NIHIRA - A Complete Profile

NIHIRA JOSHI has proved herself "A Child Prodigy" in the world of music. Nihira started learning classical vocal when she was in 4^th standard from Mrs.Vidya Jail. She concentrated on music along with her education and in a short span, won various laurels in classical vocal such as Pt.Paluskar Award, Swar Sadhana Award, Seva Bharati and Indian Cultural League Award etc.

Nihira came into light when she was selected as a "Singer" by Padmashri Kalyanjibhai for India's most famous musical entertainment show "Little Wonders." She was the lead singer of the show. She has been trained thoroughly by Kalyanjibhai for light classical music. She also learns written and spoken Urdu from Prof.M.H.Parkar, which helps her in improving her pronunciations of Hindi/Urdu words while singing. She had opportunities to perform live classical vocal in All India Bal-Sangeet Sammelan organised by Swar Sadhana Samittee and Swar-Lahiri separately.

So far Nihira has given more than 400 live performances (including 200 shows of Little Wonders) in India and abroad, as also with Shaan and Shankar Mahadevan. Also performed live in Star Studded shows with Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Khanna, Rani Mukherjee, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and many more.

TV Performances:

1. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa won 6 episodes and lost in 7^th. Also participated in Popular Choice of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and their New Year Special Programme in 2003.

1. Winner of Aadab Arz Hai, a Gazal competition anchored by Pankaj Udhas (1997).

1. Was selected for Best of the Best Award of EL Channel in Mast Mast Show by Shaan (1997).

1. Was Mega Final Winner of Aao Jhoomein Gaayen on SAB TV, a programme anchored and produced by Annu Kapoor (2001).

Other achievements:

1. Various sequence songs in Kasam Se, Kasauti Jindagi Ki, Kutumb, Kusum, Kya Hadsa Kya Haquigat, Sara Akash etc. various serials produced and aired by Balaji Telefilms on various channels.

1. Title Song of Marathi serial "Saripat Ha Sansaracha" on Sahyadri and a new serial being aired on DD-1.

1. Complete background vocals for serials like Kusum, Kumkum, Kahani Teri Meri, Kavyanjali and Bollywood movies like Jina Sirf Tere Liya, Rishtey, Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahi Dekha Hai, Hum Jo Na Kah Payen (Forthcoming), Raghu Romio, Bewafa, Lucky and many more.

1. Playback in Hindi Movie Pran Jaye Per Shaan Na Jaye by Mahesh Manjarekar; BUNTY AUR BABLI (SONG DHADAK DHADAK with Udit Narain/Sunidhi Chauhan-Music Shankar Ehsaan Loy) –

Nihira was 3 years junior to my sister in school. For the 10 std send-off function organised by the school (for my sister's batch), Nihira had sung a farewell song 😊

Just thought I would mention since we will have lots of Nihira fans coming here.

Well, not me, my sister! And she does not know her personally as such, but the way you know about the talented ones in school. I remember that time also, she would always say that there is Nihira Joshi in our school who sings great 😊😊
