While CJ Oberoi may create havoc and mayhem on the small-screen in Jassi's life, actor Vikas Bhalla who plays the conniving businessman is a far cry from the character he plays. "I consider myself a very loyal friend and a good husband and father. So being manipulative with anyone is just not my cup of tea," he says with a dimpled smile. "In fact, the only thing I see in common in the two of us is that we are both go-getters. The similarities end there," he stresses.
Currently hosting Bollywood This Week on Zee Music and also acting in Shanno Ki Shaadi on Star Plus, Vikas has his kitty full for the moment. "I'm even shooting for a new serial called Kasme Vaade which will air on Star Plus in the near future," he reveals.
It's no wonder then that Vikas looks forward to his days off where he can just chill with his family. "I love being at home on days when I'm not shooting so that I can catch up on my sleep," he says adding, "I also spend time playing with my six-yearold daughter, Sanchi. We go swimming at Otter's Club near my house or even play video games."
Having met his wife Puneeta (daughter of Prem Chopra) seven years ago while studying commerce at Narsee Monjee College in Mumbai, Vikas is one of the few TV stars who prefers to attend parties with his wife. "Right now, Puneeta is expecting our second child and prefers not to socialise too much. Hence, even I try to restrict going out."
The Bhallas don't know if it will be a boy or a girl, "But Sanchi is definitely hoping for a baby brother," says the proud father. Vikas is quite the film buff and makes it a point to catch up with all the latest releases at the cinema hall or on DVD. "I love watching all kinds of films but my absolute favourites have been Million Dollar Baby and Titanic," he confesses.
Vikas' other passion is music, being a singer himself, and world music is what he prefers listening to. "Although I sing Hindi pop, I enjoy listening to world music. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is a particular favourite," says Vikas.
Currently, Vikas is working on his next music album (after a break of seven years) which will focus on romantic ballads. "The music will be by Sanjeev Srivastava and lyrics by Shaheen Iqbal, so look out for it," he urges. Vikas also enjoys good food, especially sea food and enjoys eating out at restaurants like Gazali (for sea food), China Garden (for Chi nese) and Olive (for Mediterranean fare).
As far as clothes are concerned, Vikas is not particularly into designer wear. "I'm more of a jeans and tee shirt kind of person," he says. "I usually opt for my casuals from Diesel or Levi's but have friends like Rocky S. and Anna Singh design a few formals for me," adds the actor. Vikas also owns a few formals by Armani and Banana Republic, "But you'll rarely see me in them," he says.
However, Vikas does have a fetish for belts, shoes and watches and keeps adding to his collection whenever he comes across something inter esting. "The most expensive watch I own is by Breitlings. I also own a Rolex and a Longines. As for my shoes, I have quite a few by Nike and Reebok." These trainers and sports shoes come in handy when Vikas works out six days a week. "I like to keep myself fit and do that by exer cising everyday, except Sun day," he says.
