Maan went on looking at the three of them working in harmony for some time, then he saw Geet coming back to her cabin and Aditya and Pinky taking their leave of her.

Geet came back to her cabin and put on her headphones and started on some new sketches, she glanced once at MSK through the glass partition and saw that he was also working. After sometime she forgot the time and was very submerged in her work and was very startled when all of a sudden MSK came into her cabin.

Maan signaled her to remove her headphones and waited.

"Have u finished ur work?" he asked standing with his arms crossed.

"Almost, why, are u leaving already"?

"No, but I thought we could both use a cup of coffee".

"No, thank u I am not feeling like it." Geet remembered how he had ignored her earlier.

"Anyway u had said earlier that u like coffee made by Ashok babu only so'''.i don't think u will enjoy anyone's else's'''''''''''Geet gave a very small smile.

Maan knew why she was smiling in such a way. "Well I was thinking of making a cup for myself so I thought u might be interested to have some."

"Sir, u will be making coffee?" Geet was surprised and her face reflected that.

"Yes, I can make a decent cup of coffee but not as good as I had been drinking since Ashok babu started preparing for me", come let's go.

And without waiting for her he strode towards the cafeteria and the kitchen. Geet followed behind him. Maan started looking into the cupboards for the coffee and then sugar then for the milk and kept on muttering '''"Where is everything kept',I can't seem to find anything." Geet was silent for sometime but then she couldn't stand the sight of him constantly muttering, "Sir, have u ever prepared coffee?"

"Of course, I know how to prepare coffee and my own meal if the occasion demands, but I have never done it here that's all".

Geet couldn't take it any longer and went forward and took the utensil from his hand, "sir, u sit down I will prepare it for u". She proceeded to then take everything from its rightful place and started to make the coffee. When she saw that he was still standing behind her watching her , she felt a little uneasy and said, "Sir u can go back to ur cabin, I will bring u a cup." Maan nodded and went off smiling to himself.

Geet brought two cups of coffee on a tray and entered his cabin, she gave him his one and started to go with her cup when Maan stopped her, "why don't u bring the project drawings here and we can go over them right now and also finish our coffee?"

"Ok", so saying she brought in all the drawings that Adi and she had printed out. MSk was sipping at his cup when she entered. "Geet did u learn to prepare coffee from Ashok babu, it seems exactly like how he used to prepare it, his one is just a little bit better than this I think."

"Better than this, surely not! As he never used to make ur'''''.", Geet stopped herself, she looked at Maan who was watching her.

"Yes, u were saying?" Maan asked. "Aha'erm'..Maan sir, u will not be angry on Ashok babu if I tell u the truth'.?"

"Ok", Maan stood with his arms crossed over his chest. "Actually Ashok babu didn't know how to prepare coffee." Geet blurted out. "How come, he always used to bring me such a nice cup of coffee every day for me, if not him who used to make it?" "Sir, I used to make that pot for u every day, but sir Ashok babu didn't want to lie to u but I had asked him to do so thinking u won't take coffee made by me on the first day and then it went on and we didn't tell u later on''.please don't be angry on Ashok babu as I am the culprit..". Geet finished in a rush with downcast eyes.

"Ok, so u are the one who had lied, so then u must pay the price too, u have to make coffee exactly as u have been preparing so long now, only this time no lies, fine?" Maan asked with raised brows.

Geet smiled, "Ok, no problem". Then they started their work.

Gradually with each passing day Maan started depending on Geet for almost everything from his files to his coffee to his schedule which he started altering according to when Geet had her classes and when she didn't. Surprisingly they themselves didn't notice how much they had both altered their schedules around each other. But Sasha saw that and she was going green with envy.

On Friday she made sure that she was the last one to go from the office and she removed the schedule that Geet had kept on MSK's desk for her classes for the coming week. Geet wasn't supposed to come to the office from Tuesday as she had her term papers, so she had made a complete schedule for Maan sir so that even if she wasn't there he would be able to get all his necessary files and drawings for the meetings for the week . She had planned on coming on Monday in the second half and then to tell Adi and Pinky where she had kept everything so that they could help MSk for the week.

Monday morning Maan waited for his coffee which he had now got accustomed to getting from Geet everyday as soon as he came in, but she was nowhere in sight. He looked into her cabin but her bag wasn't there. He called Pinky asking her why Geet was late but she wasn't able to help as she was also wondering why Geet hadn't come yet. Adi was also thinking Geet was never late and he had also observed that the first thing that Geet did was give MSK his first cup of coffee every day. The day went from bad to worse when the clients came in sharp at 10 o'clock and no one was able to pull up the required plans for the interior designs which Geet had finished the earlier week. Maan was livid with anger. And to add fuel to this fire Sasha kept on saying all through the mess,

"What a irresponsible person Geet is, u shouldn't have given her so much liberty, she is but temporary MK, after the completion of this project of the multiplex she will be gone anyway."

This seemed to make Maan angrier. And as the clients were leaving very much dissatisfied with the presentation, and Maan and Sasha were standing in the foyer to see them off''Geet entered, the moment MSK saw her, he gave her a very angry glare and turned from there and walked back to his cabin, saying,

"Aditya make sure no one disturbs me, I have to attend to a very important phone call".

Geet who was oblivious to what had happened, as was her nature smiled at everyone and wished them Good afternoon, Adi and Pinky started to say something but Sasha cut them off, "So Geet Handa, did u find time from ur precious life to grace our office with ur presence?"

Geet was very surprised on hearing Sasha thus spitting venom at her, then the expressions on Adi sir and Pinky and most of the office staff who were her friends registered and she understood that something big has happened.

"What happened Sasha Mam? Why are u saying so?"

"Well did u forget that ur just a temporary addition to this office of ours, or did u think that u are going to permanently make this ur thikana?" Geet opened her mouth to say something but Sasha rushed on, "When u know that ur not to stay here permanently why are u taking on such responsibilities that are not urs to take? Why are u handling all Mk's files, do u want to become his secretary? Today becoz of u an important client left without signing a deal which has never happened in Khurana Constructions ever before. Why didn't u tell how and where the files have been kept, and is this the time to come to this office without prior notice?"

Geet had been totally confused with what Sasha had been saying till she heard the last, "but I had given my schedule to Maan sir and there it is written that today iam going to be coming in for the second half, so why are u saying such things?"

"Is that so? Then pray tell me why MK doesn't know this, u have behaved very irresponsibly today, Tasha will take over the management of all the files of MK from now on, u just brief her on where everything is filed and u just look after the job for which u have come here." Sasha went off from there saying so, very satisfied that she had succeeded in tarnishing the image of Geet in Mk's eyes.

Geet stood there for sometime then she took a deep breath and walked towards Maan sir's cabin. Adi stopped her saying, "Geet don't go now, he is in a very bad mood now and he won't listen to what u will say to him and he has asked no one to enter his cabin now, I know there must be some misunderstanding and that u can't behave in such a way as Sasha has said, but now is not the time to talk to sir".

Geet gave a small smile, "Thank u Adi sir for supporting me without asking for any explanations but I have to talk to Maan sir, I can't let him go on thinking that I have been so irresponsible, and if I don't talk with him now, I won't have any time later on as I have my exams from tomorrow. Let me go I'll be fine."

So saying Geet knocked t MSk's cabin and entered and closed the door. Maan was talking on the phone and didn't acknowledge her. Geet patiently waited for him to finish and kept on standing. The moment MSK had kept down the phone she said, "Maan sir''."

"I had told Aditya, to tell everyone not to disturb me now, did he not inform u?"

"U know I heard u myself as I had come in then''. will u please''..".

"Is this the time to get in? U could have notified someone of ur delay and told them about the place where u have kept the sketches and the finished drawings which were to be put today before the client, I have never before been in such a position before a client and all becoz of ur carelessness, how could u be so irresponsible"?

"But sir, will u please listen to me'.". Geet tried to say but was again cut off by Maan.

"Sasha is right, u don't have the experience or the attitude required to take on any of the responsibilities which I have been giving u recently, from now on I will seriously look into the matter of a professional assistant from a reputed firm and u will only handle the work for which u have come here."

Geet couldn't stand it anymore, she had been trying to make him listen but when he remarked about Sasha's opinion, she got angry, she knew that Sasha didn't like her for some reason and that is why she always kept on giving her very bad attitude, but today she was not prepared to accept the fact that without listening to her Maan sir would just give her a verdict.

"Baas Maan sir, I hope u feel well after telling me so much. U cannot serve me with a verdict without listening to my part of the whole incident. I have been working here for two months now, and never in this whole period of time have I behaved irresponsibly at any level of my work. Till date I have always provided u with all changes in my schedules without u ever needing to ask for it. On Friday I had put the schedule at this very spot on ur desk as u were working with Sasha Mam on the drawing board, if u remember I had come in and then left quietly, I don't know why u didn't get my note, I had even given a detailed instruction about all my files for today's meeting as I knew about it too. I have never given u cause to say such harsh words to me in these whole two months and without asking for any explanation from my side u just started scolding me'''''." At this point Geet's voice broke'''her eyes were filled with tears. She angrily wiped away the tears that escaped from her eyes and said,

"If u feel I haven't been able to take on the responsibilities that u have been giving me, then I will hand over all of ur files to Tasha as Sasha Mam has told me to do, and u can hire whoever u want to, but don't call me irresponsible. I'll let Tasha or Adi sir know about ur files right now, I have to go."

So saying she rushed out of MSk's cabin and went blindly to Adi's cabin which was at the other end of the office, Pinky also followed her and Tasha whom Sasha had sent to keep a watch over Geet went off to tell the good news to Sasha that Geet had come out of MK's cabin with tears in her eyes.

Maan was left speechless''''''..every word that Geet has said rang true to him, he remembered that she had indeed come into his cabin on Friday evening before going home and then had left the cabin without saying anything, but he had not seen her keeping anything on his desk.

"But why will she tell a lie to me, what would she get by it, true in these two months I have given her so much more responsibilities but she had never said anything, nor complained or messed up'''''was I wrong in assuming that she had behaved irresponsibly? Then where did her schedule go.?"

He remembered how tears had sprang up in her eyes, how she had held herself proudly, how she had not once tried to change his mind.

Maan rang his bell and Ashok babu came in, " Ask Geet madam to come in, I need to speak to her".

"Geet madam has just left, she went to Adi sir's cabin and then she left."

"Call Adi then".

Ashok babu left and after 5 minutes Adi knocked and came in. Adi put a detailed list in front of MSk and stood mutely. Maan looked at the list it contained information about all his meetings and their corresponding dates, the files which will be required for those meetings and all computer saved information of Geet's files on her drawings, sketches and plans for the coming project.

"Adi tell Geet to keep this list to herself, when is she coming in tomorrow? Tell her to meet me in the conference room as she will be required to present the details of the interior plan of the multiplex she is designing."

Adi just shook his head, "she is not coming tomorrow, she has her exams and she will not be coming this whole week. But don't worry she has explained everything to me and said that if necessary I can call her up and she will clarify whatever doubts or problems I or whoever u will appoint, might have regarding anything that she had been handling".

Maan nodded, "U have her number?"

"Yes sir,".

"And she will resume as she had been working from next week?"

"From Tuesday next, only that sir, she had said that she will be just working on her project and in this way she would get more free time for her friends and her studies."

Maan didn't look up, he again nodded. "You can go for now". Adi left. He went directly to Pinky and narrated all that he had said to Maan sir, hearing this Pinky asked, "When did Geet say she will get more free time to spend with her friends? She just told about her studies. why did u say so?"

Adi smiled, "I added it on my own, I wanted him to realize that she has her own circle and life outside this office and if he is not smart enough to understand her value soon then he might lose her to someone else, pinky he called me 'Adi' today and he didn't even realize it".

Maan sat silent in his office for a long time with the note in his hands, "Why did I say such harsh words to her without listening to her side of the story? Had I started to take her for granted, surely not becoz if that would have been the case then she would have had become a habit of mine, but it is not so''' I am just feeling bad as I had done injustice to someone, not because of anything else'. Maan Singh Khurana doesn't require anybody to survive''..,"

Agitated he got up and started to pace to and fro in his cabin, "So why does it feel like something is missing'''''"?
