hey everyone!! thanks for all your comments :D 😃
after reading all of them i can see that you guys have gotten half of it somewhat right…. remember, its called "A Second Chance"…..
i'd just like to clarify - theres 2 parts to the prologue. in the first part, there were 3 different characters with no names (2 he's and a she). basically, each of the 3 paragraphs describes of one of the 3 characters' thoughts. so you were basically left to figure out who was who and what was happening. in this second part of the prologue, there are 3 more characters who have nothing to do with the characters from the first part. all of this is happening simultaneously on june 5, 2009.
the prologue might not make sense at first, but it all works out later on, i promise lol. the events in the prologue are what shape the characters later.
so hope you guys enjoy this part as well!!
Prologue: Part 2
June 5, 2009"I have that loser totally under my control," she chuckled, planting a kiss on his lips. "I think I'll tell him about my dream house on the beach. He'll totally get one for me. I mean us," she quickly corrected herself. The man pulled her closer to him and kissed her forehead.
He took a step back. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. She was in some one else's arm. And she looked happier that way. She was looking at this man the same way she looked at him, but with more passion in her eyes. She was kissing this man, but with more affection than she did with him. It killed him to know that this is what she was, that she had pretended, that she had lied, that she had betrayed him.
He continued to step backwards until his knees became weak. He leaned against the brick wall behind him for support. He tried not to let the tears that had formed in his eyes to escape, but they rolled down his cheeks when he closed his eyes. He didn't know what to do. He didn't know what he could do. He stood there in the shadows just crying. He stood there in the shadows of the wall, unnoticed by the couple that had betrayed him. He stood there listening to her talk to the man. He could hear her telling the man about her next plans to get them a house by the beach and maybe another car so he could have one too. He couldn't take it anymore. He had to be strong. He couldn't let her do this to him. He couldn't break down. He was strong, and he wasn't going to let one woman break that. Strengthening his knees, he pushed himself off the wall and put all his weight onto his legs. Taking a deep breath, he stepped out from his hiding place. He stood there, watching both of them, until she noticed him. Finally. The smile on her face instantly disappeared. She tried to push the man away from her as fast as possible and run to him. She smiled at him as if nothing had happened. It hurt him to know that she had used this exact smile to deceive him, and he had fallen for it every time. He didn't care that he spent so much money on her, but it killed him to know that she had cheated him. He had honestly thought she loved him, but he was wrong. He had given her his entire heart, but she hadn't given him anything in return, and it took him almost eight months to realize that. How could he have not known?
He started to walk away, pushing her as she tried to hold on to him. She pleaded with him. She tried to tell him that this was her close friend, in fact best friend. She tried to convince him that nothing was happening between them. She told him that she loved him, and him only. "Really?" he turned to her. She could see the pain in his eyes. At that moment she didn't feel so happy anymore. She felt horrible inside. She tried to call out to him, to atleast say she was sorry, but she couldn't. She fell to her knees as a single tear slipped out of her eye. He continued to walk away. He wouldn't look back at her, he wouldn't let her fool him again. He wouldn't let any woman fool him ever again.
