engineer] Anwar sees his sister's friend Ayesha, and is immediately mesmerized. After the festivities he gets roped into driving her home along with the food parcels for her family. He makes a jab at the amount of food she takes, she ignores it, he feels lame and they drive off. She ignores him, daintily listening to her iPod the whole way.
She lives in an orphanage, by this point in the movie you're making guesses and connecting dots. He hears her story, sees her with the kids and is latoo.fida.whipped.
Scene switches to a cute family moment where his family teases him about his crush before agreeing to talk to her.
Of course she agrees their happy, song!
The family and Ayesha arrive at Coimbatore, where Ayesha works. Dropping her off they head to the sari store. The same store that was blown up.
This is where you are ready to cry, Anwar is the typical guy who abandons his family after a while, heading out for a smoke, passing by the culprits who lounge around.
As he puts the cigarette in his mouth, it all goes BOOM.
And you're back to the present where he sits in a bed, narrating the events to himself, fingering the news article about his family.
He gets up determinedly, walking into the rain mysteriously…meeting Police inspector!
Should I tell you guys the rest…. Na…..
Now coming to my three main points:
The Music.
Not just the bg music, but everything, is amazing. You feel the energy as the music starts, and each piece seems to be specially crafted for THAT instance, it just flows beautifully. Nothing seems out of place, none of the song sequences are wasted, when the hero's running, regretting, shooting, training, etc etc, the music is perfect. There was something for practically moment of the movie, even during strong dialogue delivery, the subtle bg music could only enhance and leave you mesmerized. It's safe to say I'm in love with the composer and the editors for this.
The Camera/Direction:
They work hand in hand to deliver a unique experience, quick clean shots for a fast paced, involving script, that's wonderfully brought to screen. The angles of the camera, the precision with which it was handled, the effects, are all just amazing.
And the director too, I loved the script, parts of it were clich, but it was ok because of how he presented it. You were kept on the edge of your seat even as you cringed in pain for Anwar. Or were going OMFG! This was clearly a heartfelt work, and the director managed to pull this off, and got everyone else to put their best foot forward.
Acting:
Prithviraj. There's no words for this man. Hes so young, yet he knows what he's doing. Wheather it's as carefree Anwar, the prisionar, fighter, terrorist, anything. He's simply superb and leaves you in awe.
There really just cant be enough said, when he's regretting, you feel it. When he's crying you feel it, you want to wipe away the tears. When he's in pain, you want to pull him into a bear hug and rock until he's alright. When he puts out the punches you're rooting and going "go baby! Go baby go!" [atleast I was, I was also blowing him kissies 😃 ]
Prakash. This guy, haha, I love his acting. He's really great, gels into his character, and you hate when he- err sorry.
Lal. He plays SM, and you love to hate him. He's kind of a psycho, and Lal did well showing the different shades from his interactions with Anwar, his mother, sister, and minions, and bosses.
Mamta. She really didn't have much of a scope, but she utilizes the very few scenes she does have. And before you go why's she there then. Well A: every movie has heroine even if she shows up for three songs and a I love you hug, but really, it's B: Her prescence is really important to the storyline. Watch the movie, you'll see…
So this is fourth page in word. Oops. Sorry!
I hope u read some of it 😆
Basically this movie rocks, watch it, watch it again. Tie people down so they will watch it. And so they will see terrorism makes no sense, and also, it's not a part of Muslim religion, so get your head out of the gutter!
K, Peace!
