Unfortunately in the Indian subcontinent the tendency is to handover everything to the son rather than the daughter. I guess even DP has the same tendency. Plus I guess he also wanted to make amends for his misdeeds...hence the donation to an orphanage(he had made his son an orphan despite being alive due to his actions) and the person whom he wronged the most. I also think the daughter isnt really in dire straits and prolly he has taken care of her finances.
