Get set for a funny 'historical' experience

His new stand-up comedy show, History of India — VIRitten is a more subtle attempt at stand-up comedy. Produced by Ashvin Gidwani, the show guarantees an evening of nonstop laughter as Das takes you on a journey through the history of India with his inimitable style. Be ready for a few facts, a whole lot of fiction, a little satire, a lot of pride and a truly historical experience.
Listen to Das as he takes you to the beginning of civilisation — the legendary cities of Mohenjodaro and Harappa, where Indians were the first to invent city planning, sanitation and basic tools. Hear him talk about our Vedas and philosophies and discuss our weirdness and anomalies. Laugh with him as he takes you stright from the British Raj to the amorous Raj and Simrans of today! From days you didn't know were present to present day. Das presents the funniest elements that have been a part of our heritage, how much there was to laugh at in our struggles, how much humour there is in heritage.
"History is hugely funny, we just haven't been reading it right," says producer Ashvin Gidwani. "Your perspective on history depends totally on your historian. And who says your historian can't be as twisted as your history! While the show is about the history of India, it doesn't focus on history as we know it. Rather, it explores a history so twisted, funny, out-of-the-box, and so completely unbelievable, you won't be sure it even actually happened," says Ashvin with a laugh who plans to take the show across India after it's debut in Mumbai this weekend.
