Part 30:

Its morning and geet wakes up just then. As she walks towards the kitchen to make herself coffee still sleepy, she hears a voice …

Maan: aaj tumhe kuch karne ki zaroorat nahi hai … tumhare liye hot chocolate main bana raha hoon….

Still with half eyes closed Geet looks at smile, smiling to herself at all the sweet things he does for her …

Geet: haan .. aur usme cheeni 4 spoon daalna …

Maan: chaar spoon????

Geet: haan … mujhe meethi coffee pasand hai she says …. Aap jaisi boring nahi hoon main .. aur fir main pregnant hoon… pregnancy ke time pe aisi craving allowed hai ….

Maan: baap re … aur jab shaadi ke baad humare khud baccha hoga …mujhe fir se ye sab…. ( he stops half way as he realizes his slip of tongue)

Geet stares at him in shock… and in that moment, everything comes back to her … the earlier day … the way she had fought .. all the things that sameera had said …she goes quiet … and she looks away…

Maan walks towards her with two mugs of milk and settles down next to her … and hands over hers …

Maan: (taking Geets hand in his) I am sorry geet … mere kehne ka ….

Geet: its okay sir … maine kuch nahi kaha ( dryly)

Maan can sense she had taken offence to what he had said … and he also knows he had planned this morning breakfast thingie for her to make up for yesterday ….

Geet slowly slips her hand out of his and pretends to read the news paper ….. maan looks at her, but she looks from the side and pretends not to notice …. Maan pulls the paper away from her … she stares angrily at him… He turns the paper straight and gives it back to her ….

Maan: jab khatam ho jaye mujhe bata dena … main yahin hoon …

Geet: mujhe poora din lag sakta hai she says ( the effect of her melting slowly beginning to show)

Maan: koi baat nahi ….

Geet: aur fir main nahane jaungi …..

Maan: shauk se jaana ….

Geet: aur fir …..

Maan: tumhare kapde maine already washing machine main daal diye hai …. Toh tumhe kapde dhone nahi padhenge .. aur waise bhi madam, koi nahane ke baad kapde dhota hai kya ?

Geet: ( making faces) haan … aisi hi hoon main … aapko koi problem hai ?

Maan: nahi … bilkul nahi ,... tumhe jo karna hai … jaise karna hai … waise hi karo … main kahan mana kar raha hoon?

Geet: dekha .. dekha … issi wajah se … ( she shuts up and tries to get up and walk away as he holds her hand and stops her)

Maan: issi wajah se kya Geet….

Geet: mera haath chodiye … mujhe jaana hai ….

Maan: pehle batake jaao tum kya bolne waali thi ….

Geet: main aapse kuch nahi bol rahi thi … Maan sir … please ….

Maan stands up right behind her .. she can sense his proximity … she steels herself … closer her eyes … and says ….

Geet: dekhiye aap baar baar aise mere kareeb mat aaya keejiye ….mujhe accha nahi lagta ….

Maan is silent and Geet is surprised there is no reaction from Maan …. She turns around to look and he is busy fiddling with his mobile as though not paying attention to her …. She makes a face … but is embarrassed …. And she walks away as Maan says ….

Maan: kyun geet …. Ladna kyun chahti ho mujhse …. Maine aise kya kar dia hai …

Geet has no answer … Maan stands up … goes closer to her as she tries moving away as he looks at her questioningly … ( mahi plays as they get lost in each others eyes for a few moments) …

Maan is about to hold Geet's face in his hands, but moves away on remembering what she had just said and says … " theek hai … main tumhe haath nahi lagaunga agar tumhe pasand na ho toh … main aisa koi bhi kaam nahi karoonga jo tumhe pasand na ho …."

Geet: (visibly annoyed) yehi toh problem hai …. Aap har cheez mere pasand se karna chahte hai … kabhi bhi kisi baat ko mana nahi karte hai … har waqt mujhe khush karne ki koshish karte hai ….

Maan: haan Geet … kyunki main tumse pyar karta hoon … tum agar nahi chahti ke main yeh karoon… toh?

Geet: bas sir …. Aap apne bare main kyun nahi sochte …. Har waqt mere bare main hi kyun sochte rehte hai ….

Maan: to hiss main burayi kya hai Geet ( amused)

Geet: burayi ??? aap burayi nahi dekh paa rahe hai iss main …. Issey yehi saabit hota hai na …. Ke … aap mujhse itna pyar nahi karte hai jitna ke aap ….

Maan: geet!!! ( angry stare)

Maan: agar yeh mazaak tha … toh fir mere saath aisa mazaak fir kabhi mat karna …fir kabhi mat kehna ke main tumse pyar nahi karta ….

He violently grips her by her shoulders and looks into her eyes .. with anger speaking right through them ….

Maan: tum ye sab kya aur kyun bol rahi ho, main sab samajh raha hoon … ( mellowing his tone down now looking at her softly and loosening his grip over her … he talks more gently ) …. Please Geet … mere saath aisa mat karo … bahut pyar karta hoon main tumse … tumse zyada maine aaj tak kisi se pyar nahi kiya hai … agar yeh insecurity hai .. to hiss ehsaas ko apne andar se door kardo …. Aur agar kisine ( he doesn't take Sameera's name) tumse kuch kaha hai … toh tumhara mujhpe haq banta hai ke tum mere paas aake mujhse directly sawaal karo … mujhse ye kaho ke main tumhare siva kisi aur ko pyar nahi kar sakta … kyun ki yehi sach hai … samjhi tum ?

Geet nods … as a tear trickles down ….

Maan: main jaanta hoon… iss sab musibat ki jab kya hai …. Aur main yeh bhi jaanta hoon mujhe ab aagey kya karna hai ….

Geet: kisi aur ko blame karne se pehle aapne kabhi yeh socha hai … ke mujhe pe kya beet rahi hogi …

Maan: wahi toh main tumhe poochne ki koshish kar raha hoon geet … mujhse baat karo …. Apne aap se nahi ….

Geet: Sameera aapse aise kyun bol rahi thi ke aap mere saath samjhauta kar rahey hai ? uske saath aap bilkul alag they? Kya maine aapko itna badal dia hai ???

Maan: (sensing now that Sameera could have said all this to him as well) tum abhi chalo mere saath , main abhi sameera ko bata dena chahta hoon ke agar mere zindagi main koi mayne rakhta hai toh who tum ho Geet .. aur issey saabit karne ke liye mujhe kay karna padega tum batao …

Geet: (guilty) mera wo matlab nahi tha .. mujhse aap pe poora bharosa hai ( looking down embarrassed)

Maan: yeh baat tum sar utha kar mere aankhon main dekh kar bhi toh keh sakti ho na Geet ?

Geet looks up … without saying a word, runs into his arms and hugs him…..

Geet: I am sorry … pata nahi mujhe kya ho gaya tha ….

Maan: (in his mind) mujhe pata nahi tumhe kya ho gaya tha … aur main jaanta bhi hoon mujhe kya karna hai ….

Maan: geet … mujhe thoda sa kaam hai … main tumhe milta hoon … aur haan … zyada mat socha karo …

He kisses her on her cheek as she blushes red … and walks away from there … slowly parting his hands from hers …

Scene 2:

As he walks towards the hotel room Maan Singh Khurana has made up his mind … There were a lot of things he wanted to clear today .. there were a lot of things he wanted her to know….He was determined and really really angry… When geet;s face, her worries and insecurities came in front of him it infuriated him even more … he could take anything, but not things going wrong between geet and him …. And so he checks with the reception…. What Maan hears after this shocks him out of his wits as he rushes out of the place.

Scene 3:

Loads of Machines Beeping, Hospital:

Sameera is lying on the bed looking weak. Maan recognizes another familiar face. The man whom Sameera had told him was her husband. He was standing there . Maan doesn't say a thing but the guy takes the initiative to speak.

Guy: would have almost lost her today …..

Maan: kya hua usey ?

Guy: Tumor …of the uterus ….

Maan is shocked ….. " kya?" Suddenly he doesn't like this feeling. His heartf eels heavy. He had been angry with her and also mad at her …. But had never wished this to happen to her …. His hand go all cold…. his knees go weak … but he tries best to gather himself …. Telling himself everynow and then that it is all fine now … and that… he will do whatever it takes perhaps to save her … as a friend .. now was not the time to think of all that she did ….

Guy: haan … aur issi liye who tumse door chali gayi thi …. Aur humari shaadi …

Maan: nahi hui ( completes maan shaken) doctors ne kya …

Guy: she has a month at the most man ….

Maan: koi aur raasta nahi hai … jissey hum….

Guy: pichle do saal se hum isi koshish main lagey hai … par .. it's a very rare of a tumor ….

Maan is silent … just then the doctor comes out and says …. " could you please call Mr. Maan … the patient has been taking his name for quiet some time now …"

Maan nods saying .. he is the guy as he walks in…

Sameera looks tired and weak …. He could hardly believe that he had seen her a couple of hours back and she did have a trace of illness … and her loss of weight was something he had attributed to her diet and exercise regime … As he walks in she smiles ….

Sam: mujhe pata tha M .. ke tum mujhe milne zaroor aoge … par … I didn't want to you to see me in this state ….

Maan comes and settles next to her … on the bed …. He looks angry … as though trying hard to hide his tears ….

Sam: chill M … I am not dead …

Maan: shut up Sam…..

Sam: see … you still love me …( she says feebly)

He doesn't look in her eye ….

Sam: actually you don't … aur mujhe pata hai …

For the first time Maan looks into her eyes … as though he is grateful to her ….

Sam: thirty days M … you know what that feels like …. I just have 30 days that I can call of my own … aur uske baad …. Mere photo se bath karoge na? kam se kam apne wallet main meri ek photo toh rakhoge na?

Maan: Sam … I am sooo sorry ….mujhe pata nahi tha …

Sam: main chahti bhi nahi thi … ke tumhe pata chale M …lekin … yahan aane ke baad tumhare bare main jo maine dekha aur suna … I was worried for you … lekin ab nahi hoon ….

Maan: tumhe Geet pasand hai ?

Sam: naah ..not really … I am jealous you know …tum kehte the na .. mera dimaag theek se kaam nahi karta … dekho.. you were right … ( she has tears she is trying to fight badly as she says this)

Maan slowly wipes her tears off as he says …. " itni bhi dumb nahi thi tum … bas … tumahra dyan kabhi ek cheez pe nahi hota tha …"

Sam: yo lying … dekho .. ab achanak you have all this sympathy … I hate this … issi liye main chali gayi thi …mujhe laga jab theek ho jaungi .. waapis aaungi .. tumhare paas humesha ke liye … par I guess it wasn't meant to be….

Maan is totally awkward … emotional and caught in a turmoil….

Sam: M …. Tum geet se bahut pyar karte ho na?

Maan looks down … doesn't say anything ….

Sam: aur tum apni saari zindagi usi ke saath bitana chahte ho ?

Maan looks at her as she says all this ….

Sam: Main bhi yehi chahti thi M … main bhi tumhare saath apni saari life spend karna chahti thi … par dekho … lag gaya na speedbreaker ….

Maan: badi philosophical baatein karne lagi ho ….

Sam: kya karoon jaane ke time aa gaya hai na ….

Maan is silent again … he doesn't like the thought ….

Sam: M .. marne waaley ki har wish poori ki jaati hai right ? or something like that …

Maan suddenly sits up … his heart starts beating fast … this woman was going out of her way to make him realize she was to go …

Maan: haan marne waaley ki … tumhari nahi ….

Sam: same thing .. toh fir .. mujhe nahi poochoge meri kya aakhri wish hai ? pooch na ….

Maan: bolo ….

Sam: Marry me M …! ( she never looked more determined)

Maan is shocked.

Precap: how will Maan break this to Geet ? what will he decide ?

oh my god!! what a twist...i am sorry for sameera but i hate her for what she is doing...even though she knows that maan loves geet how can she ask him to marry?
