So I managed to type this Part out pretty fast.

As I have stated this SS will be coming to a close soon. I still have a few more things to wrap up I'm assuming 2-3 more chapters and then I'll put this one to rest. I still have All the Wrong Move in All the Right Ways going and if time permits I'll start another short SS tentatively called At First Sight...going to be an action/spy/romance thing at least that's what I'm going for...more Bourne Identity then 007 😛
Part 19: One Plus One Equals Four?
Heer opened her eyes staring at the white ceiling of the hotel room. She turned her head to the side to see Prem sleeping on his stomach facing towards her. She smiled and gently leaned over to kiss his bare shoulder. She pulled back suddenly and groaned as she cupped her mouth and dashed towards the bathroom. Prem hazily lifted his head awoken by the sudden change in pressure from the bed. He heard the sounds of Heer throwing up in the bathroom and frowned with worry. He got out of bed and slipped his boxers back on before heading to the kitchen to warm up some water.
Heer felt cold crouching on her knees in the bare on the cool bathroom floor. She gripped her stomach feeling the nausea coming back and leaned over the toilet. After relieving herself for the second time that morning she felt slightly better. She flushed the toilet and made her way to the shower to clean herself. Thirty minutes later Heer remerged feeling more refreshed, clean, and ready to start the day. She smiled seeing that Prem had taken the initiative to clean the room and start sorting out their suitcases. "How are you feeling?" Prem asked worriedly.
"Better," Heer said as she tightened the towel around her.
"There's a warm cup of water over there for you," Prem said pointing to the dresser. "Good thing I booked an afternoon flight. I didn't want you having to deal with morning sickness on the plane."
"Prem, go and get ready I'll handle the luggage," Heer instructed. Prem grabbed some clothes and gave a quick kiss on her forehead before heading into the bathroom. When he came back out Heer was wearing a long turquoise-blue plaid tunic shirt and black leggings. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she was sucking on a lollipop.
"I had these Preggie Pops packed away. I can't believe I didn't think of this yesterday when I was having that horrible morning sickness," Heer replied.
"Those things really work to calm nausea?" Prem asked as he toweled his hair dry.
"Don't know. I guess we will have to see. Mom, bought me a whole bunch for the trip," Heer said. "They are supposed to work I mean they were made by people in the medical profession to help expected mothers with morning sickness."
"I'm guessing everything you ate last night came up," Prem said.
Heer frowned and nodded, "But I'm okay right now. Mom was telling me to eat lighter meals and just sort of snack instead of eating the regular three square meals a day. When's our flight again?"
"It's at 2:30. We should be in Toronto around 7:30 or so," Prem replied. "I'm sorry I couldn't take you to London."
"You're sorry? I am the one that's sorry. I don't think I would be able to be in a plane for 12 hours in my current condition. Since everything was sort of pushed up we were only able to get two weeks off from work on such short notice anyways," Heer said.
"Yeah, I wanted to be able to take you out on a longer honeymoon than just two weeks," Prem said. "But next time for sure."
Heer smiled as he slipped his arms around her waist pulling her into a back hug. "Next time...we'll have someone else to take with us."
"Someone?" Prem asked arching his eyebrow. He felt a sharp jab in his gut from Heer's elbow. "Eh...oh, someone," he corrected.
"How could you forget?" Heer asked.
"I didn't forget. I just figured we could...um, go alone," Prem replied.
"You would leave your child home alone?" Heer asked in a slightly alarmed tone.
"Our kid would not be alone. Ma or your parents could watch him or her for us," Prem answered meekly. Heer turned her head and gave him a disapproving look. "We'll have family trips. Just this one is adults only for the time being. We may be parents but you're still my wife. Can't a husband have some quality time with his wife?"
"Yes, he can. But just remember what quality time can produce," Heer said.
Prem snickered, "So what's the limit then Sweetheart? 4? 6?"
"Ah," Heer gasped. "Just going off morning sickness alone I am not going to repeat this another 5 times. I'm willing to go to 3 at most and if an accident should happen I'm fine with a number 4 but after that I'm getting my tubes tied."
Prem rested his chin on her shoulder, "You know I didn't have any brothers or sisters when growing up...sure I had a lot of cousins but I kind of missed not having a sibling to hang out with. I want him or her to have another one to grow up with. I think 3 is a nice number."
"Don't worry Prem we'll definitely give him or her a sibling," Heer replied lovingly. Prem gave her a thankful kiss on her cheek. "Okay, back to my question...can we buy a box of saltine crackers before we go to the airport?"
"Sure, but why saltine crackers?" Prem asked.
"Your Mom suggested it for the trip. Something for me to snack on and I guess since its bland I won't have issues with it. I'm beginning to really get affect by smells and things," Heer answered.
"What do you feel like eating for breakfast?" Prem asked.
"I just want some breakfast potatoes," Heer said.
"All right I'll go place the room service order. Looks, like you got the suitcase situation all figured out," Prem said. There was one large rolling suitcase open and two medium sized ones lying on either side. Heer had placed all the clothes they had packed in their individual suitcases into the larger suitcase and all the other extraneous things they had packed for the wedding where placed into one of the medium sized suitcase. "Wait, are we taking two? Heer, everything can fit into the big one."
"Souvenirs," Heer simply replied. "For my parents, my brother, your Mom, Meher, Preet, and Veera and the girls."
"Just what kind of souvenirs are we buying?" Prem ask in disbelief.
"You never know," Heer said. That's what the extra suitcase is for. I definitely know we will be buying some maple syrup."
Prem chuckled and kissed the side of her head, "Okay. Nihaal and Veera will be picking us up around 11:30 or so...I'll call them to buy the crackers that way we can just go straight to the airport without having to worry about the time."
"My husband is so smart," Heer smiled and playfully tugged his cheek. Prem just grinned widely at the affectionate gesture.

"So, are you feeling excited?" Veera asked as she inspected a grey shawl zip sweater from the rack.
"Oh, that looks so cute!" Sanjana squealed in delight. "Heer, you have to get this."
"You know I have to say your maternity wardrobe is the best...you're always looking so cute," Ashlesha said.
Heer smiled, "Thanks. I do a lot of online shopping. I feel bad sometimes cause I'm constantly purchasing new things. I think I get a little too click happy. Prem doesn't seem to mind...he says as long as I feel comfortable...that's the most important thing. But I'm trying to keep myself to a budget now."
"Well, your belly is going to be growing so you're going to have purchase new things," Veera replied.
"I know. I'm starting to be a little smarter about what I buy...you know try to find things that match with my existing wardrobe so I can mix and match and layer...making new outfits with the current clothes I have," Heer said.
"That's really smart. And don't worry about the clothes. You said you and Prem will be having more children later on so you'll get another chance to use your maternity clothes again," Sanjana said.
"Yeah, you're right," Heer replied. "Oh, and to answer your question Veera...yes, I am excited and nervous. It's our first ultrasound. I can't believe we had to wait 15 weeks."
"Really? I heard some people can get them as early as 7 weeks," Sanjana said.
"But you probably can't see very much another than a little tiny dot," Ashlesha said. "That's probably why some doctors make you wait a little longer. I know I would rather see more than a tiny speck."
"So, you're going call us and tell us the gender of the baby right?" Veera asked.
"Of course," Heer replied. "Though I wonder if it will be very accurate. I've heard of people thinking they will be getting a girl but instead get a boy."
"Yeah, I've heard of those stories too," Sanjana said. "Don't worry...just buy neutral things in the mean time. But you know I really hate how society has dictated us to only associate certain colors for boys and girls. All colors are beautiful just like people we shouldn't discriminate. I'm painting my baby's room blue even if it is a girl."
"Oh, planning on having babies are we? Does Prashant know about this?" Veera teased causing her to turn bright red while Heer and Ashlesha laughed.
"It's nice playing hooky from work don't you think?" Ashlesha asked.
"We aren't playing hooky...we're doing research...besides the boss marked us out for the whole day for that convention. They aren't going back into session until 3:30 since they let us out so late for lunch," Veera said.
"I have a legitimate appointment," Heer replied.
"When's your appointment Heer?" Ashlesha asked.
"It's at 3:00," she answered.
"Is Veera dropping you there or is Prem coming to pick you up or?" Sanjana asked.
"Prem's coming to pick me up," Heer replied she then touched Veera's arm, "Thanks for driving me around. I've been troubling you a lot lately."
"What's this thanks? It's absolutely no trouble at all...anytime you need a ride just call me," Veera said. "And by the way Nihaal would like to thank you again...what for the hundredth time now I think it is for the maple syrup you guys got from Canada. Every time he has pancakes he says it's the best maple syrup he's ever had and wants to thank you two. He's starting to get stingy on the syrup. He yelled at me yesterday for using too much."
"Nihaal yelled at you?" Ashlesha gasped with a chuckled. "He's usually so calm...I can't imagine it."
"Well, he loves me but apparently not as much as the maple syrup," Veera joked causing the girls to laugh.
"Well, we haven't had time to go shopping for a new car. Prem's been a bit busy at work and he wants to inspect the car himself which I think is ridiculous...it's like he doesn't trust me to be able to read a consumer car report and figure out what car has the best crash test rating and everything...and then go out and purchase that car. It's not rocket science," Heer huffed.
"I think he's just worried you are going to come home with another Bessie," Veera laughed.
"Don't make fun of Bessie now," Heer defended. "She was a good car."
"She was a great car!" Ashlesha replied sarcastically causing Heer to give a disapproving look while Sanjana and Veera giggled.
"I'm surprise Prem didn't force you to get a new car the minute he found out you were pregnant," Sanjana said.
"What did you guys do with Bessie?" Ashlesha asked. "There is no way someone bought it...no one would be crazy enough to do it."
"Unless you're Heer of course," Sanjana teased.
"Hey, when I bought Bessie she was fine. Obviously over the years she had some issues because of her age but she still ran beautifully," Heer replied with a slight pout. "I had her recently fixed so she's in good shape. But Prem wanted me in a new car with a better crash test rating for my and the little one's safety. Anyways, we donated it to Goodwill."
"Heer are you getting teary-eyed over the car?" Ashlesha asked. "Uh-oh, must be the hormones...it's just a car you know not a living person."
Sanjana handed Heer a tissue from her purse, "Gosh, Heer it's going to be okay."
Heer chuckled, "I've been a little batty lately...just last night I was crying while we were watching Iron Man...and two days before that I was crying because we ran out of milk and I was the one who drank all of it. I don't know what was wrong with me...I guess I was feeling guilty that Prem didn't have any milk to drink."
"You were crying over using all the milk and crying during an action movie?" Veera replied. "How's Prem taking all of this?"
"He just laughs at me," Heer said.
"And you don't get mad at him?" Ashlesha asked with surprise.
"Oddly, not really because I know I'm acting completely ridiculous," Heer replied.
They all turned around when they heard a familiar deep voice greet them, "Hey girls." Prem was wearing a simple white graphic t-shirt, jeans, and New Balance sneakers. "Find anything good?" he asked as he gave Heer a kiss on the cheek.
"How did you know to look for us here?" she replied slipping her arm around his waist as he stood next to her.
"Well, this is the only maternity store in the mall," Prem answered. "If you girls weren't here I was going to call you next."
"We found this," Sanjana said lifting the grey shawl zip sweater out of the clothes rack.
"Looks nice," Prem replied.
"It's okay we don't have to get it," Heer said.
Prem took the hanger from Sanjana, "You should get something to keep you warm. It's winter now you should have a couple of proper sweaters."
"It's really not necessary," Heer said trying to persuade him to put it back. Prem ignored her and went to the cash register to pay for it. A few minutes later he came back with a bag and a big grin on his face satisfied with the purchase. "Thank you," Heer said. "But we have to set a budget."
"If I can't spoil my pregnant wife what kind of husband am I being?" Prem asked. "You've been dealing with morning sickness, had to give up coffee and some of your favorite foods...and there is more to come...back pain, swollen feet, and sleepless nights."
"Aww, that's too cute. Cut him some slack, Heer," Sanjana said.
"If you're treating me like this what are you going to do when the baby comes?" Heer asked.
"Don't worry. I've budgeted enough...she or he will have the best," Prem replied.
"Why do I have feeling you're going to buy an entire toy store or something?" Heer asked suspiciously. Prem just smiled brightly. "I don't want to raise a spoiled baby...within reason please, Prem."
"Oh-ho, we know who's going to be the enforcer in this parental relationship," Veera teased.
"Daddy spoils while Mommy rules," Ashlesha joked causing everyone to laugh.
Prem checked his watch and with an apologetic look, "Sorry ladies, have to take my wife to her doctor's appointment." The girls nodded and waved goodbye. "Call us!" Veera shouted as a reminder. Prem raised his hand to indicate they wouldn't forget and walked hand in hand with Heer out of the store.

Heer stared at the ultrasound machine noting the strange attachments that would soon be used to help her see her first child. Prem stood by her side holding her hand as loving support while they waited for the doctor to start. The physician assistant help Heer pull up her shirt revealing her stomach which was only a tiny bulge. "The gel is going to be kind of cool," the P.A said. Heer nodded in understanding and the P.A. gently rubbed a good amount over her belly. "Ready when you are Dr. Davidson."
The doctor turned around and smile as she turned the machine on. "Just relax, Heer," she said. "We're just going to glide this little scanner looking thing I'm holding in my hand across your stomach and then we'll be able to see who you've been carrying." Within a few seconds a black and white image appeared on the monitor.
Heer gasped holding Prem's hand as they both looked on with great curiosity and anticipation of what their baby looked like. There was an overwhelming sense of proud and joy flowing through Prem as he saw a form of something on the screen. He was in complete awe that he and Heer had made the living being residing in her stomach. Dr. Davidson proceeded to do all necessary medical checks she needed to do while explaining to the parents-to-be what she was looking for and what things she had seen. "Everything looks absolutely fine," she reported. "So, now for what I'm sure you want to know...we have to check for the parts. See here...this hamburger looking image...that indicates you have a baby girl..."
"I'm going to be a father of a baby girl," Prem grinned happily.
"You got your wish," Heer smiled.
Prem gave her a quick kiss on the lips. "She's going to be just like you when she grows up I can feel it."
Dr. Davidson smiled at the happy couple's celebration. "And there's one more thing to show you. See this turtle looking object over here...that's your boy. Congratulations fraternal twins!"
"Twins?" Prem repeated breathlessly. Heer looked at her husband and noticed his face twitching. She felt his hand suddenly go limp and the next thing she knew he was down on the ground.
"Prem?!" Heer cried and then sighed to herself, "Oh, not again."
The P.A and Dr. Davidson were soon by Prem's side checking on his condition. "They usually faint when they find out the first time they are becoming a father, but you'd be surprised how many fathers faint after hearing they will be having more than one baby."
"He fainted when I told him I was pregnant," Heer said.
"Aah, looks like you have a fainter on your hands," Dr. Davidson chuckled.
"I'm worried...how is he going to survive when I'm in labor and giving birth?" Heer asked.
"May have to set up a chair or something for him to sit in when he starts feeling woozy," Dr. Davidson joked. "Don't worry Heer; I'm sure he'll do his best not to black out at one of the most important events in his life." She turned to the P.A, "Ashley, let's get him some water I think he's coming too." Prem hazily opened his eyes and grimaced putting his hand to the back of his head. "You fainted," Dr. Davidson simply reported to him.
"Again?" Prem frowned slightly.
"Here's some water for you," Ashley offered.
Prem took the cup without any objections and took a long drink. "Thanks," he replied and handed it back to her.
"You think you can get up now?" Dr. Davidson asked. "Ashley, could you go see if there is an ice pack we can get him. He took a nasty bump to the head. "Nice and easy now," she advised as Prem stood up. "Okay, how many fingers am I holding up?"
"Two," Prem answered. "My name is Prem Juneja and my wife is Heer and we're going to have twins. The month is November and it's a Thursday."
"All right you seem fine enough," Dr. Davidson laughed, "But the minute you have nausea or vomiting, headache, dizziness, amnesia or memory or concentration problems, slurred speech, loss or blurred vision, or ringing in the ears...you go to the hospital."
"I will," Prem replied. He then turned to Heer with an apologetic look, "Sorry."
Heer shook her head and held his hand, "I'm glad you're all right."
"I promise I won't faint when you're in labor," Prem said.
Heer chuckled softly, "We'll sit up a chair for you just in case."
"You guys are all set," Dr. Davidson said as she cleaned up the gel from Heer's stomach. "The picture should be finished printing out any minute now."
"Thanks Dr. Davidson," Heer said taking the photo into her hands.
"Continue doing what you're doing. Swimming is an excellent way to keep in shape...definitely puts a lot less stress on your feet and body so I'm glad to hear you're doing that. But now that you're carrying twins it's important that you gain enough weight. About 35 to 45 pounds by the end...so during the second and third trimester you should gain one and a half pounds per week," she instructed.
"I'll make sure she's properly fed," Prem replied.
"I have a question," Heer said. "With twins will I be able to have a natural birth or will I have to get a c-section?"
"You should be able to deliver naturally without any problems. A cesarean or c-section surgery would only be performed if the babies are breached...meaning they aren't facing head first. But that's something we'll be monitoring more and more as the weeks get closer to your due date. Babies tend to shift throughout the pregnancy so it is possible you could end up having to go into surgery or not at all. There are also cases where you have a natural birth of the first twin and may have to have a c-section for the second twin because of positioning. Again, nothing to worry about until we get closer. We'll talk more in detail about what you want to do later on," Dr. Davidson explained. "Just relax and enjoy. Take your time. Ashley should be coming back with an ice pack real soon. You two take care. I'll see you in five weeks."
The couple said their thanks and was soon left alone to talk privately. Prem placed a gentle kiss on Heer's head, "Twins. We're getting a baby girl and baby boy."
"I guess we are both getting what we want," Heer replied. "And look siblings right off the bat."
"Now the question is who's going to be first?" Prem grinned.
"Oh, are we betting now?" Heer asked. "What's the wager?"
Prem pondered for a few minutes and then said, "Whoever wins we will use their baby names."
"Ah, so I'll make a list and you'll make a list and if I win I get to name both?" Heer confirmed.
"Exactly," Prem replied. "So it's time to start making our lists." He then grinned confidently, "Be prepare to lose."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm going to win," Heer said and jokingly stuck her tongue out at him. Prem laughed and then gave her a loving kiss. "I love you," she whispered against his lips.
"Love you too," Prem replied. "You know you've made me the happiest husband, father, man in the world." Heer started to tear up at his response. "Don't cry Sweetheart," he soothed cupping her face and giving her another tender kiss. He felt her run her hands through his hair as they continued the affectionate gesture with their mouths. They broke apart the minute they heard the door open and looked down rather embarrassed.
"Oops, sorry didn't mean to interrupt," Ashley said. "Here's the ice pack. You can take it home."
"Um, thanks," Prem replied sheepishly as he placed the pack on the back of his head.
"See you guys later," Ashley said and quickly exited the room.
"Great another medical professional we've managed to scar," Heer said.
"Scar? Since when is kissing scarring?" Prem asked.
"Okay maybe not scar...but you know what I mean," Heer replied. "We've been caught twice...once by your doctor friend Vishal and his wife and now Ashley the P.A. Who's next?"
"Heh, the nursing staff on the maternity ward at the hospital when you deliver," Prem smirked.
Heer rolled her eyes at his comment and then timidly asked, "Can we go get some ice cream?"
"Of course," Prem replied as he helped her off the examination table. "You're not going to cry if they run out of rocky road are you?" Heer puckered her lips in mock anger and gently elbowed him while he laughed. "No," she huffed. "Just checking. I hate to see...no I take that back...it would be very amusing to see what they would do if they ran out of one of your favorite flavors...how do you pacify a crying pregnant woman who wants her ice cream?"
"I don't know but I'm sure you'll become an expert soon enough," Heer teased back as they exited the room.
Prem placed his arm around her shoulder and gave her an affection kiss on the cheek, "Sweetheart, you know with this pregnancy living with you is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."
"That is a horrible joke, Prem," Heer replied cringing.
"It's a Forrest Gump reference," Prem defended as they walked out of the clinic.
"I know what you're referencing to but that was just bad," Heer said.
"Either way it's been adventurous and the thing is our kids aren't even out yet," Prem replied. "Just imagine how it will be when they arrive."
"And your point is?" Heer asked.
"I'm enjoying every minute of it. We're building a family and our life together," he simply stated.
"We are," Heer smiled and gave him a tender kiss. Prem gently held her waist as they enjoyed the contact and the feeling of their lips dancing against each other. They were lost in their own world again savoring the emotions of the momentous event, their immense love for one another, and the tiny lives they had created together. It wasn't until they heard the honking of a car horn did they realize they had been kissing in the middle of the parking lot. They pulled away embarrassed for the second time that day and quickly headed to the car to go get some ice cream.
