On the contrary, I feel it's good that Karu and Amey were safe. What you were talking about is a strategy that works only when the show is in the initial or middle stages and by the time it nears ending the channel tries to give all the limelight to the deserved contestants. That is also because there are only 4 left out now and the votes that 12 contestants got till now will be shared by them. People will now vote for only that contestant who is promoted by the channel and the judges. It is so clear that Sony has changed it's strategy now. But with Sony anything is possible. May be I'm worng but this is what I've observed.
