the other day I tried to type G-R-O-W-T-H

and it ended up looking groW*H

i see the whole idea is to ban expletives...but this looks weird

IMO this whole asterisking business is rather juvenile. Earlier, DEV team on here were against members speaking their mind without using profanties. Now, they have a problem with letters strung together that resemble a profantiy? Seriously, people on here don't even use profanties that often. The idea to asterisk out some letters of what isn't even an abusive word is lame and annoying. Can't imagine how the DEV team here assessed that it would be better for the upgroW*H of IF if words were moderated. Moreover, it is useless! Asterisking T in W*F doesn't mean jack.

Lol, I know. I was typing a word that had W-T-H together, and that asterik came in between. It was, uhm, lame. I mean, what's the use of that asterik if people can easily get what the word means? Isn't it pointless?

and yes, this is a problem if a word has the letters w-t-h in them...looks really weird!

u knw i wasnt even thinking of W-T-H when i typed G-R-O-W-T-H..

but when the asterisk turned up..i truly thought of the swear word!

GroW*H? What's up with that?

And geeeee! what is wrong with "W-T-H"? as far as i know....it's not considered a "bad" word....infact the word "DAMN" that seems to be on the mouth of every indian telly lead and bollywood actor is far worse than "W-T-H"! that's why there's something called "Darn" or "Dang"

oh my gosh like seriously! they're going to block "What the **heck**?"😳

You know, now I feel like choosing words that have profane words in them just to see if the stupid autocorrection catches it. :P

On a more constructive note, can't this be like an optional thing that members could choose to switch on or off?

I agree, this is kind of annoying. I mean w-t-h isn't even considered a profanity anywhere..and plus, there's tons of words with w-t-h.
