Chapter 8:
Hearing the alarm clock go off, Geet groaned as she opened her eyes lazily, and reached over to shut it off. Still in a daze, she merely glanced around the room once before falling back into bed, and pulling the covers over her head.
The Bed?! What was she doing there?
Becoming alert all of a sudden, she sprang up and looked around wide-eyed. She had slept on the couch the night before! How could she have possibly gotten on the bed?
*Flashback to the Previous Night*
Furious at his actions, she went and pounded on the bathroom door, "Mr. Maan Singh Khurana, that was completely unnecessary and you know it! I'm going to get you back for this. Don't think you're going to get away so easily. GRR" she screamed in exasperation, as she quickly began to plot her revenge.
Maan just leaned back on the door at the other side, What had he just done?!
Meanwhile, Geet stood outside the room gaping at what had taken place. She would kill him! Just wait until he gets outside.
Inside, Maan knew he couldn't escape her forever, he had to step out of the bathroom at one point in his life. And praying that she wouldn't stab him to death, he slowly pushed the door open, and strode out, quite unnerved by the woman standing in front of him, her eyes red with fury and her hands on her hips. Why was she affecting him so much? Of all people, a woman?! And that too, Geet?!
She marched right up to him, stabbing her little finger on his chest as she through a whole slew of curses at him. But he wasn't able to concentrate too much. Her eyes captured his attention, their expressiveness affecting him, as he became completely drowned in her. But he had to get her to shut up, but how?
Her lips moving caught his attention, those luscious lips, and before he knew it, he grabbed her by the waist, pulling her towards himself, as he pressed his lips on hers. She had lost her sense of mind completely, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled him closer to herself, pressing her body against his.
His hands were doing wonders to her back, as they softly ran along it, pulling away at one of the two tiny doris that was holding her blouse in place. She buried her hands in his hair, a slight moan escaping from her lips as she lost herself in her husband's touch.
Maan had slowly pulled his mouth away from hers, choosing to trail down a series of kisses down her neck, as he slowly pushed the blouse off of one shoulder, giving him access to her to the crook of her neck. As his hands began to pull on the second dori, he softly bit her shoulder.
And that had brought her back to reality. Immediately, she had pushed him away, a faint red appearing on her cheeks as she realized what had just happened between them. Maan was shocked too, and he stood there, frozen in place, while Geet quickly hurried into the bathroom, trying to catch her breath and come back to a normal state after what had just happened.
Phew! If she hadn't stopped that then, they both would have probably never stopped.
Composing herself, she slowly made her way out of the bathroom to find Maan asleep on the bed, and she stood there, staring at him, in his black sleeveless tanktop, his muscles literally bulging, and on his face a small smile. He sure was a handsome man, and he was her husband. Oh wait! What are you thinking Geet? He's the idiot that forced you to marry him.
And with those thoughts, she had made her way to the couch, using her dupatta as a blanket and had nodded off to sleep.
End of Flashback:
Wait, so how did I get in the bed last night? She thought to herself, but right then, she felt herself being pulled over, someone's arms around her waist, MAAN!
"You...How did I get here?" she questioned angrily, trying to get out of his grasp, but his eyes remained closed while his grip on her waist tightened.
Before she could continue though, she heard screaming.
"Although we would love to leave you alone to spend all the time in the world in your husband's arms, GEET GET UP!" screamed Kripa and Riddhima, as they banged on the door. Geet froze inside, How did they know she was in his arms?
OH WAIT.
Last night was supposed to be our wedding night. As Geet saw a smirk playing on his lips, realization dawned on her and she jumped out of his arms, pushing him away with all her might. Grabbing her dupatta and adjusting it on herself properly, she made her way to the door, and opened it only slightly, peering through the tiny space to see the refreshed, grinning faces of her two friends, but their eyes weren't on her face, rather on her neck.
She snapped her fingers in their faces. "Guys! I'm up here! What are you looking at?" she asked, one eyebrow up.
Riddhima snickered as she pointed to the crook between Geet's neck and her shoulder, "Make sure you cover that up before coming downstairs. But if you need help, Kripa Ma'am can help you out with that. She has experience"
Kripa slapped Riddhima in the shoulder, before turning back towards Geet and telling her to call her upstairs if she needs any help.
Need help? Need help with what? Geet nodded, confused, before she closed the door and made her way back into the bedroom, and stood in front of the mirror.
There in that little nook between her neck and shoulder was a slightly red bruise, that looked like nothing less than a love bite. Her eyes widened and she let out one loud scream. AHHH!
Swirling around she saw Maan, sitting up on the bed, and before she could lash out at him, he merely smirked, "Geet, I would ask Kripa for herself to cover that up. You shouldn't be embarrassed about this, I mean, we are husband and wife, and well it is expected. But because you look like you're ready to cry, I would do something about that. It's ginormous"
Geet shut her mouth, No point in arguing with this idiot. "Stupid, duffer, idiot, jerk, Why did I marry him" she muttered to herself, as she went inside the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.

Soon after, Geet had gone downstairs and the women spent their time in the kitchen, making breakfast, while the men were being the usual lazy bums, hanging around in front of the TV.
"Suniye ji"
Maan turned around, his mouth dropping at the sight in front of him. There stood Geet, clad in a dark red sari, her hands filled with red and white bangles, a pinch of sindoor in her parting, and her mangalsutr dangling proudly from her neck. She looked every bit her part of a married woman. Well duh, they were married, how else would she look?
"Suniye JI?" he questioned, a look of surprise on his face.
"Kya, should...should I call you something else?" Geet questioned sweetly, biting her lip to control her laughter.
"Well...you usually call me Kha-...Oh wait, nope, Suniye JI is just fine" Maan answered. Ha! He was not going to announce to his friends that his wife called him Mr. Khadoos. How utterly embarrassing!
"Kya..um..What did you need Geet?" Maan questioned, bringing himself back to the present.
"Woh...Woh breakfast is ready. I wanted to let you know" she replied shyly, a blush appearing on her cheeks as she looked downwards.
Maan's eyes literally popped out. What in the name of heaven was going on? Geet and a SHY Bride? WOAH! Something was wrong with this picture. Somethig was very very very wrong.
Armaan and Angad got up almost instantaneously and made their way out of the living room, leaving Geet, who was just about to turn and leave, when Maan grabbed her by the elbow, and pulled her back. "What's going on? Why are you being so nice? This is definitely not you" Maan whispered furiously into her ear.
Geet looked up at him, her eyes filled with mirth, as she fluttered her eyelashes, and answered, "I'm being the achi bahu of the Khurana parivaar. Anything wrong Patidev JI?"
And with that, she turned around, strutting away towards the dining room, leaving Maan trying to figure out what was happening to his one day old wife.
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Maan was seated at the head of the dining table, Angad, Kripa, Riddhima, Armaan, and Dadi seated elsewhere around it, as Geet came outside of the kitchen, holding a tray filled with small bowls.
"Hmm..more food" exclaimed Angad.
"Yeah, I know...And to think that all of this was made by Geet alone" added Armaan, referring to the billion and one serving bowls on the dining table, where Geet had made alu parathas, omelettes, pancakes, and more for the entire family.
"Sigh, I know. Kripa, why can't you cook like Geet? Then I would actually not have to starve at the office" smirked Angad. A scowl came over Kripa's face, "If I could kill you Angad Khanna and get away scot-free, I would do so in a heartbeat."
"Well, I have some wonderful friends who would track youu down too" laughed Angad.
But by then, Geet had started passing around the little bowls filled with halwa. Placing one in front of each person, she finally took a bowl for herself, and Maan and made her way to the empty seat next to her husband.
"Suniye JI, I hope you like this" she smiled shyly, placing the bowl of halwa in front of him.
He looked at her suspiciously, AHA! He knew what she was doingg!
Just as she was about to dig in to her halwa, he stopped her, "Geet! We have to feed each other right? Dadi, isn't there some tradition that the husband and wife have to feed each other?" asked Maan. Yes! He wasn't going to let her get the better of him! He would beat her at her own game!
Dadi hit herself on the forehead, "Uffo! I'm getting old Maan puttar. Of course. i don't know how I forgot. And these two buddhus, Kripa and Riddhima, didn't remind me either. Yes yes, you both should feed each other the sweet."
"But Dadi..I..um.." Geet began, only to be met by a shaking head and a disapproving look from Dadi.
Sighing, she looked up at Maan, who was ready with his spoonful to feed Geet, a wide grin on his face. "Come on Geet, open your mouth" he prompted and she reluctantly obeyed.
However, Maan was definitely shocked to see her swallowing the sweet completely! As if nothing had happened at all! He was sure she was up to some trick, but she didn't even flinch after eating the halwa. Instead, she munched away happily, demanding for more.
"Geet, you have to feed him too you know" smiled Armaan. And Geet smiled widely, as she held out her spoonful of halwa for her husband, who suspiciously took that bite.
Steam seemed to erupt from his ears, as his eyes nearly popped out! It was SO SPICY! Darting a glare at Geet, he grabbed the glass of water in front of him, and gulped it all down. She must have dumped an entire two spoons of red chili powder into ONLY that bowl of the halwa!
Geet meanwhile, sat happily in her seat, grinning like a chesire cat.
Maan v Geet: 0 - 1.
