[B]Chapter 6
i was standing at our building's door, looking at him.. wishing that he would stop waiting, turn around and leave, but before i finished that wish, he looked at my direction, had this big smile on his face and now he is literally running towards me, i quickly looked down, hiding my red face
"you finally came" he said breathless, his voice was near, i just nodded "Geet" he sounds like he finally caught his breath "i was waiting for you.. to tell you something"
i started preparing myself for another "i love you" sentence, or maybe he would say "i adore you" and that "i couldnt sleep last night thinking of you"
"i am sorry" i quickly looked up at him as he apologized "i dont know what happened last night that i told you that i loved you" he smiled "i freaked you out, didnt i?"
"haan" i was still looking at him in disbelief
"i'm sorry for that" he paused looking at me, probably trying to make me relaxed but i wanted to hear more "i want us to start the right way.. just forget about last night and.."
"forget it?" i interrupted him
he sighed "i know it's hard to forget such thing, but that's the only way to be able to move on to.. the start"
"backwards?"
"yea" he smiled "we should start at the first step.."
"what's that?"
"friendship"
"oh" i looked down again, thinking about his option.. should i forget last night and start being his friend? does that mean i will have to stop watching him? that made me frown
"you dont like the idea?" he probably noticed my face
i looked at him "i'm not sure"
"well.." he looked really disappointed "you can think about it.."
i sighed "it's not fair to you"
"how's that?"
"are you going to wait forever for me?" why did i ask that question? i bit my lip and looked away
he was smiling "yes" he sounded so honest that woke up the butterflies in my stomach and made them fly around again
i shrugged, still looking away, i dont want him to see the effect he got me "i guess friendship is fine"
"are you sure?"
i nodded "ye, im sure" i smiled at him
his smile got bigger, and i almost gasped as i saw those two deep dimples, he cleared his throat then reached his hand for me "hello, im Maan Singh Khurana"
i giggled "im Geet Handa" i shook his hand, some kind of electricity went through me.. it made me hold his hand tighter, i know he felt it cause he's holding my hand as tight as i was, i looked down at our hands.. we stopped shaking them, just holding each other.. my heart was beating fast as i saw he was getting closer to me, still holding my hand.. i couldnt move, he is so close now, he leaned down and softly kissed my forehead, for what seemed like ever, i closed my eyes feeling his lips.. how he moved back, not too far cause his lips kissed my forehead again, i bit my lip letting go of his hand, i dont know how i let my hand reach his waist, hold his shirt and just stop.. he sighed, not moving away from me, his hands slided down and rested on my waist, he intertwined his fingers to lock me in his arms.. i stepped closer to him, slowly resting my forehead on his chest, i could hear his heart pounding, it made me smile to know that i also have the same effect he has on me "Maan" i whispered
he kissed my head "nice way to start our friendship"
i giggled "yeah.."
we stood like that for a while "can i have your number?" i nodded, slowly moving back but he tighten his arms around me "not now Geet"
i smiled, then slowly put my arms around his waist, and just hugged him, it felt so good.. it felt so safe.. "is this normal for friends?"
he chuckled "perfectly normal"
i grinned, then moved back and looked up at him, he still locked me in his arms "im not supposed to be late.."
he sighed, nodding "ok.." kissed my forehead, for a moment "you can give me your number now" he winked at me
i smiled, gave him my number.. he saved it on his mobile then gave me a missed call, i said goodbye but he corrected me, so i said kalvida as he did the same.. i walked back to our apartment, barely walking.. i was still in the ninth cloud.. floating with my dreams that he left me with, when i opened the door, i still had this dreamy smile on my face, i looked ahead to see them all looking at me, i straighted up "hello" i said and walked towards the room, they were setting the table so it meant, i dont have much time in my room to dream. i locked my door and ran towards my bed, grabbed my mobile and had this silly smile on my face, i saved his number humming a song called Bubbly.. then i stopped humming, my eyes popped out when i looked at the name i saved his number with "Love? what the hell Geet!" i shook my head as i erased the name and wrote "Maan" i giggled as i said the name, then i heard knocks on my door
"Geet"
it was Amit "ji"
"lunch is on the table"
"i'm coming" i put my mobile away and ran to open the door
Amit was still standing "what happened?" he whispered
"not now, later!" i grinned at him
he sighed "chalo" we both walked towards the table, we started eating and i noticed mom was looking at me then at Amit in a not very good way. i thought that he probably told her cause the look on her face told me that she is irritated
"well, i have to go" Ela said after we finished cleaning the dishes
i looked at her, i was hoping she would stay to save me from mom's questions "arent you going to watch a movie with me?"
"no yaar, i have to go to the mall.. with my sister"
i so knew she was lying "sister ha? whatever" i sighed walking towards the main door
"bye aunty, bye Amit" she waved at them then came towards me "bye missy"
"say hi to Javed" i raised an eyebrow at her
she giggled as i closed the door behind her, i looked back to see mom looking at me, folding her arms to her chest "is anyone of you going to start talking?"
"about?" Amit was looking at a magazine
"whatever is wrong with Geet" she almost yelled
"nothing is wrong with me ma"
"really? then am i blind? or dont i know my daughter very well"
"ma" i sighed walking towards her "nothing is wrong ok? you gotta believe me"
"i cant, your eyes say so much"
"Geet, wear glasses next time and save us the argument" Amit looked at us smiling
i giggled, but mom was getting more angry "you think you can take her away from me.. you're wrong"
"kya?" Amit got up and walked towards ma "Shublee, did you drink something?"
"NO" she shouted "she is my daughter, i demand to know your secret with her"
"there is no secret ma!" i hate how she shouts and makes a Bollywood drama out of nothing
"talking in your room? whispering when i arrive? that's nothing!" she looked at me angrily
"cant you wait until your birthday?" Amit looked at her annoyed
i knew what he was doing, trying to hide what we really been talking about by blowing up his plan "Amit, dont even dare" i said clinging my teeth at him
"what? what's for my birthday?" now mom is curious
"Amit dont say a word!" i threatened, he looked at me as if saying its ok but i was furious "GREAT!" i shouted and left towards my room
"Geet" he shouted following
i was in tears "just go tell her, ruin everything" i slammed the door back at his face
"tell me what?" mom shouted coming towards us
i sat on my bed and started crying, i feel guilty now, he shouldnt do that for me, he planned everything and worked hard to surprise mom by proposing to her, i didnt want him to ruin it at all "let me talk to her Shublee ok?"
"Geet are you ok?" she was at the door
"go away" i shouted lying down
"can you please go to our room sweetheart?"
"im worried Amit"
"dont, i will talk to her ok?" few moments passed, when he opened the door "Geet"
"i said go away" i gave him my back
he closed the door and came to sit on the bed "i thought your mother was more dramatic than you are"
"i hate to see you guys fight" i explained "i hate to know that you are ruining everything for me"
"im not, i wasnt planning on telling her anything" he whispered putting his hand on my shoulder "you didnt let me talk!"
i sniffed looking back at him "you werent going to tell?"
"no" he smiled rubbing my shoulder
"oh" i feel stupid now, just like ma, drama queen
he giggled "what happened with him?"
i smiled wiping my tears "he wants to be my friend"
"one point for him"
i giggled "he apologized for freaking me out last night" i bit my lip, looking at Amit and how shocked he was, i realized that i never told him what happened last night
"freaking you out?" he repeated
"he told me he loves me na? i panicked.. and left him"
"oh" he is a bit calm now "half point for him then"
i smiled "then he asked for my mobile number" Amit didnt comment "and i gave it to him"
"oh" he nodded, he looked annoyed but then he smiled "i guess.. its important, to know your friend's number" he sounded like he was convincing himself more than me "i mean, there wont be talking at night and all that" he grinned
"talking at night?" i never really understood the need of two love ones talking at night.. it didnt make sense to me, and since Maan is not my love one, he is only a friend now, i doubt he will call me at night
"yeah, dont answer his phone call if he called after 11 pm" i nodded "and whatever meeting you both have, i better know about where and when"
"ji" i nodded again
"ok" he looked away, i know he is trying so hard to fight this fatherhood feeling about protecting his daughter "i cant believe im agreeing on this"
"Amit" i sat on the bed "you're doing a good job at that department"
"which one?" he still didnt look at me
"the fatherhood one" Amit slowly looked at me "really you're too good for calling you Amit"
"Geet" he smiled holding my hand "i dont want you to call me dad" he paused looking at my puzzled face "i am not here to take his place.. he's the only one to call dad, not me"
i felt tears falling on my cheeks as i looked at Amit, i threw my arms around him and hugged him tightly "i love you Amit"
he tapped my back "i love you too beti"

he was silent for a while, i stopped at the apartment door "can i say something?" he sounded serious
"is it off friendship limit?"
"yes"
"ok"
"i miss your face already" he whispered
