Ok so TaSha had a mini run-in over the 'baap' ka mamla which we all loved for the flirting Tasha indulged in. But my question is should Naku force Dutta to forgive his father? Is she right in expecting him to? Are Ganpat and Damodar even comparable? Ganpat however he is did live with his family and brought up his kids(helped Naku when she fell down as she put it but DP was never there to do the same with Dutta). Whereas Damodar sold off Dutta and ran away at the first hint of trouble. Ganpat loves his daru but even now he is stealing from his super rich SIL for his son. Its ethically wrong but not a big crime like Damodar who was responsible for killing his brother which had a cascading effect on his son and his brother's family.
Shouldnt Damodar first do something to prove that he deserves Dutta's forgiveness and respect as a father and an elder of the family rather than expect Dutta and his brother's family to forgive him simply becuz he is dying. I dont want to be rude...but if he dying and repents his actions so what? He could have come back many years ago when Dutta and his brother's family needed him the most. Or he could have stayed on after his brother died and looked after his son and his brother's family...he did none of theose. If you compare him to Ganpat he reluctantly stuck to Naku even when she was in deep trouble. When Kala turned Naku out of the house post wedding...Ganpat had a fight with Babi and walked off with Sethji but he returns to Babi and Naku of his own accord with Sethji and was ready to move on with his family including Naku. Has Damodar ever done atleast something like that with Dutta?

I think more is to unfold regarding the past from Damodar's POV. He may not be as guilty as we think. My guess is he might have returned to repent and take up his and AS family's responsiblities but other events may have happened. Dutta might remember those events later.
If you recall DP had said to Dutta that I have returned to make you remember things you have forgotten.

Hmm...lets see! But Naku told the whole story in front of Damodar and he kept quiet...meaning he agreed that what she is saying is true. So given what we know so far is the only truth is Naku's expectation from Dutta justified?

Naku is forcing Dutta to forgive his father bec she sees that D is shattered with this whole thing and only if he removes the hatred for his father would D's life be at peace. She is more likely forcing him for his own good.... he needs to over come the past.... what is he going to get holding on to it... just my pov... life needs to move on...... and seeing D's character he needs to get over his past then be it his father, seema or sup..... the hatred should go which would automatically bring in forgiveness...

Well lets not forget that DP had told her that he does not have time and she witnessed AS saying to DP that I am glad to see you repenting in your last days and if Bappa wants your son will forgive you before your last breath. Also Nakku knows that Dutta is unable to forget DP and needs some kind of closure to move on. She may be insisting to give Dutta closure.

@Rama, Ruby: U guys have a point...Naku wants Dutta to forgive so that he doesnt hold on to the past and moves on in life without any bitterness. But then I agree with what Dutta said...respect should come from the heart. For someone like Dutta to forgive and move on Damodar must first win his respect.

I think Naku's asking him to forgive his father only to ease the turmoil inside him and find some peace.....that is why the saying goes...forgive and forget.....the more he holds on to his anger and hatred for his father, the more volatile he'll be.....that said, it's easier said than done if we look at it from Dutta's perspective to see his father revealed to be this kind of man and what all he did. On top of that, Kala leaves no chance to keep on prodding at that wound in his heart......Naku on her part is trying to heal him.....and to her, forgiving his father is part of that healing process to bring him some peace of mind.

But ironically Dutta has gone the other route and is now giving so much respect to Ganpat....calling him "kaka" and all taking the responsibility of trying to sudharo him.....he's doing it all for Nakku.....cuz of the way she told him she still respects her father......he might be trying to compensate also....she's asking him to forgive his own father but instead he seems to have forgiven HER father and is trying to be nice to him.....hahaha

No matter how low Ganpat is, somewhere I have respect for him.. This may sound odd but Naku isn't his own daughter.. I have seen in real life where men don't accept their partners children from first marriage and the mother leaves her child.
Although Ganpat hasn't done anything which makes anyone proud, he did a big thing for Naku just by being her father.

About Damoder.. He is the worst example of a father.. some are worse but he sold his son.. A son who at that time needed his father's stability and support.
Dutta 's mother was no more, so all he had was him father.. At that time AS could have let him rot or forsaken him? I mean his father killed her husband and robbed her children of their father so why not throw Dutta out too??
Just because he has cancer does not mean he should be forgiven..

Having said that It is not a crime to make a mistake?? We are humans we all make mistakes and YES Damoder made a huge, irreversible and life-changing mistake.
It is a crime to make a mistake and not learn from it, therefore if Damoder is genuinely sorry then Dutta should forgive him.

People can forgive.. but its sometimes impossible to forget.. Naku shouldn't force Dutta to make any decisions.. It should come naturally to Dutta without pressure of thinking his father is dying whether he deserves his forgiveness or not..

Forgiveness, like Love, must be unconditional. You can forgive people you will never respect.
Hatred is self-destructive. It is in Dutta's own interest to forgive his father. But forgiveness, I mean stop hating him, and not feel any anger every time his name is mentioned, and from thought that he is DP's son.
