Similarly, he says that it is hard to make a remake of an original. "Making Ghajini was tough, as it was a remake of a Tamil movie," he says.
Aamir says that it is tough to recreate the same emotion that the original film has. "A remake can never meet the level of an original," asserts Aamir, adding that he was excited about the two movies that he remade.
Apart from Ghajini, his movie Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin was an adaptation of a Hollywood film It Happened One Night (1934).
"I worked in a remake of Ghajini. It was originally made in Tamil, which we remade in Hindi, but it was not an old film. In 1934, Hollywood director Frank Capra had made It Happened One Night. I read the script from collections of screenplays, and I liked it so much that we adapted it and remade Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin," said the actor.
He added that sequels were tough as well. When we asked him whether Andaz Apna Apna could be remade, he said, "When people watch the movie, they still enjoy it. The sequel would have to be twice as good. If something happens, then we'll work on it," he said, concluding, with his trademark smile, that if Raju Hirani had a better script than 3 Idiots, he'd work on the sequel.
