Part 100
She slipped into the bed beside him and moved into his arms whispering, "I'm only yours Maan!"
She lay in his arms and closed her eyes. Maan opened his eyes and looked at her for sometime and smiled. He knew she was only his and there was nothing in the world that would change this truth- absolutely nothing.
He closed his eyes and went back to sleep, but Geet, though had her eyes closed was thinking back.
One fine afternoon, she was fast asleep with Muskan, by her side, in the outhouse bedroom. Muskan was one week old and it had been three days since both of them had gotten home from the hospital. Maan was in office, trying to finish his work. He had made sure she and their new born were safe and comfortable. Only after having assured their safety and security, he left to office to attend some important clients.
It was about 2 in the afternoon, it was bright and scorching hot outside. Geet had awoken by the ring of the door bell. She involuntarily got out of bed to open the door, assuming it would be Maan. He would pop in at odd times, from office, to see his little princess and spend time with her. Geet smiled at how close Maan was to Muskan and opened the door with the same enthusiasm, only to find Dev, standing there.
Her smile changed to a frown first and then her eyes turned red due to anger. She decided to shut the door on his face and walk in. She tried closing the door, when she heard him speak, "Geet, meri baat sun lo, ek baar!"
She stopped to look at him, with curiosity. He looked scared and worried. She decided she would never let her past interfere with her present- the minute she realized she loved Maan and vice-versa. She tried to shut the door again and he held the door.
"Geet, just once. This is important!", he said, loudly this time.
"I don't want to listen to anything you say, Mr. Dev", she shot back.
"I am not here to apologize or seek for forgiveness. I have other important stuff to tell you about my bro- Maan", he said.
She looked at his eyes, which for once, reflected honesty. "You will not even take that name on your lips. You are not worth taking that man's name, you've lost that right long time back".
"Alright, I will not take the name of the man who leads the Khurana empire. But this is important, you have to listen to me, for once", he pleaded.
"No!", she fumed and tried shutting the door again. But Dev's hand held the door again.
"I heard you enough and got deceived enough. Not any more!", she said angrily.
"This is not for my good, this is for you're good!", he said, angrily.
"Since when have you started to care about the good of others? Anyways, I don't need any well-wishes from you! Now get out", she said, looking away.
"Look, I don't have much time, but the news I have is very important! So just listen, When Maan was in his early twenties'." And Geet slapped him across his face.
"Told you not to take his name, didn't I? Now listen, don't create a scene here. I trust him and I love him more than anything on this planet today. So get out! All this while, I respected you because, by mistake you happened to be a Khurana. Now if you cross your limits, I'll show you what Mrs. Geet Maan Singh Khurana can do!"
"You said you trust him and love him, if that is true, then nothing can come between the both of you. But mark my words Geet- don't let the trust fall short at any point of time", he said, feeling his cheek. She looked at him surprised, and re-collected the words, "don't let the trust fall short at any point of time". She then saw him walk away and closed the door.
"Why did he talk about trust?", she thought, as she sat by the closed door. She thought of all possible reasons but could not connect anything with trust. She called Maan, but cut the call, immediately. She realized she would unnecessarily put him into stress. She called Vicky, who answered the call immediately. She told him about her conversation with Dev.
Vicky heard the whole story without uttering a word. "Don't worry bhabhi! Usne kuch aise hi bhol diya hoga. Aap chinta mat kijiye. I'll handle him", he said, cooly.
"I know he cannot hurt me or Muskan, as long as Maan is with me. But I'm just concerned why he spoke about trust and all that? Vishal, I, honestly want to know. Is there anything about Maan that I do not know?"
Vishal, unaware of the presence of a lady named, Sameera, in his brother's life answered, "No Bhabhi, Bro is as clear as a crystal. And you know everything about him. In fact, you know more about him than all of us do! So please don't worry. And anyways for your satisfaction I'll find out what Dev was trying to tell you!", he assured.
"Thanks!", she said and hung up. She sat by the door for a few minutes when she heard her phone ring again. It was Kia this time. Geet answered the call, and Kia apoke up immediately, "Geet , tu pagal tuo nahi ho gayi? Veerji tumse kyun kuch chupayenge? Even if he did, there must be some strong reason behind it. I'm sure he will tell you everything once the situations are favorable. Isi liye zyaada soch mat, so jao thodi der ke liye. Sham ko walk pe jayenge", she spoke non-stop.
Geet shook her head as though her gesture would be visible on phone. She hung up and brushed away all sorts of doubts. She got up and walked to the bedroom, she slept beside her baby and closed her eyes.
The sun had already risen and Maan opened the curtains of the bedroom. Geet hid her face with the pillow. It was morning already and she had not slept the whole night. She heard Maan walk into the bathroom and close the door behind him. she sat up in bed. She rubbed her eyes and looked around. she thought about the incident she was been thinking about all night. She got out of bed and stood by the huge glass doors of the verandah. She regretted not having heard Dev that day. had she heard him, she would have got to know Sameera's story then and there. But now there was no point regretting it- the damage was done.
While she was lost in thought, she felt her top, go wet at the back. She could feel Maan's warm breath on her neck. She closed her eyes and knelt onto his bare wet chest.
"kya soch rahi hain?", he asked, softly, touching his lips to her ears.
Geet who was not in her senses, uttered the name, "Dev", and quickly opened her eyes shocked.
Maan moved back and away from her. "taiyyar ho jao! You need to go to Chennai", he reminded her.
"Main who nahi kehna chahti thi. Mera kehne ka matlab who nahi tha", she said, softly.
He looked at her for a fraction of a second and said, "Main jaanta hoon, Geet! Like I said before, I need time". He stood in front of the mirror and combed his hair while Geet looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"Geet, I said I will listen to you, once you come back from Chennai. Get ready now. Muskan ko main taiyyar kar doonga", he said as he wore his shirt. Geet shook her head and walked into the bathroom. Maan stared at the bathroom door for sometime and then went into Muskan's room after getting dressed.
As he opened Muskan's room door, he was surprised to find around 5 helpers standing there. And Muskan was standing on her bed and shouting out instructions and the helpers sincerely nodded their heads.
Maan knelt on the wall and listened to her talk. She said, "Cookie ko Vishal Chachu se door rakhna. When Vishal chachu is at home, make sure cookie is not around. Agar mujhe pata chala ki cookie ko vishal chachu ne pareshaan kiya, tuo main, wapas aake tum sab ko kaam se nikhal dungi."
"Next, Papa ko time pe breakfast, lunch aur dinner serve karna. Agar unhone mana kiya tuo kehna ki Muskan Maan Khurana ki order hain. Tab who khana ko mana nahi karenge".
Maan smiled at her authority. He repeated, "Muskan Maan Khurana ki order hain" and smiled even more.
He came out of his thoughts and heard her continue, "Daadima ka khayal rakhna. Main nahi hoon, iska yeh matlab nahi ki ghar mein sab chup chap rahenge". At this point, Geet entered Muskan's room to see if she was ready or not. She looked around and surprised at what was going on. She was about to call out to Muskan, when Maan stopped her.
Geet looked at him questioningly, when Maan told her, "she looks adorable. Let her talk". Geet looked at Maan, who looked at Muskan with utmost love and adoration. She smiled and knelt onto him. he put his hands around her stomach and rested his head on her shoulder and both of them watched their little princess.
Muskan continued, "Daadima se baath karte rehna aur Maan Khurana ko bhi yaad dilate rehna ki unki daadi unhe aaj bhi bahut pyaar karti hain. Warna kaam karte karte, Maan Khurana bhool jaata hain, ki unh eek ghar hai, ek daadi hain, ek beti hain aur ek biwi hain".
Geet shook her head saying, "itni badi badi baatein kaha se seekhi?" and Maan whispered, "hain tuo tumhari beti, Geet!"
Geet looked at Maan angrily and he maintained a straight face, "flight ka time ho raha hain!", she said.
"hmmm!", he said and moved Geet away from her a little and called out to Muskan. All the helpers left the room immediately and Muskan looked at her dad angrily. "I'm nopt done talking to them yet, Papa!"
"I know. But its time for you to leave to the airport", he said, as he took her in his arms.
Geet picked up her bag and walked behind them. The driver placed the luggage in the trunk and Muskan sat in the back seat. Maan put her seat belt. Geet was about to sit beside Muskan when she heard Maan say, "Madam aage baitiye. Main driver nahin hoon!". And took the keys from the driver and took the driver's seat.
Geet smiled and took the seat beside the driver's seat. "aap airport, hume drop karne aa rahe hain?"
"Nahi! main airport dekhne jaa raha hoon. Bahut din ho gaye na, isiliye", he said, sarcastically.
"aap bhi na!", she said, and turned to look at what Muskan was doing. Muskan was playing with her soft toys and looked out of the window occasionally.
Geet turned to look at Maan, "Main teen din ke andar wapas aane ki koshish karungi".
"aaram se aao, koi jaldi nahi hain!", Maan said, cooly.
"kya matlab? Aapko koi farak nahi padta?", she asked, fuming.
"tum har baath pe gussa kyon ho jaate ho? I don't want you to put yourself in stress and work too hard because you have to get back to Delhi as early as possible. Is it that difficult to understand?", he asked her, in a loud tone.
"okay!", she said, mellowing down a little. "you might miss Muskan, if I take my own sweet time and work in Chennai", she added.
"I will miss you too, but that's okay. You have a certain responsibility towards your job. I understand that".
"how can you be so understanding always?", she asked, smiling.
"I don't know!", he quickly said. The rest of the journey remained quite calm but for Geet answering certain calls from office, confirming her flight schedule and her cab details. The car came to a halt in the airport and Maan and geet looked at each other, while Muskan screamed, "Mamma chalo, aeroplane mein jayenge".
Geet looked at Maan and Maan knew what it meant, "take care!", is all he could say and "be careful, take good care of my little princess". Geet nodded her head and got out of the car, took her bags and held Muskan's hand with hers. Both of them turned to greet Maan, but he was gone. Geet's eyes wandered as fast as they could on either side, but all she could sight, was a white colored Mercedes that was going towards the exit road.
She sighed and walked into the airport. She had to get back to work now, after a long time. She had to answer questions about working with Khurana Constructions and business tycoon, Maan Singh Khurana, who also happened to be her husband. This was something the whole world did not know yet. She wondered how they would react when they knew she was Geet Maan Singh Khurana.
She brushed away those thoughts and boarded the flight. She was happy being with her daughter. She had done numerous travels alone , but this time, for the first time, she was travelling with her daughter. The only person missing, was her husband. Had he not been adamant, the whole family could have travelled together for the first time, she thought. But she smiled at how her life had changed. She was back with her daughter and her husband had started to accept her a little. He probably already missed her, that's why he could not wait to see them off. For him, telling Geet a "bye" was something very tough and something he would never do. Even today, he simply dropped them at the airport and disappeared without telling them a "bye". She smiled at how sensitive he was, even today, when it came to issues concerning Geet and Muskan. The toughness and the attitude are only on the exteriors, that make him look all the more appealing, but deep within, he is a soft and a very sensitive person, only his near and dear ones knew.
It had been a whole day, since Geet left to Chennai. She got busy with office work and Muskan spent most of her time on the beach with some of her new friends. Geet patiently waited for Maan to call and find out about their well-being, but this man, as always, never failed to surprise her. He did not call her even once nor did he text her. She wondered what kept him so busy. Though she wanted to call and find out how he was doing, her ego, as always, stopped her. "He'd call, if he wants to!", she kept telling herself.
Whereas, in the khurana mansion, everything fell silent- like it was before Muskan's arrival into the house as a 1 week baby. Maan and others in the Khurana Mansion, were used to the noise and confusion that Muskan created on and off. With her gone for sometime now, everything became dull. There was no one to mess with the vegetables and sauces in the kitchen, there was no one to hit people with the cushions, there was no one who would scream and yell, until all her demands were fulfilled. Vishal missed Muskan's fights and arguments. He played with Cookie everyday for sometime and took good care of Cookie because Muskan loved Cookie beyond everything. Kia missed her cute little talks in the kitchen while she cooked and did not feel like entering the kitchen without Muskan. she had called Muskan on Geet's phone and told her to come back to Delhi as soon as possible. Daadi missed the fun and happiness she bought with her smiles and screams. Everyone complained about how dull and bland the mansion was without Muskan. But the only person, who missed her to no extent was her dad, yet he spoke nothing. he never complained about missing Muskan or never asked her to come back soon. He simply listened to how much the others missed Muskan and smiled and walked away. He knew she would come back and that she needed some time with her mother. Though he missed her, he never confessed it. He wanted to hug her and take her into his arms. He wanted to carry her on his shoulders and play with her, but patiently waited for her mom to bring her back.
Did he miss geet any less? No, he didn't. but he just did not want to express his feelings on how much he wanted to be with her and compensate for every second of those six years she was away from him. he wanted to tell her, how important she is to him and how dependent he is on her. But never found a chance because he was too upset with her. He did not want to find any chances either, because he wanted her to trust him and not just love him. But she understood his every feeling, as his eyes made everything so clear to her.
It had been four whole days, neither Geet called Maan nor did he call her. Both of them hoped the other would call and waited patiently. Maan worked in office most of the time and Geet did the same in Chennai, while Muskan enjoyed her self on the beach. Finally, it was time for Geet to get back to Delhi, for a couple of days.
She did not tell anyone that she would be getting back as she wanted to surprise everyone. She knew everyone at home, would be missing Muskan and her naughty deeds. She boarded the flight and finally decided to text Maan, "kaise hain aap? Ek baar bhi message nahi kiya aur phone bhi nahi kiya! You're princess is very safe and has had a wonderful time in Chennai. Missing you- Geet"
She had to switch off her cell phone before she could receive a reply from Maan. It was a two hour flight and both of them fell asleep, as both of them were very tired. The flight landed safely and both of them, were about to take a cab back home, when Geet got a message, "Waiting for you and Muskan- Car no DL 09B 9213, silver color Audi- Maan"
Geet was surprised. She did not tell anyone, that she was travelling back to Delhi. Then how would Maan know? She looked around the place to locate the car, when she got a text again, "Don't think too much, you're looking in the right direction. I can spot you, in my rear view mirror. Now start walking".
Geet was not sure, what was happening. She tried to walk to the left and her phone beeped again, "Walk the opposite direction, Honey!"
Geet was frustrated and stopped mid-way when Muskan questioned her, "kya hua mamma? Hum kahan jaa rahe hain?"
"pata nahi beta! Thodi der chup raho. Main waise bhi bahut confused hoon!", she said and texted Maan, "Why don't you come and stand in front of us? Why all these games?"
"It's fun, honey. Come now! You know which direction to walk. Cant wait here longer. Have to move the car. So faster!" came his reply.
Geet held Muskaan tighter and walked in the direction of the car, or atleast hoped she was walking the right direction. She finally spotted the car and Maan and put Muskan in the seat behind and sat down in front. Maan realized she was irritated, but he enjoyed it, thoroughly. They drove home, quietly. Once they reached home, Muskan jumped onto Maan and he kissed her. He hugged her tight and did not let her go for quite some time. Geet, spoke to the others while Maan and Muskan still hugged each other not speaking a word. After a couple of minutes, Muskan ran out of his hug and went to meet the others. Maan smiled and walked into his room and Geet stood there, rooted, shocked, that he did not even look at her.
She had not spoken to him for five days and she had seen him, but it just did not have any effect on him. She was worried, if the situation has worsened because she left to Chennai. She went upstairs grumbling, "hey babaji, kahin maine inse door jaake ghalti tuo nahi ki? Inhone kaha tha, ki unhe kuch waqt chahiye aur main maan gayi. Kaash main Chennai nahi gayi hoti. Accha khasa chal rahi thi sab kuch, aur main apne haaton se dighad diya. Ab kya karu, babaji?"
Maan was sitting in a recliner chair and reading a magazine. Geet hurried into the room and saw him happily sitting and reading.
"Na hi, na hello, na how are you?", she screamed at him and pulled away the magazine. He looked at her blankly. She had her insides fuming, when she found his reaction neutral. She sat beside him and asked, "aapko kaise pata ki main Chennai se aaj wapas aane wali hoon? How did you know which flight number, which time and all that?"
She waited patiently for a few minutes for him to answer, but he didn't. she could not take his silence and yelled at him, "agar chup rehna tha aur mujhse door rehna tha, tuo hume pick-up karne airport kyun aaye? Aapko laga hoga ki main akele nahin aa sakti? ya phir aapko aapki princess ki zyaada chinta thi?"
She still found his reaction calm and blank. She got up and was about to walk away when he held her. He gently pulled her into his arms and hugged her. She found herself melting in his arms. Her anger, her frustration and doubts, everything seemed to disappear with that one hug, that spoke volumes. She did not need any further assurance from him, that he missed her- missed her to no possible extent. He held her tight in his arms, as though, telling her, never to go away from him, as though even the smallest of the separation was difficult to bear. She closed her eyes and held onto him and he did the same. For how long, they remained in each other's arms they did not know, all they knew was that they could not live without each other and that they complete each other.
After what seemed like ages, she heard him whisper, "I missed you, Geet ! "
Okies people, that's it for now. hopefully, in the next part you would get to know the flashback....!!!!!!
Well, cousin's marriage went good, but too bad, I was down with viral fever and could only attend one hour of the wedding. I did not have the stamina to sit through the entire wedding or attend mehendi or sangeeth. So lot of thongs have happened in the last few days. The year ending has been quite adventurous for me.
With lots of projects on hand and presentations , with cousin's wedding and guests at home , with viral fever and throat congestion......... ufffffff.......... lot of things to handle once right.....??????? So, that's the reason, I could not update for this long...!!!!!!!
But now, Im doing much better, than the previous week, where I could even talk or walk. My fever's come down and I decided to give you all an update, once I'm a little comfortable with sitting in front of the laptop for some time...!!!!!!!
Hope you guys liked it. The update has been a little slow but I guess, its been really long so I've lost touch with it too. But i'll come back with a better one very soon...!!!!!!
