But Sheeba, it's so typical of Hindi serials--it's always the saintly girl who suffers silently, because apparently to suffer silently is a virtue and sign of strong character, on TV. And, the women, of course, love and stay with their husbands, no matter the ill-treatment, abuse, whatever and from whomever. Now where are the equally mahaan men?
I don't mean to make it a male-female issue, but this is one thing that irks me. If there is love between a man and woman, you stay with each other, it's a natural reaction. Even when things are not perfect and there is love, then you want to be there regardless of things. You're each other soul food.
But, you know, sometime some Hindi serials glorify the virtue of women silently taking it, because of LOVE. They call them dharmic, traditional, true women, whatever. I call it pandering.
In my mind, love can be a very transformational thing and it should be -- if it's not, well I do not know what to say. It's one of those few things in life, including friendships, that have the ability to constantly change you--you know, pull your emotional and intellectual strings. Sacrifice and suffering is a very limited definition of love, especially when it is one-sided.
Just my opinion. Sorry for the rant, dear!
