The heights of pretension

I guess I should have expected this from SS, but sometimes his commitment to pretension and phony behavior make me laugh. Today's episode had us witness yet another display of convenience to its fullest. It wasn't so much SS' family as it was him. Sajjan Singh is nothing if not calculating, cold and opportunist. He didn't bother going inside Shyamji's house when it suited him. He didn't care about the fact that he attempted to kill Prats a few times and that she and her father had their faces darkened with coal not too long ago. Now that he knows who Arushi's future FIL is, and therefore connected to him through marriage, SS sees his big chance to get himself off and runs with it.

At least Shakti doesn't bother smiling when he is introduced. But SS has to go around parading the fact that his son is married to a Saxena, a fact that he is ashamed of most of the time and trying to change. He is always mocking the pariliki people and their life, and now he is sucking up to some other pariliki people because it is now necessary for him.

It reminds me of when he dedicated the local school to Prats, someone he constantly mocks, someone he despises for who she is, and later tries to electrocute, but when it came to the elections, it was important to show how committed he was to the community and that he was more than just a big city thug.

Ahh SS, how you make me laugh with your grand gestures and doublefaced ways. 😆😆 Seriously though, he is one of the most amusing characters on television today.
