If you wanna call it "work", by all means go ahead.

More diatribe and rants and no substance.. I know that I have pwnedyou when you resort to wikifreakia... So, you can read - good for you. Now what is your opinion? I can go online and find as many bashers of Mithun. I understand that you grew up watching his movies in Dharavi but it's time to open your eyes to the reality.

Seriously, not even a single best actor award from the most credited FilmFare in 40 freaking years?? And he is successful??

I don't consider Filmfare as an award accomplishment

hi. i'm anupama and i'm new to this forum. i'm a silent reader. but today i was not able to resist myself from writing.
why the people here are fighting over mithun? this should not happen with these kind of kind hearted actors. someone even called him a "slum actor". what he/she know about him? it's true that the larger section of his fan following constitutes the slum people. and the reason behind it is that he has helped many poor people. they love him as a human being as well as an actor.
and the most important thing, he was not a failure. he was one of the most famous actor of his era. and he made the disco songs famous.
the people who think that he was a failure should feel ashamed of themselves. respect him.
sorry, if i've offended someone.

i'm not making comment on u. i'm commenting on the person who called him the "slum actor".

on mithun's comment i want to say that, he is absolutely right. salim was saying that this era's songs will be remembersd even after 25 years. forget about 25 years. these will even not last for 5 years (except few).

Ooooh.. someone's feelings got hurt because their favorite slum actor got busted. Tough luck.. but your constipated intelligence coupled with dementia has caused a perennial stupidity to you.

Don't count the awards dear.. your Naxalite idol has won nothing. Oh and regarding,"National Awards"... there are people who have won national awards and have been very very successful comercially.. ever heard of these names - Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjeev Kumar, Om Puri.. should I go on? Naah.. you don't know any of them anyway..

Get your facts straight.. Your attempt at creating a hyperbole was just like your existence.. failure.

My feelings arent hurt...why should they? 😆 Im just pointing out facts to an ignoramus. 😆
Mithun isnt a slum actor but he has helped slum dwellers for sure.... hes done a lot for the poor unlike that Scrooge Amitabh.

Ruled in 70s and 80s.. your humor is impressive.

Mithun is the dancing idol and inspiration of thousands of Slum dwellers

I disagree with Mithun's comments on music.

Modern film music is definitely different from what it was in the past. However, in no way is it superior or inferior in anyway. Music evolves. Styles change, fuse, merge and all sorts of sounds emerge.

Yes there were some definitely classic soulful melodies and soothing sounds that will forever be unparalleled. Sometimes modern music does tend to lack some of the softer styles and melodies. However, modern music does compensate with some unique things never done before.

In the past the Indian music industry was dominated by a few singers. These singers like Rafi, Kishore, Asha, Lata etc were brilliant and deserved every bit of fame and accolades they received. They were dedicated, they were versatile and were really amazing to give a unique sound to many different actors.

But in retrospect it was kind of unfair too. Monopolies of a few always leave out certain hidden talents. There is so much talent in India. So many good singers hidden in various parts of a country. Each with a unique voice and talent. Even in this season's Indian Idol - there is the earthy tone with Swaroop, the romanticism in Sreeram, the unique youth male voice of Shivam, the alto range voice of Bhoomi. When there are so many options, why fill all songs with the same singer. That is why music directors pick different singers for different songs.

Of course there is the bit of commercialization and making the buck over new talent. There is also the cost savings of using a not so expensive singer. But at the same time a system that encourages and gives opportunities to all sorts of talent cannot be dismissed so easily.

Although I am not sure why we are debating Mithun's career credentials here. As far as I know my acting career is a dud and forget awards, I don't even have a single film in my belt. When it comes to singing, I sound like a screeching banshee cat - yet here I am commenting on music and singing. We all have opinions. Mithun is nostalgic, I am not. Moreover, despite his endless array of cheese fests and the bizarre honor of bringing thrusts and gyrations to the family television - every now and then Mithun has done some commendable roles.

Another Mithun appologist. Your name says a lot about you.
Again, read this slowly. Sorry, I cannot draw pictures for you to communicate my point. The point is that there were not many movies made during the time you are talking about. Also, we grew up with that music. We do have some data now that shows that as the time goes by, the songs may sound melodious.
My point aside, calling Mithun an actor (leave alone successful) is an insult to art.

I see that you are a very judgemental person and seem to judge everyone, I have no idea what my name says about me to you and I would rather not know either.
You obvioulsy think you are better than everyone else and seem to have a very high opinion about yourself. A piece of advice is that humility is what makes a person superior to all, in the eyes of God and I feel Mithunda has a lot of humility, if you see how much of charity he gives.
Anyway you are entitled to your opinion and I am to mine. Thanks
