Round 2: Sukhwinder Singh

Oscar winning song. mammoth expectations, eh?

Lets go straight into it, this cannot be called as ARR's best compositions. Frankly, I question the oscar selection committee's choice of song and all the hype and hoopla that surrounds it.

First, the plusses. This is an energetic track. And sukhwinder is in his usual best. Immense control of voice at high notes with perfect tonal quality, helped by decent voice larity. The sale variation is another plus. low-high-higher-medium-high-higher-low-medium is a great thing. And sukhwinder sings with elan, especially towards the middle portions where his lines are sung in one breath without any loss of sur.

But, the good news ends there. This track somehow is not of that variety that would connect with the audience for a long time. Its just a short term hit, but forgettable after some time. not something which you want to hum after listening to it. Another drawback is the tune itslf. this is not what ARR is known for. he is known for innovation, but unfortunately there is a mishmash of various tunes into one and often looks forced, maybe also dated and nothing new to offer worthy of an oscar (no offense meant to ARR fans whatsoever).

The song comes and goes, but this cannot be called as really the best. Not worth the hype that it was created for that time.

the most popular track of 2008

i love the song realyy the beats of the song was awesome once but i really like the ENGLISH one more then this one
the song is awesome but singing of the Sukhi is not more seen
the music of AAR is awesome

this is his zonal type of song and he did justice to it a lot more but some parts its not that good i must say

This song is famous basically because of its energetic composition.. :)

Music is over-powering, it doesn't give much scope for shining through singing.. Still, Sukhwinder has lived to it.. Power-packed singing as expected from him.. The fast pace and maintenance of clarity are the high-lights for me here.. Expressions; portrayed according to the song.. Somewhere, I feel its not a bang on performance, something was missing, basically because the singing gets lost somewhere in the song, the music is too crowded along with a big portion of the song dedicated to ARR and the chorus.. So, overall, Sukhwinder's impact gets lost..

Would have given it a 7.5, but since its not there, so will have to be stricter by giving 7 out of 10..

Don't know why everyone is hating on the song. It's a great song and one of ARR's best in my opinion.


And Sukhwinder Singh does full justice to it. Right from the start,
Aaja, aaja jind shamiyane ke tale

Sukhwinder does a good up building this line and finishing it with a soft sublte touch. And then the energy he brings in the "Jai Ho" sequence is also commendable.

Granted there were not that many difficult parts to it, but Sukhwinder's singing was pretty much flawless as he does full justice to a great song.

although the Asthaai of the song is really great...
But the Antara is not very good...
