I think this is a good question, I was impressed and appreciated his honesty, Mithun being one my all time gr8st from the old era and he still is to say that I think I quite agree with him, if you look at previous years especially my favourite the 90s, the music had emotions, feeling it had a meaning behind the songs it felt relaxed and was so melodious, with singers like Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Nadeem-Shravan magic etc... same with the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, composers such as Laxmikant, singers like Mohd Rafi, Kishore Kumar the music had rhythm to it, it actually suited the picturisation too.

Nowadays i'm not saying songs aint good but its limited, its more about selling the song now, like making it top of the charts or top 10 etc... I havnt seen many songs in todays era where it jus relaxes you, as Salim would say, the feel of the song, the melody and of course the meaning.

If i'm to mention a song that today could compare to the 90s era then its gotta be 'Tujh Main Rab Dikhta Hai' from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. I still love that song so much.

Many might agree with me or disagree but I have the same opinion of todays music not saying its not nice but its jus not how it was and I was born in the mid 80s!

any doubts?
whatever he said is absolutely correct.kaha kishore ,rafi, aur kaha yeh aajke singers, except few who try live upto the expectations.esp ,the new singers we get to hear off late, horrible, and even music directors are not really for good music.
sabh kho paise se matlab hai.

I absolutely and completely agere with him! I think "kala" or art is really deserving of true devotion, but today its on sale.

Also, I think since his comment was specifically about films, I must insist that previously, multiple times, the actors were unable to live up to the beautifully presented compositions. Today, both the actors and compositions are rather superficial and very lacking.

This is just an overall evaluation, of course there are exceptions in both times. And just my opinion!

Mithun was drunk or maybe just cranky. A failed artist in the field of acting with zero knowledge about music - to the extent that the songs he lip-sang, were also far from melodious. Mithun talking about music will be like Anu Malik talking about embryo cell research.
Salim provided a befitting answer saying that the today's songs will sound melodious after 25 years. And he might be right.. we like Jadoo Teri Nazar still today.

Your supreme lack of knowledge makes me laugh! 😆 😆
Mithun a failer ACTOR? 😲 😆
Hes won THREE (3) National Awards as Best ACTOR...one for Mrigaya (1977), one for Tahader Katha (1993), 3rd one for Swami Vivekananda(1996)!
Now show me ONE actor from Bollywood who has won 3 National Awards, which are considered the highest awards in arts and culture. 😆
He also won 3 Filmfare awards, 2 Stardust Awards, etc.

Ooooh.. someone's feelings got hurt because their favorite slum actor got busted. Tough luck.. but your constipated intelligence coupled with dementia has caused a perennial stupidity to you.
Don't count the awards dear.. your Naxalite idol has won nothing. Oh and regarding,"National Awards"... there are people who have won national awards and have been very very successful comercially.. ever heard of these names - Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjeev Kumar, Om Puri.. should I go on? Naah.. you don't know any of them anyway..
Get your facts straight.. Your attempt at creating a hyperbole was just like your existence.. failure.

@The Ultimate,

A failed actor does not rule the 70s and partly 80s, a failed actor did not make DISCO dance famous in bollywood, a failed actor does not have 17 films released in a span of 1 year and a failed actor would still not be in films today!

Believe it or not, I completely agree. Mithun did none of the above. I will give you that he was worshipped in slums.
Ruled in 70s and 80s.. your humor is impressive.
